"Boss D!" In unison, everyone exclaimed, surprised at the presence of Matthew Xi.
Their shock wasn't the same when Matthew Xi first appeared in this building or the time when he started working as Zoey's assistant. This time, their shock was something none of them understood.
One thing for sure though, everyone reflected on their behavior around Matthew Xi in the past which caused their heart to sink into the gutter. Did they actually treat this godly man as someone who was standing on their level?!
"Oh almighty Mr. Xi!" Unlike usual, everyone subconsciously made a deep bow while Melanie Xue almost kowtowed before him.
"???" Matthew Xi, who was not used to this formality, furrowed his eyes innocently. He was used to this kind of treatment by others, but not by Zoey or her people.
He had seen them slack right in front of him, treated him not as just a colleague but also a friend, and even dragged him into gossip sessions out of his own will.
It was simple, and no one would dare do it to him. Even his own employees wouldn't dare approach him because of petty reasons. Still, Matthew Xi sort of liked how these people considered him as one of them and still gave an equal respect despite their unconventional ways.
Therefore, he frowned seeing them change instantly.
"Eh? Why is everyone still here?" Cocking her head to the side, Zoey knitted her brows as this was rather an unusual sight for her. Moreover, why were they looking at her darling as if he was a ghost?!
Zoey knew her lovely husband's looks were unparalleled, but weren't they used to it by now? Also, somehow, Zoey noticed that they're not just stunned but it was mixed with fear.
"Boss Zhou..." Luigi Chan's voice pitched thin, turning to Zoey begging for help with his eyes.
"Ah?" Tilting her head to the side more, Zoey's already creased brows knitted even more.
Taking a slight peek through the gap between her people, Zoey soon understood those weird expressions on their faces. "Ahh..." Zoey nodded her head, chuckling afterwards as she shook her head sideways.
No wonder these people were too stunned as they'd been too goofy around her darling. Now that they knew who he really was, their reaction was normal... they hadn't even gotten to the part of the news that they're already married.
"Guys, what's with that look on your face? Aren't you glad I married the most eligible bachelor in the country? You all should be honored that your boss's charm is beyond heavens!" Zoey chuckled, raising her chin up proudly with a smug curve on her lips.
Her figure gave off the radiance of a victor and someone who had saved the country. Looking at her sparkling figure, her people's eyes could not help but twitch; at the same time, they couldn't rebutt as it was slightly true.
"Boss Zhou, did you just say 'married'?" Accepting her blurry future, Melanie Xue used sarcasm as she assumed her boss was just getting ahead of herself.
In Melanie Xue's mind, Zoey and Matthew Xi were just dating. Although Zoey had a two weeks leave again, that's impossible for the two to get married, right? They didn't have a flash wedding, right?
Melanie Xue wasn't wrong though. It wasn't a flash wedding, it was faster than that!
[Interviewer: Mr. Xi, there were a lot of questions raised about your love life; what's Mr. Xi's current relationship status? Single? Or do you have someone special in your heart now?"]
[MX: My wife.]
His answer was brief, too short for the last question. But, that 'my wife', answered all the questions and probably broke a lot of young maiden's hearts.
Those words somehow resonated through their ears which made Melanie Xue, Luigi Chan, and the rest to gasp in disbelief. They're indeed married?! That soon?!
"Guys, calm down. We didn't hold a grand wedding yet, or else everyone would be invited. Anyway, we'll leave first." Shaking her head, Zoey could not help her lips from curling up as they were rather silly.
Meanwhile, Matthew Xi was just standing not far away from the group. Seeing that Zoey approached, he met her midway and insisted on holding onto her bag.
"Have a good night." Glancing at the group of employees, Matthew Xi slightly bowed his head as he assisted Zoey out.
Watching the couple depart the place, Melanie Xue and the rest blink their eyes many times. For some reason, Matthew Xi sounded like usual... as if he was who he was initially.
Knowing his identity or not, he was still humble with a cold visage. Moreover, Zoey's smiles were reserved but genuine.
"Are they really married...?" When the two figure couldn't be seen anymore, Luigi Chan murmured as they were out of words to put this shock and glee in their hearts.
They couldn't believe it. Its just felt surreal and impossible. Yet, the truth was already out and Matthew Xi was just standing there moments ago.
No one spoke and only the deep voice of Matthew Xi was heard from the interview as he humored the interviewer about his wife — sounding as if he could talk about her all day.

"Darling, how was your day?" Upon hitching inside the back passenger seat, Zoey immediately clung onto him even though the partition in the front wasn't completely rolled up.
Facing her sweet smile, Matthew Xi remained silent for a while as he stroked her hair. "I met your father." Shortly, he finally opened his mouth and told her the truth.
"Ahh..." Not surprised, Zoey nodded her head in understanding but didn't ask further questions.
"He said..." Matthew Xi paused, contemplating whether it was the best time to open up the subject that Zachery Kwan mentioned earlier.
"I did." As if guessing what he was about to tell her, Zoey openly admitted without batting an eye.
Her gaze briefly studied his reaction but to no avail. By the looks of it, Matthew Xi seemed like he had already accepted that she did it without explanation.
It was moving that Zoey's heart appreciated him for going to extra lengths to understand her pain. However, pain wasn't the cause of that accident because there's always the other side of the coin.
"Because he asked me to... do you believe me?" After swallowing down, Zoey added as she stared at him dead in the eye.
"I do." Although surprised and intrigued at the additional information, Matthew Xi nodded his head as he patted her hair. "I will only believe your version of the story even if it's a lie.." With a meek smile, Matthew Xi muttered while caressing her jaw gently.
