"What are you saying?" She asked, snatching the phone from Ivan. Her eyes glinted as her heart suddenly pounded. Her phone call with him earlier was too brief, hence, Zoey assumed Nikolai was the one who placed Angelo in such a state.
However, what was he saying now? Although Zoey couldn't see Nikolai right at this moment, she could tell that he wasn't lying. Moreover, Nikolai never lied to her — no matter how brutal the truth, he would prefer honesty more than white lies. At the very least, he wanted honesty from her and Nikolai to Zoey as his world was surrounded with deadly schemes and rotting fakery.
'I'm saying, my love radar was switched on the moment I heard about what's going on. I had my men on standby if ever they would kill Angelo. I mean, we might have our suspicion towards him, but until proven, he's still a comrade -- a part of my family." Nikolai explained. He shrugged his shoulder, feeling zero guilt to stay in his principles as the head of the Silva Family.
"..." Zoey was rendered speechless upon hearing what Nikolai said. "Then, why did your men ask me to come?" After a second of silence, Zoey inquired as she couldn't conclude what was going on just by stimulating her mind to work.
"Huh?" Equally confused by her question, Nikolai furrowed his brows. "Are you sure?" She asked, confirming if he was hundred percent sure. After all, Angelo's partner knew that Nikolai's men would save them. Therefore, there was no need to contact Ivan for such an easy task. What more, ask for Zoey's assistance as it was completely unnecessary.
"Ughh… ask that person if he sent me any messages!" Zoey grumbled, her fingers ruffled through her hair. "I think I'm going to go crazy!" She complained, rolling her eyes before ending the call.
"Sis, what was that?" Ivan questioned, his brows almost linked together.
"I don't know." Coldly, Zoey shot him a blank look before she began driving again. For some reason, Zoey was utterly bothered.
The message was clearly stated to bring her here. Ivan only considered her as his sole sister -- no one else. So, if Nikolai said he didn't expect them to come, the only person now that could clarify her about this was the person who sent the message.
Problem was, Zoey knew they had already fled. She could ask Nikolai where the hideout was for his men in this country. However, with a car that has an unpleasant wreck on the back would garner attention if she drove it around recklessly.
She's fortunate she was back in 2012; the year when CCTV's weren't installed in every corner of the city. Therefore, she only needed to take the route Rem -- the one who ran the illegal drag racing events — often took to escape.
Moreover, thanks to her race the other night, Zoey was vividly reminded of the routes she used to take in her previous life. Now, she knew she's safe to drive despite knowing her car was still hot in the authorities' eyes.
"Anyway," After letting out a loud and deep sigh, Zoey turned to the front passenger seat where Ivan was sitting. "Go out." She ordered, not a sign of teasing was to be found in her expression as she looked at him dead in the eye.
"What?" Surprised and baffled at her sudden remarks, Ivan peered at her in disdain.
"I said get out." She repeated, her countenance didn't change. "I have to go somewhere." She added, tilting her head to the side.
"Then let me come. You can't just drop me off out of nowhere!" Displeased, Ivan argued. Just as he did, Zoey unlocked the door, perking her chin towards his door.
"Go." Her tone was blank, darting her gaze from his side of the door to the pair of eyes full of disbelief staring back at her. "I'm going to the Kwan Mansion, you don't want to go there, do you?" Zoey explained, giving him a knowing look.
For a moment, Ivan's disbelief eyes turned in disgust. "Damn it! Can't you just drop me off at your company or to wherever I can grab a taxi, at least?!"
"We were in pursuit just earlier." In a matter-of-fact tone, Zoey rolled her eyes as she reminded him.
"Ughh! I hate you!" Frustrated to the core, Ivan ran his fingers through his hair. Still, with a heavy heart, Ivan unbuckled his seat and cast Zoey one last glare. "Tsk!" He clicked his tongue, not saying anything anymore before he hitched outside.
Ivan slammed the door closed, causing Zoey to whistle softly. "Sorry." She halfheartedly apologized, briefly raising her brows before she began driving again. Meanwhile, Ivan watched the wrecked car slowly speed away until it picked up its pace.
"What a heartless sister." He grumbled, looking around at the empty road, scratching the back of his head. "Now I don't know how to get back home." He sighed, trouble over his current problem.

Meanwhile
"I think I'm going to go crazy!"
"What is she talking about?" Nikolai mumbled, looking at his phone strangely because his princess has indeed become weirder. Still, her last request lingered in his head. Thus, he contacted his men that fled from the scene before Zoey spoiled the plan.
"Where are you?" After the second ring, the phone was picked up. However, what met Nikolai was silence. Niko arched his right brow, pursing his lips as he lightly nodded his head.
In the next second, the line ended. Without any words exchanged, it was cut short. Yet, one could hear Nikolai's teeth grind in silence. He then called another number in his contacts. Once it was picked up, he spoke. "Send someone to find my people." He ordered coldly; his eyes glinted in malice.
"F*ck!" After a second, Nikolai cursed as he threw his phone across the room. Although the person on the other end didn't speak a word, Nikolai was sure that his men were dead. How? They were probably ambushed as they fled the scene.
Although Nikolai knew that his men were capable, he was also aware that they were not the best out there. After all, they were just going to face a small group of Cecil's men. Therefore, Nikolai didn't want to bother his elite members as they were working on a special mission.
However, Nikolai realized how wrong his decision was. Whether it was Cecil's doing, or worse, Inigo's, Nikolai was having a headache. "Ughh…" He massaged his temples. Just then, Zoey's last remarks to him hovered inside his mind.
Nikolai froze, the hand that was massaging his temple trembled slightly. "No…" He muttered airily, shaking his head as if he was reminded about something crucial.
'Zia can't stay alone anymore..' His subconscious mind ordered, putting Nikolai in a tight situation.
