Chapter 132 - Vivian Xi's Invitation

Matthew Xi stared at her arrogant visage as a smug grin formed on her lips. "No." He answered, shaking his head. "Let them fix their own problems"

"Browny, you don't understand. My brother and Cora can't do that themselves since they are the problem!" Zoey argued, breathing out heavily as she frowned.

"Cora might not notice it but my big brother is so into her. First, I wanted them to figure it out themselves, but it just keeps dragging on and on; they would even beat all long completed novels! This is more distressing than Qiao Anhao and Lu Jinnian love story." After a deep sigh, Zoey stood straight as her adamant resolve flickered across her eyes.

"Do whatever you want, just don't drag me in it." Watching her decide on which route their story should proceed towards, Matthew Xi nearly rolled his eyes.

"Ehh... my darling," Glancing at his nonchalance, Zoey smirked and pounced on him. "Help me, okay? Or else I'll misbehave! I'll go straight to the XI Corporation and declare my love for you!" Zoey giggled as a smug grin surfaced on her lips.

Somehow, Matthew Xi could not help but believe her words. After all, Zoey does what she says no matter how crazy and embarrassing it was.

"Fine..." Alas, unlike how her reaction would be, Zoey gave him a look of disdain instead. "???" Tilting his head to the side, Matthew Xi furrowed his brows in confusion.

"Browny, are you that ashamed of me? Any man would have butterflies in their stomach if someone as pretty as me declared their love for them!" Finding wrong in everything, Zoey stated grumpily.

"My... co-workers," Thinking of something to counter her point, Matthew Xi glanced at her. "I mean, do you want me to help or not...?" Instead of reasoning out, Matthew Xi recalled their initial subject before it was diverted again into this nonsense.

Pursing her lips, Zoey gulped as she realized that she didn't make sense too. "Sorry." Rolling her eyes, Zoey raised her brows briefly.

Matthew Xi just shook his head sideways but didn't dwell on her not so sorry tone. At the very least, he managed to escape that office talk.

"First thing in the morning, we'll barge inside KGH and prance our way to my Big Bro's office!"

"I'll pick you up tomorrow, alright." Nodding his head, Matthew Xi agreed, which made her right brow arch.

"You won't stay here for tonight?"

"No,"

"Ehh? Why?" Feeling a little discouraged, Zoey frowned. She didn't consider that he would go home today. After all, he didn't seem as if he had plans to leave her alone.

"I just don't want to." Matthew Xi shrugged his shoulders in nonchalance. Glancing at her dejected front, he watched her slowly wobble down and rest her head on his lap again.

"I want us to be together forever... darling, why don't you just marry me so we'd be together day and night!" Lacking of energy, Zoey flashed him a sad look.

"..." Slightly used to her unfiltered words, Matthew Xi looked down and stared back at her. 'Should we do that?' Was what he wondered as he felt the same.

However, knowing her for less than a month, and being 'sexually' attracted to her while bearing uncertain feelings was not enough to call for wedding bells. Although Matthew Xi didn't see himself getting married in the past, he still considered marriage as sacred.

The more reason he had been strongly against arranged marriage that her mother proposed. Matthew Xi didn't want to live the rest of his life with a woman he wouldn't care about.

Regardless, that also meant he would hate to have a divorce if life got overwhelming or if they couldn't understand each other anymore. Hence, although he could agree with her, Matthew Xi often kept his silence as she was used to it, anyway. Silence had always been the best answer to her, after all.

Receiving no verbal response from him, Zoey's frown turned uglier. However, her displeasure slowly vanished when he stroked her hair.

Watching him turn his focus towards her hair as he stroked it gently, the corner of her lips slowly tilted into a smile. "Jeez... how can I even get mad at you?" She murmured, lying on her side as she let him stroke her hair.

"Simpleton." Unconsciously, a slight smile was plastered across his lips as he watched her close her eyes and murmur audibly.

"Still not mad." She chuckled, feeling like a princess being taken care of by her prince. It was simple, but it gave warmth to her heart.

Also, with every delicate stroke, Zoey felt like a baby who could fall asleep anytime. Well, she had already fallen asleep earlier but abruptly woke up because of Cora Ma's call.

Matthew Xi kept brushing her hair with his finger until Zoey fell asleep. Stopping for a second, he stared at her and his eyes softened.

'This is actually better...' he whispered internally, liking the ambience around them. Unlike last night, he preferred this sweet and simple Zoey.

Meanwhile...

"Madam Xi, I didn't know you'd also be here today!" Olivia Tang, bearing a humble mien, approached Vivian Xi as she exited the temple.

Glancing at the somewhat familiar woman before her, Vivian Xi arched her brows.

"My apologies, Madam Xi. My surname is Tang, Tang Olivia of the Tang Group of Companies." Taking a step back, Olivia Tang introduced herself out of courtesy and bowed her head slightly.

Although Vivian Xi didn't want to waste her energy on this woman, she nodded her head as an acknowledgement. Well, with her status, Vivian Xi was already used to this kind of approach and mastered how to shoo them away without being rude.

"Madam Xi, did you also visit the temple for a marriage blessing for young master Xi?" Keeping the conversation going, Olivia Tang smiled as she showed hundred percent interest. She knew that Vivian Xi had always prayed for her son's love life. Hence, Olivia Tang immediately opened about it as she noticed Vivian Xi's high spirits before she approached her.

Glancing at the energetic woman, Vivian Xi only flashed a smile and nodded her head. She knew if she showed zero interest, this conversation wouldn't last long. Little did she know, Olivia Tang would soon pique her interest.

"My son is also getting married soon, so I came to pray for God's blessing!" Chuckling despite the lack of interest from the latter, Olivia Tang raised her brows as an idea flashed across her mind. "Last night was their engagement party. Madam, did you know that one of my son's guests had someone disguised as Young Master Xi?" As soon as Olivia Tang spouted her last remarks, she covered her mouth as if it was unintentional.

As soon as Vivian Xi heard that, she narrowed her eyes as she turned her head to the woman. "Disguised as my son? Mrs. Tang, what do you mean by that?" She asked, arching her right brow.

"Well..." as if anxious by the slip of the tongue, Olivia Tang raised her conflicted gaze.

"Hmm?"

"Well, you see Madam Xi, someone pretended to be young master Xi last night. However, we uncovered their scheme, and it turns out he just had the same name as Young Master Xi who also works in Xi Corporation!" Olivia Tang sighed, shaking her head as if she was conned with a huge amount of money.

However, Vivian Xi didn't seem displeased or anything of the sort. If anything, she was intrigued. Someone with the same name as her son and also works in the XI Corporation?

'That's interesting...' Slowly, the corner of Vivian Xi's lips curled into a knowing smirk. As far as she knew, no one works in the Xi Corporation that has the same full name as her son. No one would dare and wouldn't take the pressure of bearing the same name under the same environment as Matthew Xi.

"Madam Tang, how about you join me for a tea? I am very interested in this con you were talking about." Unlike her lack of interest, Vivian Xi had a complete change of heart as she suddenly turned friendly.
