Chapter 62 - Sick And In Need

For a moment, Zoey was rendered speechless. Blinking her eyes many times, Zoey retracted her phone and looked at it before placing it back in front of her ear.

Did he just indirectly said he's coming? He would visit her? Despite the headache she gave him earlier? He wasn't mad or anything?

"So, have you eaten?" After the minute of silence, Matthew Xi inquired. Currently, he was already in his home — just arrived home to be exact. The reason Matthew Xi didn't immediately answer her call.

"You'll visit me?" Trying to recompose herself, Zoey asked. "Awww, darling~" Moved at his gesture, Zoey smiled brightly.

She heard him sigh from the other end of the line, making her giggle. "I'm at Kwan General Hospital..." Zoey informed, giving him the details of what floor and room she was.

Little did she know, Matthew Xi already knew these details. Even about the whole fiasco with Richard Sun and Enzo Li's visits — he knew everything. Hence, the heavy sigh.

Alright," After hearing all the details, Matthew Xi hung up the call before Zoey could say more irrelevant love confessions.

When the line ended, Zoey bit her lower lips. However, that wasn't enough to stop the smile on her lips from revealing a wide grin.

"Your boyfriend is coming?" Just then, Zion Kwan slowly opened his eyes and asked. He glanced at the smiling Zoey — a rare sight to see on her face.

"He said he bought too much food for dinner and asked me if I'm hungry." Still bearing the bright smile, Zoey picked up the documents that were scattered around her bed.

"I see... he felt like donating the food." Nodding his head in understanding, Zion Kwan replied.

"He has a golden heart for the sick and needy~" Regardless of the misleading statement from Zion Kwan, Zoey was already in cloud nine. She didn't care if Matthew Xi was visiting because he didn't want to waste the food.

All she cared about was he thought of giving her anything. That alone was enough for her. Indeed, Zoey wasn't that complicated. She was just simple… too simple which made her seem complicated.

"You're not sick."

"I am! I am love sick and in need of my darling's warmth — say, brother Ion, how about you put that in my medical records so I can show him proof?" Placing her palms on her cheeks, Zoey fluttered her lashes with a smile.

"I'll make you an appointment to see my friend — she's a psychiatrist." Shaking his head, Zion Kwan slowly rose from his seat and grabbed his coat.

"Ah? Where are you going?" Seeing him preparing himself to leave, Zoey tilted her head to the side.

"Home. You'll have company later and I don't want to make things awkward." In a matter-of-fact tone, Zion Kwan responded.

Actually, Zion Kwan was certain he wouldn't make things awkward. It would be Zoey that would do that. Therefore, Zion Kwan didn't want to be in a situation where Zoey fawned around her lover while he watched on the side.

Zion Kwan would rather sleep in his bed comfortably than eat dog food. After all, Zoey was shameless enough to be all lovey-dovey regardless how many eyes were watching.

"Okay..." As she watched him leave, Zoey's smile gradually faded as she pursed her lips together.

Zion Kwan glanced back at her and saw her sudden change of behavior. Stopping in his tracks, Zion Kwan walked back to her and sighed.

"I'll be resting in my office. Call me if he won't accompany you tonight." Slowly, Zion Kwan patted her head and offered a gentle smile. His plan of going home was replaced by staying in his office.

Since he has his own small room in his office, Zion Kwan could rest there for a bit and come back if ever Zoey's boyfriend couldn't watch over her the entire night.

Even if Matthew Xi would accompany her throughout the night, it was better for him to be nearby. At least, it would save him some trouble if Zoey was left alone.

"Thank you..." The slight frown on Zoey's lips slightly curled up upon hearing his last remark. She was glad to have a brother from another mother like Zion Kwan.

At the very least, she knew the feeling of having a family. Someone that looked after her and genuinely wanted the best for her.

"I'll let you meet him."

"Introduce him to me when you're certain you'll be his wife." Turning around, Zion Kwan noted in a matter-of-fact tone before he left the room.

As Zion Kwan left, Zoey narrowed her eyes and pondered. "Right, how can he be my husband? Hmm...?" After a minute of contemplation, a glint flickered across her pair of eyes as the corner of her lips curled into a mischievous grin.

"Hehehe...."
