Minutes later after they were done eating, Zoey and Matthew left the two to enjoy their meal. As they headed back upstairs, Zoey constantly glanced at Matthew's broad back.
Shortly after, they arrived at the room where she found herself awake before witnessing everything. "Ahem," She cleared her throat, taking a large step forward to his side before pivoting on her heel to face him.
"Thank you for dropping me by." Her hands behind her, expressing her appreciation for walking her to the room. "Can I ask how I am supposed to go to work tomorrow? I won't go by the chopper, right?" She asked, not beating around the bush as this had been her concern from earlier.
After all, Zoey often woke up early even though she was literally living in Z Image Building. Having to travel to go to work, she wanted to have at least a vague idea of how she would get there the next morning. After all, they arrived here via chopper. Still, if they went from here, no one would suspect that it was Matthew's if no one saw him enter, right?
Matthew blinked his eyes slowly, tilting his head to the side. "I don't know." After a second, he answered without much expression on his face.
"Hah," Her eyebrows twitched, peering at him in disdain but Zoey restrained herself from speaking her thoughts aloud.
"I sometimes don't understand you." She murmured, shaking her head as she walked past by him. However, as she held onto the door's handle, Zoey stopped as she turned her head around. "I'm here now. You can go." She said politely, smiling awkwardly because Matthew was just standing there, like he had no plans to go.
He was just watching her, his hands inside his pockets as he tilted his head to the side. "Go where?" He asked, arching his right brow.
She stared back at him, blinking her eyes ever so slowly as she felt that something was amiss. Since she wasn't moving, Matthew didn't wait for her and opened the door to enter inside.
"I'll go in first then." He whispered, glancing to his side as she jolted a little back. Without further ado or teasing her further, Matthew headed inside cooly.
Meanwhile, Zoey's eyes widened as he intruded the room. "Wait! Wait!" She hollered, following behind in with eyes full of disbelief. "Why are you going in?!" She gasped.
She watched him turn around slowly, knitting his brows together in confusion. "It's my room." He answered, tilting his head a little to the side.
"What do you mean it's your room? This is not a guest room?!" Zoey's jaw nearly dropped, restraining herself from concluding further at what seemed to be the set up he had planned.
"No?"
"Then, where's my room?!" Almost in an instant, Zoey threw the question as she felt like she had lost a few of her brain cells. She saw his eyes glint with confusion, as if her question didn't make sense to him.
"You mean…?" Shaken to the core, Zoey's words trailed off as she swallowed down a mouthful of saliva.
"All rooms are being occupied." Matthew nonchalantly shrugged his shoulders, loosening his tie before he removed his blazer suit.
"Then, why invite me in the first place if you don't have available rooms?!" She gasped, in utter disbelief at his lame reason which was obviously a lie.
"I don't mind sharing the bed with you. You can try reaching Paul if you're skeptical,, he'lll give you the same answer." In a matter-of-fact tone, Matthew suggested as he undid his cufflinks. "My phone is in there." He added, pointing his chin towards the direction of the blazer suit which he had tossed on the long couch.
'As if Paul will rat you out.' Rendered speechless, Zoey's brows kept on twitching as she pinched the space between her brows. 'So he wants us to share not just the same house but also the same bed? Is the world ending?!' She was in distress; she couldn't believe how impulsive he was in his decisions.
"Look," When Zoey collected her thoughts, she returned her gaze back at him as she gestured her arms as if she was about to explain everything to him. "A man and a woman shouldn't share the same bed. We're both adults and things can get unpredictable, you know what I mean?" She explained, trying to make sense in her stance because she wasn't that 'easy'!
At least, she didn't want him to think he could cross the line that quickly. Even though Zoey and Matthew had shared loads of steamy nights and days -- in their previous lives, that didn't mean she should just spread her legs for him in this lifetime.
After all, Zoey, although a greedy lass, didn't want to cross the line. Why? That was because she didn't want to bear a child immediately! She couldn't get pregnant with Inigo still walking around somewhere.
In her perspective, if Matthew got her pregnant too soon despite her age, he would easily do that again with Zoey being young and healthy. They were both young and pregnancy was not in her plans. There might be contraceptives, but she couldn't really trust those.
"So?" Yet, despite hearing her argument, Matthew remained cool as he tilted his head to the side. "Even if things can get unpredictable, does it matter? You're an adult, so am I." He shrugged his shoulders indifferently.
Of course, his answer caused her jaw to drop more, rendering her speechless. "Don't worry, though." Matthew chuckled, seeing her silly reaction.
"I don't plan on doing something without your permission." After his brief chuckle, he explained in a low tone. "It's just that my decision is a little out of impulse and your room is yet to be built. For now, I can only offer to share my room as my people are occupying the other rooms." He explained, making the first half of his statements vague.
"Just don't be naughty on the bed to incite those unpredictable 'things' to happen." He winked, the side of his lips curled into a playful smirk.
"Anyway, make yourself comfortable." Without further ado, Matthew trudged away and headed to the door leading to the shower.
Meanwhile, Zoey's knees felt weak. "What the heck…? That's the problem! I am naughty!" She mumbled, dragging her feet towards the couch. "This Matthew is really bad for my heart.." She murmured, massaging her temples in distress.
