Chapter 371 - Is It True That You And Cora…?

Zion stayed for another hour inside the Z Image Building. He wasn't surprised at how small and a little unorganized it was at that moment. What was more important is that they seemed to be doing projects. Hence, Zion didn't probe further.

He then left after chatting with Zoey for another hour, catching up with one another. It was a little weird that Zoey was inclined to hear about the well-being of the Kwans. She rarely asked about them, or rather, never asked about Zachery earlier.

After that, he left Zoey. When he did, Zoey kept on staring at Zachery's phone number. "Hehehe…" She chuckled, her thumb hovered over her phone.

"I'm too prideful that I didn't accept this person's fake kindness." In between her chuckles, Zoey swayed her upper body from side to side, closing her eyes slowly.

In her previous life, she rejected any help, especially financial help from the Kwans. Even from Zion, Zoey didn't accept his help. She used all hurtful remarks from Zachery as a drive to prove that she could live without him and his wealth.

Zoey was successful. She became a very successful businesswoman in eight years. She didn't have to worry about the price tags of the things that she found pretty, she didn't need to worry about her meals and the monthly payroll for her employees.

She did it once, and Zoey was certain she could do it again. However, after careful consideration, Zoey decided to let Zachery in her life. After all, wealth was nothing when everyone she loved had faced demise.

"Since he so badly wants to be in my life, I'll let him in…" Another wave of muffled chuckles slipped past her lips, shaking her head sideways. "Zachery…" She called out, the side of her lips curled into a smirk before her thumb tapped the call button.

As it rang, Zoey didn't bother placing it on her ear as he wouldn't answer immediately anyway. As expected, the line went busy and Zoey ended the call before redialing his number once again. The process of reaching Zachery repeated at least thrice before he finally picked up his phone.

When Zoey's line connected, she slowly picked up the phone and placed it in front of her ear. "Hello, Daddy~" She greeted in a sweet tone.

"Hah!" The second he heard Zoey, a scoff was heard, which didn't affect her that much. "Why are you calling?" Cold and lacking affection as her father, Zachery asked annoyingly.

"Daddy, why do you sound so cold?" For her own entertainment, Zoey feigned as if she was truly hurt, sounding like the whole world had wronged her. "Big brother might misunderstand…" On the verge of bursting out laughing, Zoey continued her act before she covered her lips to restrain herself from laughing out loud.

For a good minute, silence enveloped the line. It was clear as the day that the shock Zachery felt as soon as he heard Zion was with Zoey was tremendous. 'This little fox!' Zachery ground his teeth, his grip on the phone tightened and then shuddered.

The next second, his grip on the phone relaxed as he took deep breaths to calm down. "I'm sorry. Daddy is just a little tired." This time, his tone was calm and fatherlike, causing the corner of her lips to hook into a smirk.

"It's okay, Dad. I understand~" Still bearing her sweet tone, Zoey tucked the side of her hair behind her as she slowly stood up from her seat. "Anyway, the reason I called is… I need," Just as Zoey stopped in her tracks, halting in front of the mirror where she could see her new car arrive, Zoey was about to relay her request, but Zachery interrupted her.

"You need money?" There was a touch of annoyance in his voice, but his next words would justify his tone. "You don't even visit me and your Mom, hmp!" Zachery cunningly harrumphed, a creative way to refuse her request because Zoey would rather die than see him.

"No, Dad." Patient, Zoey sighed heavily, which Zachery heard. "I want to say sorry for last time. I want to make it up with you and Mom. So, I'll be visiting you sometime next week… if that's okay..?" As if Zoey was struggling to give up her pride, she shyly said. Yet, her wicked expression didn't fit her tone.

Once again, Zachery went silent as he processed her words. 'She's visiting? For money? Hah! I knew her business was impossible. She may be on the brink of bankruptcy! Now she wants to lick my shoes to avoid that from happening — how desperate!' Zachery mocked internally, smirking at the 'misfortune' his own daughter was facing.

To be fair, Zachery didn't mind lending Zoey money. After all, he could use this chance to put her on a leash. On the second thought, part of him knew that Zoey was ungrateful. Therefore, Zachery had to think of ways to reject her and let her fall.

"Of course! I'll tell your mother about it. She'll be very happy to hear that." Although Zoey couldn't see him, she could imagine the fakest smile that existed in this world.

"Sweet! See you, then!" Without further ado, Zoey hung up -- just like that. "I'll see you, my dear father." Zoey smiled, staring at her phone. Just then, Ivan entered the office and saw Zoey's cunning smile.

"That smile again…" Ivan murmured, sighing because Zoey seemed to have a button she switches on and off at her will. "You're looking for me?" Yet, he didn't probe why she was smiling like a demoness and asked.

"Ahh…" Upon hearing his last remarks, Zoey nodded her head in understanding before she strode towards him.

Although Ivan was a little suspicious, he remained still in his position. When Zoey stopped, he cautiously looked at her with knitted brows. "What?"

However, the next second, Zoey clipped his ear by her fingers. "Ahh! Sis!" Slowly, she dragged him down by his ear.

"Is it true that you and Cora…?"

"No!" Before Zoey could finish, Ivan interrupted her with a firm 'no'! "Ah! Who would want your friend as a lover? She's crazy!" He added as Zoey didn't stop pulling his ear.

"Crazy, huh?" Instead of getting pleased by his additional answer, Zoey was even more irked as she twisted his ear until it reddened before letting it go.

"Damn it…" Still feeling the sting and hotness in his ear, Ivan glared icily at Zoey. "Sis, what the heck?" She scoffed, annoyed and in pain at the same time.

"Tell me why you were with her two nights ago. Are you stalking her? My big brother told me you said that you both are lovers and Cora even confirmed it." In a matter-of-fact tone, Zoey crossed her arms as she perked her chin up.

As soon as Ivan heard that Cora confirmed their relationship, his entire face distorted. "She what?" He gasped in horror.

"Well, not exactly." She rolled her eyes, losing her hands off as she strode to the small couch nearby. "Now fill me in. This is very crucial to me." When Zoey plopped down to the one-seater couch, her leg over the other, she tilted her head to the side before pointing at the other seat by her lips.

"Jeez… it's not what you think." Reluctant, Ivan dragged his feet towards the seat her lips pointed at. When he sat down, he glanced up at Zoey and sighed.. Not long after, he started detailing what happened two nights ago.
