When Matthew Xi reached his car, he turned around and stared at Z Image Group front. A faint sigh escaped his mouth.
'This is just right...' He thought internally before fishing his key out and entered the driver's seat.
What he witnessed earlier, Matthew Xi instinctively thought he needed to pull himself out of this deal with Zoey. He had been receiving red flags with his brief interactions with her, but earlier was the most alarming one.
Curiosity kills the cat... she reminded Matthew Xi of this phrase when he saw Zoey with Richard Sun.
Initially, Zoey piqued his interest by her unusual actions. Aside from the physical attraction he had for her the first time he laid his eyes on her, Matthew Xi was always inclined to puzzles.
Therefore, a woman like Zoey who was akin to a thousand piece puzzle, Matthew Xi was urged to complete it to see its full image. Even so, after seeing a few pieces of her, something within him told him to stop.
The reason he unhesitatingly backed on his words, which he rarely does. But what was this foreign feeling circling inside him?
Why was Zoey's retreating back and nonchalance bothered him and kept replaying inside his mind?
"Tsk," As a heavy exhale slipped out from his lips, Matthew Xi closed his eyes as he leaned his back and head onto the driver's seat.
Was he feeling bad? Why? He shouldn't be right? However, his heart says otherwise.

Meanwhile, as Zoey was having a peaceful rest on the sofa, her phone kept on ringing. At first, Zoey didn't bother to answer, but after hearing the rings continuously annoyed her, she slid her arm off her eyes.
"Haist..." She grumbled before she languidly sprawled her arm to her handbag. Searching for her ringing phone, Zoey frowned upon seeing her best friend's, Cora Ma's name on the screen.
Answering the call, Zoey asked, "what?" Her tone sounded a little off, which didn't escape her best friend's ear.
"Huh? What's with the tone? Problem in the company?" Cora Ma retracted her phone and looked at it for a brief moment before placing it back in front of her ear. Her brows knitted because Zoey rarely gets upset over something.
"I bumped into that Richard Sun AKA jerk earlier." Zoey responded after a heavy sigh.
"Ahh... that crazy stalker." Upon hearing Zoey's reply, Cora Ma scoffed. No wonder Zoey was upset because that man was crazy, giving Zoey headaches every once in a while.
Fortunately, Zoey has a strong heart, mentality, and she was a natural fighter. Or else, Cora Ma was certain that her best friend would have succumbed to Richard Sun's oppression.
"I threatened him, Cora. I won't be surprised if I get a summon to court tomorrow. What a bastard." Accepting the possible scenario tomorrow, Zoey was rather calm and sounded lazy.
"That crazy scum...!" Grinding her teeth, Cora Ma wanted to curse Richard Sun more but refrained herself.
"No, I'm the crazy one for stepping on his level." Staring at the ceiling, Zoey admitted as she raised her arm and looked at her fingers.
"*sigh*" Upon hearing Zoey's admittance, Cora Ma deeply sighed in distress. It only had been a few days since Zoey returned from her leave, but she was now facing a problem.
Therefore, Cora Ma cursed Richard Sun in her heart that he would have his karma.
"Let's not talk about that guy again and waste our energy. Why did you call?" Diverting the topic, Zoey asked.
"Uhm... nothing. I just want to ask how were you and your progress with Browny." Cora Ma was reminded of the petty reason of her call.
Well, she just wanted to chat for a bit, and Zoey often worries her. Thus, Cora Ma called out of the blue.
"Ahh... he broke up with me." Without further ado, Zoey informed nonchalantly.
"What? That soon? No, that's not the question — you two hit it off?!" Cora Ma shouldn't be surprised, but she was!
In her perspective, Matthew Xi wasn't that kind of man who would fall for Zoey that easily. Yet he did? Did Cora Ma misunderstand something in between?
"Hey, Zoey Zhou, give me the full details about what happened — quick!" Thrilled and curious, Cora Ma urged as she changed the voice call to video call.. Surely, Zoey was surrounded with busybodies.
