Chapter 412 - A Lovely Sight To Behold

"Help… a pervert is abducting me…" Zoey shouted for help, yet in a low tone, rolling her eyes as she figured no one could stop her abductor named Matthew. She hung her head low, dangling down as the sound of the elevator ring reached her ear.

She slightly moved her head to the side, laying her eyes on the few people inside the elevator. Since she was being carried like a sack of rice on his shoulder, she could see the people from upside down.

"Young Master Xi…" One middle-aged man slightly bowed his head upon realizing the person standing outside the elevator. Their gaze, however, couldn't help but travel to his shoulder from where it journeyed down.

To their surprise, everyone jolted upon seeing the blinding redness of her lips and darkness of her thick eyebrows. Zoey rolled her eyes, witnessing their reaction. 'Can't you see my blood is rushing down to my head?!' She expressed her dismay internally; her eyebrows were twitching as the people inside the lift were surely taking their precious time absorbing her horrendous look.

"Until when will you keep me waiting?" Suddenly, Matthew's cold voice enveloped the air, snapping the people inside back to reality as they flinched.

"Ah! Yes, my apologies, Young Master Xi!" The middle-aged man hurriedly bowed, immediately departing the lift as they walked to the side with their heads hanging low. Although this has been a normal occurrence to them, this time, they weren't looking down to avoid his gaze and stare at their shoes. But rather, their gaze was on the clown's face who bore a silly poker face.

"I'll bite you," She ground her teeth and threatened as she met the eyes of the four-eyed middle-aged man in his business suit. Surely, her harmless joke wasn't that heartless, as the poor old man felt his heart race from the psychotic woman's remarks.

"What a weird bunch. Can't they understand aesthetics?" As she felt Matthew began striding towards the elevator, Zoey grumbled. Shortly, the elevator's door closed.

"Hey, if you don't put me down, I might think you're trying to murder me. I can feel my blood infiltrating my brain." As Matthew positioned himself to face the elevator door after pressing the top floor number, Zoey sassed tonelessly.

For a moment, Matthew raised his right eyebrow, sighing faintly. The next second, he slightly squatted down and put her down. When Zoey got back on her feet and stood straight, she wobbled from side to side, feeling a little dizzy as she could feel her blood traveling down in her small body.

Fortunately, Matthew held her by her shoulders until she stabilized her footing. "Ugh… this is your fault." She muttered, holding her temple as she closed her eyes.

On the other hand, Matthew's sharp eyes never left her face. His face neither changed as it remained stoic and stern. "Is it?" His cold voice tickled her ears, sending shivers down her spine and forced her to immediately open her eyes.

The moment she regained her sense of vision, her eyes crossed that made her instinctively draw her head back. Still, her eyes were wide open. Zoey gulped down, seeing how close his ethereal face was from her.

"Uh…" Words clogged her throat while witnessing him arch his right brow.

"Hmm?" Matthew tilted his head to the side, fluttering his naturally long eyelashes ever so slowly. "Is it?" He repeated.

"No — I mean, yes!" After gulping a mouthful of saliva and inhaling all the courage in the world, Zoey perked her chin up — chest out with her hand on her waist.

However, her bravery didn't last long as Matthew took a step forward, forcing her to step back. "Wh — what?!" She panicked, taking more steps back until her back collided against the steel elevator door.

"Darling… I mean, Miss Ling," Matthew only stopped taking advances until he was just one step away from her. His right hand rested against the steel wall behind her, while he shoved the other one inside his pocket. "How is it my fault?" He scoffed faintly, the side of his lips stretched into a devilish smirk.

"Uh, you carried me like I'm a piece of meat without my consent and…" Zoey pursed her lips, gulping another mouthful of saliva to wet her drying throat.

"And?"

"And, Uhm… hehe, Young Master Xi, we can talk about this calmly, alright? Why don't we take a deep breath and talk about this with a calm head?" Helpless, Zoey resorted to trying to calm him down, sensing the thick air enveloping the interiors of the lift. She placed her hand on his chest, lightly attempting to push him away but to no avail.

Matthew's hand that was inside his pocket suddenly grabbed her wrist. "Miss Ling, I can do far worse than not asking for your consent. No one will tell me I'm at fault and ask for an apology." His tone bore arrogance, yet it weighed heavily with facts.

'Wah… so arrogant…!' Zoey nearly dropped her jaw in disbelief, hearing her 'husband's words as it rendered her speechless. She blinked her eyes many times with her mouth wide open.

"Don't test me and don't push your luck too far. You might have a knack of doing worse things, don't think you're the only person who can." Taking the chance of her silence, Matthew's eyes slowly lingered down on her lips.

Although the makeup on her face was too vibrant that covered her beauty, in his eyes, he could clearly see her face. Thus, this makeup gimmick she was trying to pull was apparently useless.

Zoey had to take a minute to absorb his last remarks. When she processed his words, her eyes widened as her eyes sought for eye contact. 'Did he just…' The rest of her thoughts were lost in her head.

She could tell when someone was bluffing. After all, a demon could smell a fellow demon's rotten smell. For a second, Zoey sniffed the stench of death emanating from him before it vanished as soon as it reached her nose. The reason her heart raced was because there were only a few people who instilled fear in her heart.

Actually, she could count them on her fingertips… number one on the list was Inigo. However, deep down, Zoey's list changed. 'Who are you?' She asked internally, staring straight at his pair of menacing russet eyes.

Zoey could see her appalled reflection through his eyes. She was convinced that the complexion beneath this crimson lipstick on her lips went pale. She could not recognize this man, nor did she ever meet him in her previous life.

Matthew was a sweet, mature and pure man. There was no way he was like this before she met him in her previous life. His unwavering tone uttering such vicious words and his demeanor. There was no way this was Matthew, her husband… or so she thought.

"Are you afraid of me now?" As he studied her reaction, Matthew asked in a low tone.

His question didn't seek an honest answer. Zoey sensed that what the answer he sought was the words he wanted to hear. "N — no… just surprised." She shook her head, exhaling heavily through her nose as her throat moved slightly upon her third gulp.

"Good." Matthew nodded his head approvingly. "Don't you dare ignore me again. You don't know what I'm capable of, Zhou Zoey." He then patted her head lightly, glancing up to the number of floors that were lighting up.

"We're almost there." Slowly, Matthew retracted his hand away from steel doors. However, as he took a step back, Matthew pulled her wrist that caught her off guard leading her face to crash on his chest.

At the same time, the lift stopped and slowly opened. The second the people waiting outside saw Matthew's figure with a girl whose back was facing them, their eyes widened in disbelief. Their gaze moved down and saw his other hand holding the girl by her waist.

No one dared to make the slightest noise as they watched him close the door without a word. As the door slowly closed, his pair of russet eyes scanned the people outside causing their shoulders to stiffen. Before the door completely shut close, they saw him gaze down and smile at something.

"What a pushover." He teased, resting his chin over her head and looked smugly at the people outside. 'What a lovely sight to behold.' He thought internally, amused at the reaction he was witnessing outside.

The employees outside: "…"
