Chapter 126 - Let's Be Crazy Together

[PRESENT TIME]

"Darling?" Cocking her head to the side, Zoey stared at Matthew Xi who was in a daze.

Upon hearing her voice, Matthew Xi snapped back to reality and raised his brows. "Hmm?"

"What are you thinking? I have never seen you space out before." Zoey said before shoving a spoonful of soup inside her mouth.

"Nothing."

"Are you sure?" Narrowing her eyes, Zoey asked again suspiciously. "What happened last night? Are you sure nothing happened? My body aches as if I wrestled with someone the entire night." She added, touching her stiff shoulders.

Zoey had a habit of drinking at least once a week to unwind. Whether she has company or alone, Zoey used this method to release her stress.

However, Zoey knew her body well. She might normally wake up with a hangover, but her body would always be fine. Was this because of the kind of wine she consumed last night?

Well, the wine last night was strong. Hence, Zoey could also take that into consideration. Still, it was a little weird.

"Mhmm," Nodding his head as he hummed a tune, Matthew Xi supported his head by the back of his hand. "Are you going to work today?" He diverted her attention by asking a simple question, yet he too was uncertain of the answer.

"No, I can't." Shaking her head sideways, Zoey sighed and spooned another portion of soup. "Darling, my employees can't see me in this messed up state. What would you think if you see your boss with a hangover? I'm already grateful you didn't take me back to the office." In a matter-of-fact tone, Zoey uttered as she finished her soup and took some medicine for the hangover.

"How about you? Don't you have work?" After gulping a mouthful of water, Zoey turned to him as he seemed like he didn't need to catch up to the office.

"I don't." Recalling his mother's words last night, Matthew Xi felt like having a headache.

Although it was easy for him to call Paul Qian and tell him that he could go to work, Matthew Xi decided not to. After all, he considered that Zoey wouldn't be fine being alone today.

He was right. Because of her hangover, Zoey barely had energy to tease him. She was rather normal, behaving just like how a normal person behaved.

"Wow... if I didn't know better, I'd really think you're the owner of your company. How can you have so much free time?" Nodding her head in amusement, Zoey could not help but notice.

For a second, Matthew Xi just glanced at her. "What if I am?" He asked, arching his brows as he studied her expression.

"Are you?" Blinking her eyes many times, Zoey cocked her head to the side as she pondered. "Well..."

"Well?"

"Hehe. Well, I'd expect a briefcase full of cash being presented to me to leave you alone." Imagining a scene from a normal Telenovela, Zoey giggled. "Then I'd say, 'keep your money. I don't need that!'"

"Uh..." Not expecting and at the same time, expecting this kind of ridiculous answer from her, Matthew Xi could only stare at her. She never failed to render him speechless every time — it was amusing in a way.

"I never understand those kinds of drama. I mean, some mothers in those series bother to slap the female protagonists with some cash. But can't they understand that just a little amount of that cash can't compare to the luxuries if the female lead becomes the Madam? It just doesn't make sense." Sighing heavily, Zoey shared her thoughts on some plot holes of the dramas she used to watch.

"Mhmm..." Not having enough energy to listen about her comments regarding those dramas he never watched, Matthew Xi just hummed a tune.

"Darling, are you alright?" Seeing his strange lack of interest — although he was always disinterested in many things — Zoey wondered.

"I haven't slept yet." Glancing at her, Matthew Xi closed his eyes while resting his head on the back of his hand.

"Eh?! Why?"

"Don't drink anymore. Let's add that to our deal." Instead of giving her the exact reason, Matthew Xi felt like this was more important.

For him, he wouldn't drink again whenever she's around. If Zoey was already dangerous whenever she's intoxicated, he was way worse even when sober.

"Did I cause you trouble? But I was very well-behaved last night!" Puzzled at his words, Zoey knitted her brows.

Unbeknownst to her, in that instant, Matthew Xi had the urge to flip the table out of frustration. Behaved? In what way? If that's what she called acting with decorum, Matthew Xi would consider himself as an epitome of good manner and right conduct.

[Continuation of last night's occurrence]

"I can't sleep in this — it's so tight." Matthew Xi watched the helpless frown plastered across her lips, causing him to gulp a mouthful of saliva.

"Darling, help me, please?" She didn't sound seductive, yet Matthew Xi heard the clanking of chains as they broke within him.

A glint flashed across his pair of russet eyes, before he wordlessly pinned her down below him. "Darling...?"

"Are you really testing me?" Under his breath, he asked as he locked his gaze at the gleam in her eyes.

"Hehe. Help me." Before those dangerous russet eyes, Zoey grinned as she carelessly hooked her arms behind his neck. Her breath wafted in his nose, making him sniff the scent of the wine that somehow aroused him.

As soon as she uttered those words, his gaze darkened as his body heat rose up. He slowly crept his hand on her back, while Zoey instinctively arched her back to give his hand easy access.

It only took him a few seconds to find the zip of her tight dress, which he unzipped. As he did so, Matthew Xi touched her delicate skin that almost made his mind explode — turning him a little crazy.

"Darling, why did you stop?" Knitting her brows, Zoey slightly drew her head back as she stared at him.

"Because you're driving me crazy." In between his heavy breaths, Matthew Xi stared at her in the eyes as he clenched his teeth.

"I'm crazy too. Let's be crazy together." Smiling, Zoey leaned forward and soon, her lips were on him.

As soon as their lips met, a loud sound of drums rang inside his head as his hand resumed unzipping her dress.
