Chapter 71 - Maxwell.

The gates of the Whitelock Residence were opened, and a large black car entered the premises. The car drove smoothly all the way to the garage.

The garage already had two beautiful sports cars and a silver jeep.

The car parked nicely next to them, and the engine instantly turned off.

Inside the car, Maxwell took the keys and looked at the box on the front seat. It was a quite small cardboard box, but the item inside was incredibly valuable.

He put the keys in his pocket and gently took the box, trying to not harm it in any way.

Maxwell left the car and slowly started walking towards the door, which leads to the mansion.

He carefully opened the door and entered the mansion.

Instantly the warmth surrounded his figure, and a familiar scent of cooking assaulted his nostrils.

Maxwell walked past the kitchen and entered the living room, where Alice and Mark were watching TV.

''Hey, dad!'' Mark said cheerfully.

''Mark, where is your mother?'' Maxwell asked.

''Kitchen!'' He pointed with his small arm towards the kitchen.

A head popped from the open kitchen door, ''Yes, honey?'' Isabella asked. Her black hair was tied up in a ponytail, and she was wearing a beautiful apron, which made her look like a housewife.

''Nothing... It can wait.'' Maxwell said and started walking towards his office, which was located on the second floor.

''Alright!'' Isabella said cheerfully and continued her cooking with dozen other servants.

Maxwell entered his office and put the box gently on the desk. He turned around and took a painting from a wall.

Behind the painting, a safe was located. It had a fingerprint scanner and a code.

Maxwell first pressed the code and then put his finger on the scanner.

*Beep* *Beep*

*Clank*

The safe opened. It was completely empty except... There is another wooden box with beautiful golden lining, it wasn't too large of a box, only around 10cm in length, but there was obviously something important hidden there.

Maxwell grabbed the cardboard box and put it on the top shelf of the safe.

''One day...'' He murmured while looking at the wooden box. He closed the safe and put the painting back on the wall.

The painting had three figures. The first figure in the painting looked similar to Maxwell but slightly younger, while the two figures behind him were around the 60s.

The first figure was an old woman with a height of 160cm. Her face looked quite attractive; she was definitely a gorgeous woman when she was younger. Her hair was already turning slightly grey, with a small portion of her hair being brown. She was smiling gently while standing next to the man who was almost identical to Maxwell.

The second figure was a grumpy-looking old man with short black hair, with the sides of the hair being grey. He was quite muscular even though he looked like he was nearing his 60s, maybe has already entered, but he looked younger than someone of his age should.

Maxwell sighed and opened the door. He took a final glance at the painting and left the office.

He was about to go talk with Isabella, but then he remembered a certain someone.

Instead of going downstairs, he went upstairs, all the way to the fourth floor.

He stopped in front of a door with a nameplate on the door.

[Isaac]

*Knock* *Knock*

He knocked a few times and asked, ''Isaac?''

After hearing no answer, he opened the door and saw a figure lying on the floor with a blue helmet covering his face.

Maxwell closed the door and walked next to the bed.

He sat down on the bed and looked at Isaac's face underneath the visor.

He sat in silence for 10 minutes until the door was opened and a beautiful black-haired woman entered.

''Maxwell?'' Isabella walked next to him and touched his shoulder tenderly, ''What is it?''

''It's nothing...'' Maxwell sighed.

''What is it, tell me.'' Isabella put her slender arms around his neck and her head on his shoulder.

Maxwell sighed and said, ''What if... The same thing happens with Isaac and me.''

''You are talking about... Your parents?'' Isabella's face turned into a sad one.

Maxwell gently nodded, ''My mother again called me last week... I am sure she wanted to talk about White Online, but I didn't answer.''

''It's all my fault...'' Isabella whispered, ''Maybe... They want to fix the relationship with you?''

''I don't know...'' Maxwell looked at her, ''They didn't want me to marry you, and they are finally calling me, just before White Online got released, isn't that fishy?''

Isabella shook her head, ''I don't know... And I don't blame them for not accepting our marriage... You were their only son after all, and I was a young shopkeeper with an empty wallet.''

''They are so old-fashioned... They wanted only arranged marriage to improve their status.'' Maxwell said with a pained face.

''That's not true...'' Isabella touched his hair and said, ''They loved you, and I am sure they would have fixed your relationship if your father wasn't such tsundere.'' She giggled slightly.

Maxwell wryly smiled, ''His head is so thick that not even blade can pierce it.'' He looked at Isaac and smiled, ''When it's time for Isaac to marry... Will I be able to approve his choice?''

Suddenly Isabella's grip tightened, ''My baby boy won't marry anyone!''

Maxwell looked at her with a wry smile, ''Aren't you very much like my mother right now?''

''Hmph!'' Isabella pouted. She crossed her arms and said, ''Isaac will always stay with me!''

''Who knows, maybe he has already found someone in the game,'' Maxwell said with an amused smile.

Isabella paled, ''N-No!''

Maxwell chuckled and looked at Isaac, ''Hey, what if we send Isaac to visit my parents? He has never met his grandparents before, and who knows... Maybe my parents will notice that our marriage wasn't a mistake.''

Isabella kissed his cheek and said, ''It is Isaac's decision. Let's ask him tonight.''

Maxwell nodded and stood up, ''I have something to talk about... About the meeting.''

Isabella nodded and left the room with Maxwell while holding hands.
