Chapter 39 - I'm Done, We're Done.

In the end, Matthew Xi didn't get to enjoy his meal nor his brief stay in his own place because Vivian Xi kicked him out! Yes, his mother kicked him out despite he owned the place.

Only Vivian Xi had the audacity and capability to do this to him, hence it was no wonder why aside from Matthew Xi, Vivian Xi, the chairwoman of the Xi Corporation was someone one couldn't bear to offend.

Even Matthew Xi was helpless before her. Especially if Vivian Xi get so determined.

This was all thanks to Zoey that Matthew Xi got kicked out. On the second thought, Matthew Xi had to admit it was partially his fault too because he forgot to return the damn phone.

If he did, his mother wouldn't know about Zoey and he would still be inside his own villa. What a day, indeed.

"Apologize to her... as if." Inside Paul Qian's car, Matthew Xi muttered as he began to rev up the engine and sped away from his place.

He would just say that he did apologize and stay in a hotel somewhere. After all, his mother wouldn't know if he abided her or not.

However, as Matthew Xi was heading to a particular hotel, his mother's words ceaselessly rang inside his ear. "How can you know she doesn't care, ah? Acting nonchalant doesn't mean she really doesn't care — it's what you call keeping your pride even if someone crushed it."

"Tsk," Shaking his head a little, Matthew Xi tried to toss that memory on the back of his head. However, he couldn't unheard his mother's words.

Not just that, but also Zoey's retreating back kept on replaying in his mind. The reason Matthew Xi grew more upset by the second.

"I'm done, we're done..." Matthew Xi chanted repeatedly as he stepped on the pedal harder.

Without him realizing it, Matthew Xi instinctively drove not to his initial destination but somewhere else. Before he knew it, he stopped in front of Z Image Group main headquarters.

"These women are driving me crazy." Through his gritted teeth, he leaned his head back before heaving a heavy, distressed sigh.

What was he doing? Why did he go in this place? He must be out of his mind, really.

Just as Matthew Xi was grumbling inside the vehicle, he saw a swaying figure come out from the establishment. Squinting his eyes, Matthew Xi had a clear view after staring at her for a while; it was none other than Zoey!

"Is she drunk, again?" He mumbled, watching her figure walked out on the sidewalk. The next second, Matthew Xi raised his brows because Zoey hurried back inside.

"What is she doing?" Soon, Matthew Xi got his answer as Zoey's car exited the premises.

At first, Zoey's car moved in a snail pace as it departed the premises. However, when it was on the road, she sped up as if she was in a race car.

Matthew Xi instinctively followed Zoey from the start as she left the company to a certain place. However, as he trailed her tracks, he could not help the corner of his eyes from twitching.

'Is she courting death?' He thought internally as he needed to speed up to catch up to her. Speeding wasn't his worry, but Zoey.

She seemed she had a drink, yet she was driving recklessly. Recalling the first night of their encounter, aside from the redolent scent of blood, Zoey reeked of alcohol.

He might be half conscious that time, but Matthew Xi could still remember the potent smell of alcohol. Therefore, a thought flashed across his head.

"Was she driving like this that night?" He murmured in disbelief. If Zoey was driving like this back then, then Matthew Xi should be thankful that he was still alive.

Just thinking about being inside the car Zoey was driving, it gave Matthew Xi the chills. Anyone would probably have the same reaction as him because being inside that car right now also meant having your other foot in a grave.

Soon, Matthew Xi's brows knitted as the direction she was heading was familiar. It was the way to Paul Qian's apartment.

Was she going to see him? In the middle of the night?

"This woman... she's asking for trouble." Matthew Xi kept following her, and they soon stopped near Paul Qian's place. Matthew Xi kept a cautious distance from her car.

Just thinking that she would drive all the way from her company to this place at this time, Matthew Xi clicked his tongue. They were strangers, and Zoey didn't know him that well.

How could she be so reckless going to a man's place in a vulnerable state? Truly, Zoey was crazy.
