"Young Master," Just as Matthew and Cecil were discussing other important matters, Paul courtly called out.
Without further ado, Paul strode towards them and stopped near Matthew. He leaned down and Matthew instinctively leaned closer as his assistant whispered something in his ear.
After Matthew nodded his head, he turned to Cecil and Jimmy once again. "I'm sorry, gentlemen. I have another guest that dropped by." He announced.
"It's fine, Young Master Xi. We truly understand." Cecil smiled, nodding his head in understanding.
Slowly, Cecil stood from his seat, tapping Jimmy's shoulder to bring him back to reality. "Young Master Xi, about the car you've been eyeing in the black market, I received an invitation to when it will be auctioned." When he was on his feet, Cecil was reminded of the favor Matthew had asked him to do.
"I know."
"Right," Cecil awkwardly chuckled. Obviously, Matthew would know about it even before him. He just asked him just in case he wouldn't be invited to the auction. "Anyway, thank you for sparing us your time, Young Master Xi." He bowed his head, Jimmy mimicked his boss' action, doing a deep bow to the man twice as young as them.
Humiliation! However, if Cecil did it, Jimmy had no voice to rebel. He could only suck up even though he already began despising this man before him.
Matthew then slowly rose from his seat. His arm extended and his hand landed on Jimmy's shoulder. "I hope Master Feng didn't take everything to the heart." He said, squeezing his shoulder lightly which sent shivers down Jimmy's spine.
"Of — of course, Young Master Xi." Jimmy stuttered, forcing his words out despite that his tongue was rolling back in.
For some reason, Jimmy could feel the threat laced along with that harmless reminder. Cecil only glanced at them, keeping his silence as he understood that Matthew could figure things out with just a glance.
"Don Cecil, I hope you visit often. Thank you for your time, and about the goods..." Turning to face Cecil, Matthew paused. "My men would escort you to bid for the car." In a matter-of-fact tone, Matthew instructed.
"Yes, Young Master Xi." Without further question, Cecil once again bowed his head lightly. With that being said, Cecil bid him farewell and left the garden while Matthew remained there alone.
As they exited the garden, Cecil stopped in his tracks; Jimmy nearly bumped against his boss's back if he noticed it a little later.
In front of them, another young man also stopped in his tracks. "Don Cecil," Kenneth Bai greeted, his face devoid of any welcoming emotion. If anything, a tension in the air suddenly rose.
"Young Master Bai," On the other hand, Cecil's lips curled into a grin. "It was nice seeing you here!" He said, chuckling mockingly as an inexplicable glint flashed across his wrinkled eye.
"It is, indeed." Kenneth finally smiled. Alas, his smile didn't reach his eyes. "You look a little disorganized than ever, Don Cecil. Did you play with Dredd in the garden?" He asked, arching his right brow as he smirked in mockery.
"Hah!" Upon hearing his last remarks, Cecil scoffed. "What a loser." He said bluntly, shaking his head sideways.
"I guess we are, but don't you think you're on the same boat, Don Cecil?" Kenneth chuckled, still amused that Cecil was too old-fashioned; he couldn't think of more insulting remarks that would separate him from the Bai's.
"How low did you fall, Don Cecil to be someone's pet playmate now." Kenneth chuckled, his tongue wiped the side of his teeth. "What a pity." His eyes slowly raised, meeting the furious pair of eyes that reflected Kenneth's figure.
"Same to you, Bai. The dignified and every noble Bai Family... I never knew you've been underdogs of the Xi for generations." Cecil harrumphed, gazing at Kenneth Bai from head to toe. "Let's go, Jim! This son of hypocrites makes me laugh!"
After a beat, Cecil stomped his feet out. Meanwhile, Jimmy darted her eyes from Kenneth Bai's figure to Cecil's departing back. 'What's going on...? What's this place?!' His mind screamed, before rushing to follow his own boss.
One would understand Jimmy's confusion because Cecil was a notorious drug and gang leader. On the other hand, Kenneth Bai was part of a political family — specifically, those figures who had military powers.
In other words, Don Cecil and anyone from the Bai's were not to cross paths in this lifetime. If they do, it'll bring casualties to both sides.
However, they just hurled insults at each other before parting ways! Just what was happening?
"Don Cecil, wait for me!" Jimmy heaved, trying to catch up to Cecil's quick pace.
"Walk faster, fool! I don't want to breathe the same air with any of those hypocrites!" Without looking back, Cecil clenched his jaw along with his fist. "How dare he insult me?! We're both trying to live out of survival!" He grumbled, stomping his feet heavier on each step.
When two reached the driveway, Jimmy gasped seeing a bloodied figure lying near their car. Their driver was checking the man's pulse.
Meanwhile, Cecil knitted his brows. He briefly paused in his tracks before he resumed his steps towards his vehicle.
"Who's that?" Cecil asked as he approached.
"Don," The driver jolted away, revealing the man's mangled face. "I don't know. Some men just dragged him here, saying Young Master Bai didn't want him." He explained, scratching the back of his head as he couldn't recognize the man and was puzzled why they placed him here.
"What?!" Enraged, Cecil bellowed. "Does that bastard Young Bai think I do a clean-up job now?!" He ground his teeth, glaring at the mangled man's body, feeling no sympathy.
"No..." On the other hand, Jimmy breathed out his words. He leaned for a closer look before his eyes widened in disbelief. "This man..." He said, slowly shifting his shocked eyes towards Cecil.
"What?" Annoyed, Cecil queried.
"This man..." He trailed off, gasping as he covered his opened mouth with his palms. "This is the man we sent that night to Miss Zhou." Terrified, Jimmy's entire body trembled in fear once again.
"What nonsense are you talking about?!" Doubtful, Cecil frowned as he knitted his brows together.
"Don, he's the man who fled away! I remember him with the tattoo on his hand!" Jimmy affirmed, his voice panicking at all thoughts rushing inside his mind.
Just then, Don Cecil's phone rang. The ringing of his phone sent him into unimaginable rage. "What?!" When he answered, he didn't even try concealing his annoyance at the unregistered number that called.
"Don Cecil, Young Master Xi said he punished him for doing a bad job. However, the Bai Family said they wanted your head instead." From the other end of the line, Paul Qian relayed the message from both young masters.
"That is why they gifted the man back to you." Paul added, his tone blank as usual. After he relayed his message, Paul just hung up the line.
"That little!" Cecil's frustration reached its peak, buying Matthew's lies as they made sense while getting angrier towards Kenneth Bai.
"I'll get my hands on that little piece of sh*t someday! Hah!" However, no matter how mad Cecil was at Kenneth, he couldn't do anything if he didn't want Matthew's wrath to be drawn towards him.
"Carry him inside!" A sharp exhale escaped Cecil's mouth and nostrils, kicking the unconscious man to the side as he hitched inside.
In the end, the driver and Jimmy carried the man and placed him in the trunk before they left the manor.
