Chapter 237 - A Creep

"God..." Zoey heard distorted noises from the other end of the phone, making her roll her eyes in disbelief.

"So he went to see you last night. No wonder he suddenly disappeared from the party." Since Zoey had busted his little secret, Patrizio Moretti sighed as he frowned.

"Z, you know I can't stop Niko from tagging along — much more stopping him from seeing you." In a matter-of-fact tone, Patrizio Moretti reasoned out as it was the truth.

After all, Nikolai was like the male version of Zoey... even worse in his own opinion. Hence, how could Patrizio Moretti stop the man from doing what he wanted to do? Nikolai is a free man... and not at the same time.

"Can you tell him to not do it in the most creepy way?" Zoey scoffed, shaking her head in disbelief as there was no need to pull such tricks just to meet her... or so, what she wanted to believe.

"Z, are you sure about what you said?" Suddenly, Patrizio Moretti's apologetic tone grew solemn upon her last remarks.

At the same time, Zoey pursed her lips together as she spoke nonsense again. "I mean... I'm free from him, right? I repaid everything I owed him..." Her tone changed, shaking at the last part of her statement.

"Z, you know that's not what Niko wants." Still bearing his solemn tone, Patrizio Moretti remarked.

If Zoey was in front of him, Patrizio Moretti would have held her hand and looked her in the eye. Just yesterday, he had the same beliefs as Zoey.

However, upon hearing that Zoey said Nikolai came to meet her, Patrizio Moretti's mind changed as well. After all, the man said that if he was going to see Zoey before next week, he wouldn't let her go easily.

"And I don't care — tell him that. I paid him with interest. Also, I am now happy with my boyfriend, he should just back off." Despite Patrizio Moretti's reminder, Zoey's resolve didn't wane nor the thought of that person scared her.

Although Nikolai could be scary sometimes, Zoey knew the man more than anyone else. Hence, she believed he would give her his blessing as Zoey found herself a man she was willing to marry before Nikolai's 30th birthday.

"Is that Zia?" All of a sudden, Zoey heard a deep, baritone voice of a man coming from the other end of the line; that familiar deep voice, akin to a still lake that hid the dangers of its depth.

"Uh, Niko!" Jolting from his seat, Patrizio Moretti glanced up at the half naked man. "Man, can you dress up? I'm gay, okay? Don't tease me like that!" By the looks of it, he just came from the shower as water dripped from the tip of his hair and disappeared under the towel wrapped around his waist.

"Let me talk to her." Walking nonchalantly towards Patrizio Moretti whose eyes sparked at this delicious specimen, the man extended his hand, gesturing him to hand over the phone.

"Z, I will give the phone to Niko." Bewitched at Nikolai's charms while standing half naked in front of him, Patrizio Moretti nodded his head and informed Zoey.

"Thank you," As soon as the phone landed in his hands, Nikolai brushed his dangling and drenched hair back as he walked out of the room.

Meanwhile, Patrizio Moretti could not help but bite his lower lip, watching Nikolai's broad and toned back — his numerous scars aside — retreat from the room. "I wonder why Zoey never fell for him." He muttered, convinced that Nikolai's looks were better than anyone she dated.

"You've become naughtier, princess." As soon as Nikolai stepped his foot outside the room, he remarked and didn't bother closing the door behind him.

The corner of his lips curled upward, revealing his small even white teeth. By the looks of it, he wasn't as creepy as what Zoey described him. In contrast, he seemed to be a normal guy... aside from his godly looks, one wouldn't even dare call him creepy.

"Hey, Nikolai Silvestri, I'm telling you I am about to get married! Stop being creepy!" Grinding her teeth, Zoey scolded as he sounded chill despite giving her a shock!

"You do?" Stopping in his tracks, Nikolai Silvestri smirked as an inexplicable glint flashed across his hazel eyes.

"Uh huh! Don't go jumping into the picture, okay? I found my happiness, don't you dare ruin it!" Frowning, Zoey didn't filter her words and warned him harshly.

Everyone knew that Zoey was the only one who could talk to him in that way. And yet, Zoey didn't care as this man was the most persistent man she had ever known in her life! He was so persistent to the point it was utterly annoying.

"Good for you, princess. Should I send my congratulatory gifts? To your company or to XI Corporation?" Plopping down on the couch, Nikolai Silvestri smiled as he humored her.

"Not funny, no, you're never funny. I hate your jokes." Zoey shook her head and didn't find his remarks funny from any angle. Considering she was talking to this person, Zoey could only think of all creepy things as gifts. Therefore, she didn't want to startle Matthew Xi for receiving whatever gifts this man could think of.

"Hey, are you still there?" Knitting her brows, Zoey checked her phone to see if the line was disconnected as he wasn't saying anything.

"Yes, I am here to accompany you. However, you were talking too slow that my gifts arrived at the XI Corporation."

"..." Speechless, Zoey ended the line which caused Nikolai Silvestri to chuckle. "I'm kidding, Princess. Such a paranoid lady." He muttered before tossing his phone to the side and rested his back on the soft couch.

"Why would I need to jump into the picture if Xi Matthew will throw you out of it?" Staring at the ceiling, the side of his lips hooked into a smirk as he was confident that Zoey would eventually return to him?
