"Okay, bye~ mua mua~!" After exchanging corny sweet lines with Matthew Xi, Zoey finally ended the phone call that lasted for an hour.
As soon as she did, a sigh of relief escaped her lips. It seemed that Nikolai Silvestri just teased her.
"Urgh! I want to skin him alive!" Frustrated that she was paranoid for nothing, Zoey ground her teeth as she stopped herself from throwing her phone away.
"Know what he wants my *ss!" Recalling Patrizio Moretti's words earlier, Zoey scoffed in ridicule.
Who were they fooling? Sure, Zoey promised Nikolai Silvestri that she would marry him once he turned 30 if Zoey wasn't married yet.
However, that was just to make him stop from pestering her. After all, Zoey was certain she wouldn't reach this age without a love life.
One of the many reasons she was desperate to get a man a few months ago was this. Knowing how keen Nikolai Silvestri's memory was, Zoey knew deep down he could still remember.
Still, what upset Zoey was that it seemed she was now under that man's surveillance. He didn't tell her directly, but knowing where she was, who she was with, and so on... Nikolai Silvestri was back at being a simp!
Although he was mostly harmless, he held a high position with a cynical personality that made him dangerous! That was why Zoey was troubled when this man from her past suddenly came back from the dead.
"Damn... my brother is getting married and it's a saying that marrying in the same year as family members will bring bad omen." Thinking about getting married tomorrow, Zoey muttered as she buried her face on her palm in frustration.
"Should I ask my brother to let me marry first?" With her face buried on her palm, Zoey whispered as she thought of ways to get rid of the obsessed Nikolai Silvestri out of the picture.
For her, to make him back out, she needed to be married to someone. After all, although Nikolai Silvestri was crazy, he still knew the lines he shouldn't cross — being a third party.
However, thinking how excited Zion Kwan and Cora Ma were for their upcoming wedding, Zoey could not help but sigh. Could she take away their happiness?
Perhaps, she could... or not?
"Damn it!" Thinking of her great dilemma, Zoey could not help but curse. After a while staying in silence, Zoey decided to phone Patrizio Moretti again.
She failed at the first attempt which made her frown. Yet, Zoey kept on ringing him as she needed to settle this truce with Nikolai Silvestri before next week!
On her third attempt, the line finally connected to Zoey's relief. "Patty, is this revenge for not picking up your calls in the past?!" Displeased, Zoey hissed as Patrizio Moretti took his precious time to answer.
However, the next second caused Zoey's brows to twitch. "I'm sorry, Princess. I was on the way to a business meeting." Nikolai Silvestri's voice was the person she heard from the other end of the call.
"Eh? Should I apologize for interrupting you and not the owner of this number?" Zoey raised her brows as she spouted her sarcastic remark. If she knew he would be the one answering the call, Zoey wouldn't have thought of calling this number again.
"I'm the owner of this phone now, what are you saying?"
Upon hearing his reply, Zoey nearly choked herself to death due to anger. She didn't question his words because considering who she was talking to, that was possible.
"Anyway, didn't you call Pat to ask about me?" Chuckling at the silence from the other end of the line, Nikolai Silvestri glanced at the person who came inside the private dining area and smiled.
"What does my Princess want to tell me? Answer me because my meeting is about to start." Nikolai Silvestri added, arching his right brow as the corner of his lips curled into a smirk as the other person perched on the seat across him.
"Let's have a deal." Without further ado, Zoey cleared her mind as she went straight to the point. "I'll send you my proposal in three days." She added as she was uncertain if it was safe to meet him before or after his birthday party.
After all, he might kidnap her and fly her across the world. Although Zoey knew he would just leave her there, that would be a hassle to travel across the country back and forth.
"No, unless you personally hand the proposal to me, I won't accept anything." Shaking his head, Nikolai Silvestri humored as he gestured a polite apology to the person across him.
"I'm sorry. My fiancee is being naughty." He said, smiling at Matthew Xi who kept his unchanging front.
"It's fine." Nodding his head, Matthew Xi didn't mind the slight delay as he could understand the person.
Moreover, not that Matthew Xi didn't have a whole day to spend with this man. After all, his schedule for the day was emptied to meet the person who monopolized businesses in Europe: Nikolai Silvestri.
"What the..." As soon as Zoey heard her darling's voice, her eyes widened as her entire face distorted in disbelief.
"Nikolai Silvestri, where the damn earth are you?" Her voice thundered as Zoey jolted from her seat as she slammed her palm on her office desk.
"Oh my princess, let's talk later okay? Don't miss me that much." Despite Zoey's roar, Nikolai Silvestri's smile grew into a large grin before he ended the line.
"I'm sorry about that, Mr. Xi. Anyway, it's nice to meet you." Casting his hazel orbs towards Matthew Xi, Nikolai Silvestri apologized. Seeing that Matthew Xi stared at the woman next to him, he smiled. "She's my secretary for the day... I hope you don't mind?" Tucking the hair of the woman beside him, Nikolai Silvestri glanced back at Matthew Xi.
Meanwhile, Matthew Xi just glanced at the woman and the man across him. In his eyes, the woman next to Nikolai Silvestri had a few similarities to Zoey.
The style of her hair, the shape of her face, the frame of her body, and even the small mole on the outer corner of her left eye. Still, what baffled Matthew Xi was; didn't the latter say he was talking to his fiancee? Then, why was he acting too intimate and touchy towards 'his secretary'?
Regardless, that was out of Matthew Xi's concerns. After all, he heard that Nikolai Silvestri was an infamous womanizer. Hence, he could just take that he was indeed that kind of man.
Not that that would degrade his merits as a businessman. After all, Matthew Xi came to meet this person as a businessman and his personal opinion in his private life was unnecessary.
"No, I don't.. Shall we begin?" Shaking his head lightly, Matthew Xi retracted his gaze from the lady and returned them to Nikolai Silvestri.
