Looking down at the entire empty space around the tower filled with magical beasts, I finally realised why did Bonger try to make me change my mind back then. I guess I should stop ignoring its advices when it's trying to give them out for free, but there are times when other things simply take priority!
With most of the beasts at the level manageable for me, I was worried about around forty behemoths that reached the level of the beast that I fought with back in the city. It was their combined attacks that were capable of shaking the tower to its very core.
As my storage rings crumbled, I was left with only the items that I had equipped on myself as I teleported. With not even a single sword on hand, I had to fully rely on my mage stick to go through this madness!
But there was something I had to try beforehand!
Bonger, can you change my healing to allow its mutations to accommodate my body for the entropy coursing through my veins?
"Blop!"
"Such action can result in putting a limit over the host potential growth, but might result in lower pressure from the poison."
"Do you wish to proceed?"
While my heal was keeping up with the speed of degradation of my body, the most important and actually the worst part of this sentence was - for now. I didn't forget how it was slowly losing its effectiveness over healing Eve's wound, so I had no grounds to believe that I would be a different case!
All those bests already stepping on each other to reach for my figure in the window of the second floor… There was no way I could challenge even a single one of them with how fragile my constitution was right now!
But if I were to allow the entropy to freely but slowly change my body to move through it just like the normal, pure energy, I might limit my future possibilities, but the poison would at least lose its lethality! In the current situation, I would take that as an absolute win!
"Blop!"
"Turning the integrity protection for the heal ability off"
It was as if the sun suddenly scorched my entire body!
Every single bit of my being screamed in pain, as the healing that so far was blocking the entropy from tearing my cells apart, was now letting the poison do what it wanted.
Someone could say, just endure it. It can't get any worse than that, could it?
Oh hell yes!
Just like I expected, the pain was only growing in its intensity!
If the first wave of this new torture was akin to being skinned and burned alive at the same time, now it turned to make my body grow nails all over my skin, before slowly and brutally pulling them all out at once!
But there was one change.
Even with my heal still going on, while it stopped blocking the pain, the degradation of my body not only stalled but seemed to reverse!
Once again I was able to properly move around, as long as I was mentally resilient enough to ignore the constant pain exploding in waves in my brain!
Shake.
The tremor caused by yet another behemoth-like beast smashing itself against the stone wall of the tower, almost made me fall over the edge of the window, right in the jaws of thousands of the beasts.
Thankfully, no matter the pain, my reactions were back on track.
Grabbing the side of the wall, I managed to stabilise myself, before bringing my mage's stick forward.
WEAK FIREBALL!
Even if there was no need for me to shout the name of the spell-like some kind of chunni-infected kid, for some reason it allowed me to let all of my stress and pain go away for a short while.
As the mana moved around my body, I felt an ecstatic wave of being freed from the pain, before an orgasmic feeling filled my mind!
Despite getting to have sex with multiple women already, after being soaked in the agony for so long, even a slightly pleasurable feeling was capable of making me burst not only my untangible mana, but something perfectly corporeal as well!
With the energy rushing through my veins towards the crystal on top of my provisioned staff, a strange thing happened.
It's true that fireball was the only skill I was using in moderation, but I still had a good look at how it was working every time I used it.
That's why when the darker spots of the forming ball of fire moved in different patterns than usual, I couldn't help but scratch my head with my free, left hand.
But that gesture of mine lasted only for a single moment.
With the beast making fun of my creation for a good minute already, casting speed of two seconds didn't really matter.
Wait, two seconds?
BOOM!
Before I was able to formulate any thought about the increased casting time of my fireball, it finished forming and launched itself into one of the spots totally crowded by the beasts.
Inferno.
I guess that's how I will start calling it from now on!
As soon as the fireball touched the skin of the tallest beast in the pack, the fire didn't erupt. It was more like the bubble of flaming liquid broke, spewing the flammable substance all over the place!
There was no escape from the blaze!
Anything that the fire touched, was set in fire instantly.
Just like the napalm from the movies, once graced with the presence of my attack, no matter what the beast tried to do from rolling on the ground or crashing against other beasts nearby, the fire stuck to their skin, quickly eating away at their flesh and leaving only a small bit of ash behind.
Not even bones were immune to the fire!
In just a few seconds, the entire field turned completely silent.
While those beasts for some reasons didn't develop as high intelligence as their counterparts from the forbidden forest would at their level, it didn't make them immune to this insane sight!
ROAR!
It took them a nice few seconds to try to intimidate me with their roars, before all the beasts rushed frantically towards the tower, slamming against it with their bare bodies.
Taking a picture of the blank spot in the sea of enemies, I couldn't help but nod with satisfaction.
The pain was swiftly growing back to its previous size, as the thick mana in the air rushed towards my body and refilled all the mana I spent in a flash.
I guess its time for round two!
