Chapter 91 - How Should I End You?

Thinking back on their second encounter, Zoey didn't recognize him immediately. After all, it was not the type of situation to recall someone that looked familiar.

She only recognized him the day he woke up. Upon setting her eyes on those familiar and dangerous russet eyes. Although she was surprised to see him again, Zoey thought it must have been fate that he would appear out of nowhere.

Hence, Zoey roped him around her. She played it dirty and instead of showing understanding and leniency. Fortunately, he didn't seem to remember that night or her. Making easier for her to be less awkward.

Well, it was no surprise that he couldn't remember. As far as she could remember, Matthew Xi didn't taste or reek of alcohol that night. Unlike her, he seemed he only had a bit of drinks.

Regardless, Zoey couldn't care less. Whether someone drugged him or he just couldn't hold his alcohol, it didn't matter. What matters was the present and how this relationship would turn out.

Zoey wanted to witness the end of this story of the man that often appeared whenever she was in a desperate situation. Funny enough, he wouldn't arrive like a knight in shining armor saving the damsel in distress. Rather, he would appear in a more desperate state that would make her think her problem was too shallow.

"Haha," She chuckled, shaking her head at her last thought. Back to reality, Zoey straightened her stance and searched for her phone. Reminiscing the past, it made her want to hear his voice.

It's been six days and waiting for another day, Zoey was not that patient. She already waited, that was enough.

Checking her messages, the side of her lips curled seeing that he already read her last chat. As usual, he left it like that and didn't respond. Hence, trying out her luck, Zoey dialed his contact number.

It rang four times before he answered. Obviously, Matthew Xi was not the type of person to speak first. Thus, Zoey greeted.

"I miss you~" alas, her greeting wasn't always the normal greeting. However, Matthew Xi was unfazed as he glanced at the Z Image Group's building.

The man he saw earlier, it wouldn't leave his mind. He had this gut feeling that there's something going on. Little did he know, that gut feeling was Zoey's cunning plans, not what he thought it was.

"Hey, Mister, are you giving me the cold shoulders again? Eh? Didn't you miss me?" Zoey frowned, feeling dejected as he didn't share the same energy as her. "And here I am, having a wet dream about you and me." She muttered, plopping herself back to the couch. Ezekiel Tang's visit made her want to slack off because he's truly a disappointment in this society.

Upon hearing her last remarks, Matthew Xi arched his right brow. Although he knew she wasn't serious, it still affected him a little, causing the tip of his ears to flush and leaving his throat dry. He wondered how she could spout scandalous remarks as if it was normal.

"You don't have to pick me up." After several seconds, Matthew Xi said with his unchanging inexpressive tone.

His initial plan of visiting Zoey after a hell week of working changed completely. He was tired and he didn't want to think irrationally if he see her.

After all, most of their meetings often end up with unpleasant note. Therefore, to avoid that from happening, Matthew Xi would rather go home and take a rest.

"Tsk tsk tsk!" Shaking her head, Zoey glanced at her phone as she clicked her tongue before placing it back on her ear. "This is how I am being treated after shooing away my ex that wants to get back with me. Tsk tsk tsk!" Sounding dejected, Zoey dramatically spouted. Although it was the truth, it still sounded as a lie.

If Matthew Xi didn't see that man earlier, he would think she was bluffing. 'So it's her ex...' he thought, scoffing internally.

It seemed that his rivals were everywhere. They spawn like some annoying mushrooms.

"I'll see you tomorrow." With that said note, Matthew Xi hung up. Zoey didn't have a chance to tease him more as he ended the line immediately.

After ending the call, Matthew Xi speed dialed his assistant, Paul Qian. As soon as his assistant answered, Matthew Xi didn't go around in circles. "Gather information of who were owners of KHAOS 2019 limited edition xxx." He commanded.

Since the car was a limited edition and only a few of it was manufactured in the world, it was easier for him to track down that man. Although it would be easier to ask Zoey about Zoey's ex, instead of going through the trouble, Matthew Xi still chose the latter. Talk about being rash despite being exhausted.

"Ah... alright, Young Master." Baffled at this sudden request, Paul Qian knitted his brows. Still, he abided despite his puzzlement.

"I need them tonight." He affirmed before ending the call. Glancing at the Z Image Group, Matthew Xi deeply sighed.

He could have ask her. However, he didn't want her to think silly ideas. Moreover, he didn't want Zoey to think he was overbearing and a bit possessive.

After all, as long as they were dating, he considered her as his. Hence, he didn't want any fly joining in in this relationship. Be it being lenient or being brutal, Matthew Xi preferred that she wouldn't know about it.

*****

At night, Matthew Xi received all the files he asked for. As expected from Paul Qian, he also made a background check on each and everyone of the owners of the limited edition car.

Matthew Xi scanned each files. At the third profile, a glint flickered across his eyes. "Tang Ezekiel..." he muttered, the side of his lips curled into a smirk.

"How should I end you?" He whispered, amused that the man had a bright future. A future that would never reach his ground.

It might be arrogant of Matthew Xi to think like that. However, it was a fact. The Tang Family could be considered as same level as the Sun's.

But, what amused Matthew Xi more was that Ezekiel Tang was engaged. Yet, he was still visiting Zoey. Matthew Xi didn't care if Zoey and Ezekiel Tang had reconciled as friends or not.

What matters to him was that he didn't wish for anyone to bear even the slightest feelings to covet what's his. "She's driving me mad, really...."
