Chapter 400 - Warn Him To Stay Away

"Revenge? Hah, for what?" Upon hearing her ridiculous remarks, Angelo scoffed. The sclera of his eyes had red spots now from all the beatings he endured while they glinted in dismay.

One would wonder about the source of the hate exuding from him. But for sure, they would think it was meant for the people who left him in such a state. Who were they? Cecil's men?

Definitely, his answer would be, no. Zoey and Angelo knew who the hatred was meant for; Nikolai Silvestri. However, although Angelo thought he deserved it, Zoey thought otherwise.

"As you can see, I've been reading people's fortune..."

"Pffft—!" Angelo snickered, shaking his head just by hearing half of her cuckoo talk. "So you're here for revenge... a revenge that has yet to happen? Fck..." He added, chuckling before coughing more, causing his lungs to contract while the rest of his body ached.

"Hehe," While she watched him diss her without any reserve, Zoey chuckled. The next second, she stopped laughing and pounced on him.

Her hand grabbed his neck, fingers on his jaw. Her weight shifted on her hand, tightening her grip as she looked at him straight in the eye. "Who said it didn't happen?" The side of her lips crooked, her eyes glinting with killing intent.

"It didn't happen yet in this lifetime, but that didn't mean it never happened..." Under her breath, Zoey ground her teeth as her words escaped from her lips. "... or will never happen." She added, watching his face turned red as his bruised hand struggled to break free.

"Oy..." Kenneth, who was witnessing everything unfold before his eyes softly called out. Everything escalated quickly, within a flash, Zoey had her hands wrapped around his neck once again.

"Do you think Iñigo will trust you?" The smirk on her lips grew twisted. "The second you failed to report to him, no matter how strong your bond is with him, you've already demoted yourself as a pawn. Do you think I won't gut you out because of Ivan? No, little boy. I will. Once you give me the slightest reason to cut you, I will."

His breathing was limited, yet, he could hear her words clear despite his blurring vision. 'She's mad,' He screamed inside his mind. However, Angelo could feel the same aura he felt around Iñigo. Perhaps, she's more crazy or Iñigo hasn't shown his real crazy side yet.

"The only people who still trust and will accept you are those fools in the Silva Family. Think carefully which side you'll go home tonight..." Zoey paused, leaning closer to his ear. "Choose and don't regret. Because I won't regret nor will I bat an eye putting a hole in your head if you're my enemy." As soon as she dropped her words, Zoey let him go which relieved his airflow.

Zoey watched him gasp for air and coughed sharply. His series of coughing seemed to inflict his internal organs that he started coughing bloods. Yet, the slightest remorse couldn't be seen in her eyes.

"This is the last time you'll be in the middle of the line. Next time, you have to be on either side or just flee — I don't care. Don't show your face here again if you don't want to get tangled." Slowly, Zoey got up from her seat, gazing down at the nearly suffocated Angelo.

"Also, if ever you choose the side of the one I'm after and decide to tattle..." Zoey pursed her lips into a thin line, wetting her throat as her eyes gleamed menacingly. "Tell Iñigo that the empty grave in his name wouldn't be empty for long."

Silence enveloped the room. The dreadful air caused Kenneth to gulp subconsciously, trying to keep his wits together to the conversation he was forced to listen.

Although he had been very knowledgeable about the ugly truth behind the government and how filthy the dark side of this world was, Kenneth felt this was new to him. Or rather, it felt too familiar that he couldn't believe his eyes and ears.

'This woman... she's like him.' Kenneth uttered internally, recalling the sick expression plastered across Matthew's face whenever he played around.

It was the kind of aura that would easily put one in an uncomfortable position. A position that would make the others reconsider if they truly know that person deep down.

Kenneth could feel the hair on his entire body raise. This was not a horror movie nor was he in a spooky situation. He was in a situation that weighed more than one life or two.

He's in a place where the presence of a devil exists. This was Her; the woman standing on the side of the bed while gazing at the poor man who had just escaped death.

"Have a good rest." Zoey bid her farewell, turning her back against him and began taking strides towards Kenneth.

As they exited with Kenneth being snapped back to reality upon her call, Angelo watched them with his hands on his neck. 'This woman... she's not as interesting as I thought she was. Iñigo needs to cut her first before she does.' A glint flickered across his eyes, realizing the danger her existence was to Inigo. No wonder Iñigo marked her as one of the threats in the Silva Family.

Outside the hospital where Angelo was admitted, Kenneth stopped in his tracks. His eyes were fixated at her back.

"Why?" He asked, causing her to halt.

She slowly turned around, "What?" She inquired, tilting her head to the side.

"Aren't you afraid I'd rat you out? Why would you make me hear your shady business?" He stood sternly, his eyes never left her pair of natural sharp eyes that looked tantalizing with her outer mole in the eye that added an unexplainable allure to her already charming aura.

"Why do you trust me that much? We're technically strangers. So, why would you give me a glimpse of your…secrets?" Since she wasn't replying to him, Kenneth bombarded her with his series of questions.

This truth... He didn't know what her purpose was...knowing the truth he didn't want to, in the first place. Why? Because even though he knew about it, his opinion of her didn't waver. He didn't see her as a bad person regardless if she had her hands tainted.

Not that he could say he was in love with her. But, she was a person who had a special place in his heart — a special place that Kenneth was also uncertain of the label.

Zoey studied him for a second. "You..." Once she opened her mouth, she closed it again as she shook her head. "You don't like me romantically. Don't confuse your fondness with love." She sighed, finally addressing the hints she had been noticing but couldn't pinpoint earlier.

"I didn't say that! Don't you dare change the subject!" He sassed, annoyed at her reply that didn't have to do anything with his questions.

"Will you rat me out?" After a sigh, Zoey arched her right brow as she raised her gaze and met his. "If you do, that's your choice. I wouldn't mind if the police barged in my place — I am confident I'll walk free with their lack of evidence." Zoey shrugged, explaining the things she was confident about and her thoughts regarding the matter.

"I just made my choice out of..." She paused, pondering which term to use as she was a little confused how to word it. "... politeness. Anyway, I appreciate your help until now. Don't get in trouble and see you around." With that said note, Zoey waved her hand.

Without further ado, she turned around and continued exiting the establishment. As she did so, her mind wandered as Kenneth's question hovered inside her mind.

'Actually, there's one particular reason why... deep down, I hope you tell him and warn him to stay away..' She whispered internally, her eyes softened in pain but her steps never stopped from going forward.
