Chapter 231 - Oh... When’s The Wedding?

When Zoey and Matthew Xi arrived at her place, he turned towards her who had fallen asleep with his coat wrapped around her. As he watched her, the corner of his lips curled into a gentle smile as his eyes softened.

Slowly, he raised his hand as he caressed the side of her face. His mind automatically whispered, 'I love you' because staring at her brought butterflies in his stomach.

Perhaps, this was what love truly feels. It brought a phenomenal sensation in his heart that no one would be able to explain it in words.

Just by staring at her, Matthew Xi felt emotional to the extent that his eyes grew watery. He was never an emotional person and nothing seemed to make him cry.

However, just thinking how she magically turned up in his life, shook his world, and gave him a rollercoaster of emotions... he was utterly grateful. His hand could not stop shaking as he reached for hers and guided it to his lips.

Matthew Xi kissed the back of her hand, before he inched away and leaned his back in the driver's seat. He didn't want to disturb her sleep as she had a long day.

With that being said, Matthew Xi closed his eyes as both of them rested inside the car despite arriving home — hands intertwined together. Still, his mind wandered to the future. A future he never thought he would have: a married man with an unparalleled woman by his side as his lover, companion and mother of his children.

Just then, Matthew Xi felt his phone vibrate in his pocket which made his eyes slowly open. Checking who it was, Matthew Xi immediately answered as he saw his mother's name on it.

"Son, where are you?" From the other end of the line, Vivian Xi inquired.

"Mom, I'm sorry about earlier." Yet, instead of answering her question, Matthew Xi apologized for what he had done earlier.

Deep down, he was well aware that he had gone overboard. Zoey might not know what he had done, but he was certain Zoey had already guessed that it was something serious.

"..." For a second, Vivian Xi remained silent as she blinked her eyes many times. Although she demanded an apology, she didn't expect that her son who had never apologized and often justified his actions like a cunning lawyer, was apologizing!

"Son, did my little Zoey succeed?" A little baffled, Vivian Xi asked to confirm. After all, her son sounded like a new person!

"No," Chuckling lightly, Matthew Xi shifted his gaze to the woman sleeping on the passenger seat. "I succeeded." He corrected, feeling the sense of extreme ardor circling around his heart.

"Oh... when's the wedding? You promised me that you will let me assist in arranging the wedding!" From surprised to extreme excitement, Vivian Xi reminded as her lips stretched into a wide grin while her eyes sparkled.

"Where's my little Zoey? I want to talk to her! Oh, she should move here so we can spend more time together!" Vivian Xi added, suggesting the impossible as he didn't want to share her.

"Her schedule is packed for the whole month. I'll drop by in RB Entertainment tomorrow. Thank you." With that said note, Matthew Xi immediately dropped the call even before his mother could respond.

Since he had been Zoey's assistant, Matthew Xi knew her schedule as if it was written on the back of his hand. Hence, he informed his mother so she wouldn't expect anything for now.

Still, considering what he had done earlier to his cousins: Enzo Li and Ruby Xi, Matthew Xi guessed that it upset both of them — especially Ruby Xi. After all, she had been working hard to establish her reputation as an independent business-woman but he just had to intervene midway.

Well, Matthew Xi never apologizes because he never did anything unreasonable until today. Therefore, he felt that he had to personally apologize to his cousins and humble himself.

What great power love possessed that it could change a person within a snap of a finger. Matthew Xi's perspective and view somehow broadened with the help of this so-called LOVE.

"Hmm?" Suddenly, Zoey groaned as her weary eyes opened. Glancing at Matthew Xi who was staring at her, Zoey then shifted her gaze outside the windshield.

"We're home." Matthew Xi informed as she rubbed her drooping eyes.

"Darling, I fell asleep..?" A little disappointed that she fell asleep, Zoey frowned.

"It's fine." Offering her a loving smile, Matthew Xi slowly hitched outside and jogged over to the front passenger seat.

When he opened the front passenger seat, Zoey was languidly unbuckling her seatbelt as if she wasn't fully awake yet. "Thank you," as Matthew Xi picked up her handbag and assisted her out, Zoey smiled weakly as she hugged his arms.

"Baby, hug~!" As they walked towards the house, Zoey stopped as she raised both her hands with a sweet smile. Thanks to his coat that was covering her front, she didn't have to worry.

Staring at her sweet smile, Matthew Xi took a step forward as he pulled her into his embrace. Zoey wrapped her arms around his neck while her legs wrapped in his. She was akin to a monkey clinging on to a tall tree.

Obviously, this position didn't bring comfort to him as her weight was on his legs and neck. "Let's walk like this!" Zoey proposed, liking how she was clinging onto him like a child.

"We might trip over." In a matter-of-fact tone, Matthew Xi shook his head as he could see them crashing. "You can hop on my back." He proposed an easier position.

However, Zoey pouted as she shook her head. "Ihh!" She disagreed, fluttering her eyelashes as she cast him her puppy eyes.

"Zoey..."

Just as Matthew Xi called her name, the front door opened to reveal Zion Kwan and Cora Ma who were off to somewhere. As soon as Cora Ma and Zion Kwan laid their eyes on the two figures outside, both unconsciously twitched their faces.

There, Zoey was clinging on to Matthew Xi like a child weighing her father down! Meanwhile, Matthew Xi just sighed as if he could not discipline his naughty Zoey.

"Ah..." Cora Ma who wasn't ready to meet Matthew Xi again, laughed awkwardly. "You both seem to be having fun.. Ha ha!" She added, elbowing her fiance to speak something.
