Chapter 203 - Falling Deep

Meanwhile...

"Z, what's wrong with you this morning?" Cora ma inquired, glancing at Zoey who was oddly silent as she drove, bearing that gloomy frown plastered across her lips.

"Did... did Mr. Xi do or say something that displeased you?" Receiving no response from Zoey, Cora Ma investigated. "Perhaps, something happened last night...?" Couldn't help but wonder, Cora Ma unconsciously spouted.

"Nothing," bearing no emotion, Zoey answered which made her frown worsen!

"Eh?" Cora Ma knitted her brows, "Then, why are you so upset?" Facing Zoey who was on the driver's seat, Cora Ma perked her chin up as her genuine concern was revealed by the gleam of her eyes.

"Same reason, Sis. Same reason." Zoey exhaled heavily, glancing at the front passenger seat before she reverted her eyes back on the road. "It's because nothing happened last night, or rather the past three weeks!" Zoey's tone escalated from her gloomy, disheartened one to a loud rant.

"I mean, I'm pretty sure I never let a chance to charm him slip away but to no avail!" Zoey exclaimed, letting out another heavy sigh laced with disappointment.

"Err..." Massaging her shoulder, Cora Ma pondered on what good advice she could give. Alas, no matter how much she racked her brain, nothing came out that would probably suit this situation.

Knowing Zoey and her antics of seducing men, Cora Ma had even considered Zoey the goddess of seduction. However, this was the first time she heard about a man who could resist Zoey's charms!

After all, Cora Ma thought that Zoey and Matthew Xi's relationship progressed enormously. They were living under the same roof. Hence, who would have thought that there's no such thing as progress in this story?

(A/N: Oy! Are you insulting me?! I gave you love life!! *flips table*)

"The most distressing part is... I think I'm starting to fall for him... for real." Zoey clicked her tongue, admitting her feelings towards Matthew Xi.

She didn't notice where this feeling came from nor did she notice when it began to grow within her. She just somehow found herself staring at him, admiring how he worked diligently.

There were times she wondered what he had in mind and what he thinks whenever he caught her staring at him. More than that, Zoey's heart could not help but let her heart flutter whenever he was being gentle and rough at the same time.

She could not help but feel overwhelmed by the times they kiss — brief or deep ones. Yet, deep down, she wanted more.

"Z..." Cora Ma studied Zoey's side profile as her cheeks slightly blushed, her countenance slowly brightened in delight. "Did — did you just say you're falling for Browny?!" Clasping her hands together, Cora Ma probed excitedly which was responded by Zoey's worsening mood.

"I did," Frowning once again, she sighed deeply for the nth time. Contemplating about the 'image to keep' that stopped her from spewing nonsensical words the previous night, Zoey decided. "But I think he's gay." Upon saying that, Zoey rolled her eyes while Cora Ma's smile stiffened as if Zoey's words popped her bubbles.

"Ahh???"

"How did I come up with that conclusion? Well, who wouldn't get aroused sleeping with a big breasted, sexy woman with a pretty face?" In a matter-of-fact tone, Zoey sounded as if she was lifting her own chair up. However, Cora Ma couldn't disagree as it was true.

If Cora Ma was a man, she was certain she'd fall for Zoey. If not, she would still get seduced and tempted especially if she had to be with Zoey almost twenty-four hours a day.

"If he's not gay, why wouldn't touch me, eh? Not that I want him to climb up my bed and harass me while I'm asleep! But, you know, he never showed any signs that he's tempted! If anything, he always seemed dismayed whenever the situation got us closer than usual!" Zoey vented in one go, recalling all the past events from three weeks ago.

Regardless if he often uses the trick of 'not liking her back as his theme for his game', Zoey already found that excuse as questionable. After all, he might have been using that to conceal the fact that he's gay and to have a free shelter.

Yet, despite having that answer in mind, Zoey could not just kick him out of her house. For some reason, she wanted him to like her back and iron his gender references deep down. Just that it's a little difficult at the moment as her heart was unstable and uncertain.

"Z," Biting her bottom lip, Cora Ma glanced at Zoey before her lips stretched into a thin line. "Why don't you just confront him like you usually do? I mean, it might clear the misunderstanding just like how you cleared my misunderstanding with your brother." Sounding a little hesitant, Cora Ma raised her brows as she advised.

Well, for Zoey to keep her thoughts in herself was quite out of character. She knew Zoey; she's the type of person who would verbally stake her claim or announce her feelings about certain things.

Zoey was a very open person — Cora Ma knew her as someone like that as they'd been friends since forever. One of the many reasons Cora Ma admired Zoey because unlike Zoey, Cora Ma was rather timid in expressing herself.

"Well..." Upon hearing Cora Ma's words, Zoey's grip on the steering wheel tightened briefly.

If Zoey didn't genuinely get attached with Matthew Xi, she would have boldly confessed like she usually does. However, Zoey knew her feelings this time around were real and not superficial.

Thus, these problems resurfaced. What would happen if she confronted Matthew Xi? He's an honest guy and would answer her with the truth.

What if he admitted that he's just using her for the time being until he recovered from his problems? What would happen then?

There were too many 'what ifs' and Zoey found herself in a more complicated position the more she thought about it. Perhaps, the consequences of what would happen if she acted rashly was what stopped her from doing so.

She was not ready just yet. Whether letting Matthew Xi go or being alone again — she wasn't prepared... just yet.

"Well?" Raising her brows, Cora Ma peered at Zoey as she patiently waited for her response.

"Well, we're here and it's time to pick your wedding dress!" Zoey diverted the subject as she forced a smile on her lips as she turned to Cora Ma. "Don't worry about me. I was just being bitter earlier but I'll be fine.. What you should worry for now is to decide which dress you want to wear on your wedding day, alright?" Zoey reassured, putting up her cheerful persona which made Cora Ma frown.
