"I don't care about it."
What? At this moment, I'm simply unable to comprehend what is going on. She said that she cares for me, that I'm someone who can save her from loneliness, yet she doesn't want to know my true face? My circumstances? If she were to outright reject me or even laugh right into my face, at least I would be able to understand what does she means!
With her arms suddenly locking behind my neck, she simply embraced me as tight as she could without saying a word. Only after a long time, my heart manages to calm down a bit. No matter what, her proximity has a miraculous effect on me!
Noticing that I'm finally calmed down, Eve rested her head on my forehead she simply stared right into my eyes with a warm smile.
"I don't care about why are you acting like that, where did you really came from, what is your real aim or how come you are so talented. I already noticed that whenever any of those aspects were brought up, you were tensing up. I care about how you act towards me, I care ho you treat me, I care about what you feel towards me. If I were to consider other things when thinking about our relationship, wouldn't it be just a trade?
I had no idea that she was not only so observant but as reflective as well! It seems like her small, fragile body and cute smile managed to cheat me into underestimating her a lot!
But even if her words are like flowing honey on my soul, I won't be able to be happy with her if she only sees the fake image of myself that I created!
I guess I need to be honest with her for the sake of being honest with myself.
"Thank you for your trust, but I really want you to hear it. You showed in which way do you treasure our relationship and just like that I want you to fully understand who I really am. Otherwise, I will always have this feeling, that you have fallen in love, not in my real self, but the fake image I created for my own convenience."
Seeing how serious I am with this statement, Eve looked me deeply into eyes before placing a delicate kiss on top of my lips, turning her back around a bit and resting on my shoulder.
"Go on then."
While I want to explain her everything, it's not like I know what should I start with. There is simply a way too many things to cover them in just one or two sentences.
"The first thing you need to know is that I'm not exactly from this world. While yes, this body was born here, I was in reality reincarnated from a difrent place, called earth. Have you ever heard of such a thing happening?"
While I want to keep going, I'm curious whether something like this had happened in this world already. I saw a lot of the novels where the protagonist being someone from a different world wasn't something unique at all. Even if that's, not the case here, I need to know this to adapt my way of living with others from now on.
"I never heard about something like this taking place, but that doesn't mean it didn't. I simply don't have much information."
Uff, while I started with the biggest bomb right away, Eve doesn't seem to be moved by it at all. I can't say whether she is stunned, unable to comprehend the meaning of my words or just can't believe in them, it doesn't really change anything. As long as I said those words, I can keep trying to make her realise the significance of this information.
"Additionally, my body is totally devoid of the talent to cultivate. Before you ask me how can I cultivate then, there is another thing you need to know. Upon being either reincarnated or transported to this world, I met a being claiming to be God. While I can't verify whether this claim is true, it bestowed me with something called a system. In essence, it allows me to gather something called experience points from various actions like killing monsters or other cultivators, dual cultivating or even practising everyday abilities to improve my strenght. As far as I understand it, for now, the sudden improvement of my cultivation is just a side effect of my internal energy growing thanks to the system."
Okay then, those two were the worst parts of my confession. As long as she won't despise me for hiding them from her up to this point, the remaining stuff is a simple effect of those two causes that I brought up.
"If you initially couldn't cultivate at all, how come you defeated Baxhar with your cultivation energy? Even if you were clearly lacking control over your power, it was still something available only to cultivators!"
Still sitting calmly on my lap, Eve was trying to make sense of what I said. Able to see her profile only, I could guess that she was really trying to understand everything that I said. I can't even describe how relieved I'm by lack of disgust or hate on her face right now! Maybe I was simply too cautious?
"That's something I would like to understand as well. I wanted to level up in the forest before having this talk because as soon as I get some more experience points, I will be able to unlock further improvements of my system and myself. This the real reason why I postponed our talk in the first place. I just hoped that if I were to unlock further improvements, I would be able to get the gist of how this system operates. As far as I observed, all the magical beast that I kill seems to be completly dried out of the energy they formerly possessed. I can only guess that this system is making use of it to improve my body and capabilities."
As I keep observing the minute changes on Eve's face as I speak, I obviously noticed when enlightenment seemed to strike her.
"I think I understand most of it, but what did you mean by growing with dual cultivation? What's more, does this system is responsible for my sudden rise of powers back in the courtyard?"
