Shen Tianyu paused to let it sink in before she continued. "Now, we have started to establish our power in the secular world, those big and powerful Sects and organizations would naturally become afraid. Afraid that they might become our prey, afraid that we'd take away some of their resources, afraid that we'd ally with their enemies to get rid of them. However, they have nowhere to vent this fear and frustration. One is because you and most of our elders loath to show your faces, preferring to hole yourselves up in your workshops. So they don't know how to kill or kidnap or threaten you, because they don't even know what you look like. How could they find someone who they don't even know if their face is a square or a triangle? Second is because our trainees and recruits train in the forest, under the guidance of our older members. They don't dare to overstep the bounds into the forest anymore lest their organization be wiped out for the transgression. Even more so, now that there are various species of dangerous demonic beasts inhabiting our forest. In other words, by the time they meet our new recruits, it would be hard for their people to beat them. And third, as I said before, you've already given leadership of Yaodu away. Even if they came after you, it's no use because there's someone who could take up your mantle immediately. Getting rid of you won't cause confusion within the organization but instead cause a disaster for themselves. And not to mention they don't know how you look like, they know even less about the new "Master" of Yaodu. At the very least, they know you are an old man who is obsessed with researching poisons whose spring wilted before it even began to bloom. Your third leg is just an extra, unnecessary appendage on your body since you'd rather investigate new types of poison than going to brothels. As for the new head, they don't even know if they're a man or a woman, they just assume it's a man."
"Hey, hey. Where do I find someone that talks like you?[1] My third leg is just fine, thank you." Muo Jeng huffed. "And I do like women, it's just that none of them understand me."
"If I was in their shoes, I wouldn't want a man like you either." Shen Tianyu rolled her eyes and snorted. "No sense of delicacy or romance. Only caring about your research. Making a fuss if they say something wrong or touch your products. Which woman could stand a man like you as a potential significant other? There's no use in you liking men or women if they all blacklist you."
Muo Jeng clicked his tongue and opened his mouth to argue but found that he couldn't find any words to refute her. Which resulted in him opening and closing his mouth like a fish.
"This girl..." Muo Jeng could only huff and fling his sleeves in anger before finishing his tea.
...
After a restful sleep, Shen Tianyu got up alone to go to Lavender Palace. Bai Yaoxuan would be training her meridians and Rong Jian would be working on some court stuff. She didn't pay attention to, nor ask, what Muo Jeng would be doing for the day. She arrived safely at Lavender Palace and asked for the room of Elder Yu. She dismissed Wu Linghao and headed to the room herself, reminding him to do his work properly.
"Elder Yu." Shen Tianyu knocked on the door and called out to the elderly woman sitting in the cream-colored room.
"Ah, Xiao Tian'er, you came to visit me. Come sit, come sit." The elderly woman smiled at her, her face full of happy crinkles, and gestured to the padded seat next to her.
"Yes, Elder Yu." Shen Tianyu returned her smile and closed the door behind her. She made herself comfortable in her seat as the old lady poured her some tea. "What tea is this?" Shen Tianyu smelled the aroma of the liquid.
"It's Longjing tea, little treasure." Elder Yu chuckled a she took a sip from her cup.
"Longjing tea? Isn't Longjing tea only drunk by the Emperor?" Shen Tianyu asked as she blew on her cup.
"Silly girl, we're a big and powerful organization. If we want some tea, who wouldn't give us some? This is all thanks to your efforts, my little treasure. If it was before, not to mention Longjing, we might not even have been able to get Da Hong Pao[2]. It's all that old geezer's fault, not doing his work properly and ended up causing you to run around and work so hard when you're so young." Elder Yu gently pat her hand.
"It's nothing, Elder Yu. It's because I had so much to do that I didn't have time to think bad thoughts. And besides, with his personality, his method of management could only be worse, not better."
The sound of gentle, old wine chimes sounded out of Elder Yu's mouth. "Haha. True, true. That old one isn't fir for leadership positions at all. Though it's the same for all of us, I suppose. Now, my little treasure, what brings you here today? I'm sure it's not just to talk bad about that old geezer with me, right?"
Shen Tianyu fully turned to face Elder Yu with her body. "Elder Yu, I would like you to take the seat of my mother during my wedding ceremony."
[1] I'm not sure if I translated this correctly? It's along the lines of "You went too far" or "You shouldn't have said that". It's not really getting someone in trouble but more like a half-hearted warning?
