Chapter 501 - Indirect Save

"Darlin…" Zoey's words trailed off as soon as she returned back in the master's bedroom where she thought Matthew was waiting for her. To her dismay, Matthew wasn't inside the bedroom despite this late at night.

"Uh? Still not here?" She muttered, looking around but to no avail. Matthew wasn't inside. She checked the closet and even snuck inside the bathroom in case he was showering, but even his shadow wasn't inside.

"It's not that he is still working…" Zoey's words stopped as her face distorted. "Of course, he is still working. After all, he didn't go to work today to accompany me so he probably needs to do some important work." She sighed, frowning at his absence.

Slowly, Zoey collapsed on the carpeted floor, tired at the seemingly easy training. However, she could feel that her body and mind were tired. "Just when I wanted to brag that I fed Dredd." Once again, a heavy sigh slipped past her lips as she sulked.

As she sulked, Zoeys eyes unconsciously looked around the spacious room. "How can he sleep alone inside this big room?" She muttered, feeling the solitude of being alone inside this big room.

Despite its size that was befitting to the royalty, it was rather lonely. Maybe, it was only her point of view. But, the reason Zoey resided inside the Z Image Building despite reaching its success was because living inside a huge house would mean nothing if she was alone.

"Even so…" She paused, sighing for the nth time as she shook her head. "No matter how bored he was, he shouldn't be involved in dangerous stuff like that…" She muttered, her shoulders relaxed as her back curved into a C.

"Either way, I would drag him into this chaotic life." She added, shaking her head as she massaged her temples. "Especially if Inigo already knows the situation between us." Under her breath, other stressful words followed.

"Inigo…" At the reminder of Inigo, Zoey's jaw tightened as her hand on the carpet clenched tightly. "That damn bastard…" Through her gritted teeth, Zoey's eyes glinted.

Zoey only threw the thought at the back of her head to get through the day. She had to forget about Inigo meeting Matthew so they could all move on and she wouldn't act rashly. However, now that she was alone and had the time to gather her thoughts, her blood began to boil at the thought.

"Ivan needs to train them as soon as possible…" She muttered, considering that Inigo was too close that he could have a chat with Matthew. "I'll surely kill him this time…" She added, etching Inigo's face from her previous life in her mind.

That sick, twisted smirk on his lips. Those deep hazel eyes that beamed nothing but killing intent. Zoey recalled his very expression before she killed herself as it would be more painful for him to lose than his own life.

After all, Zoey believed that Inigo perceived her as a mere source of entertainment. The person whom he should exact his revenge. His reason to live with the same suffering and hell just like him. That was all his 'purpose', or so what she should have believed all along.

The thought of that man and everything about him not only could make her blood boil but also her body tremble. Her aura enveloped with nothing but killing intent as her countenance darkened. The side of her lips stretched into a wide twisted grin that one would be terrified at the sight of her.

"Haha… Inigo…"

"You're a terrible brother, aren't you?" Meanwhile on the training ground, Ryan turned to Ivan who was just lying on the ground. "How can you attack your sister like that? If Wen Wen didn't intervene, Master would have surely killed you." He sighed, shaking his head sideways as the memory from earlier events flashed across his mind.

From his recollection, he had seen the dagger fly right at Zoey's face. In his eyes, she was too surprised by the assault that she didn't have the time to act. Well, only professionals like Owen would dodge that.

Not that he was underestimating Zoey. After all, she might be cunning and smart. But, before real danger, she couldn't avoid it herself. She needed someone's protection which was needed in this line of field. She might be a great support but she couldn't be in the real battlefield… or so, what Ryan believed up until now.

"If he didn't intervene…" Ivan kept staring at the dark starless sky, repeating Ryan's words under his breath.

"Yep, if Wen Wen didn't intervene, you'll be in great trouble." Ryan affirmed, nodding his head as he squatted down next to Ivan. "We might not be at your level right now and it's a shame to admit it, but don't underestimate my Master. I can't tell you the details as I'm in no position, but Miss Z is worrying for nothing." He added, sighing as he recalled how this setup all began.

That was because Zoey was worried about Matthew for some unknown reason. And for some unknown reason, Matthew seemed to haven't told her about 'that part'.

"So are you." Slowly, Ivan finally cast him a glance before returning his eyes towards the dark sky.

"Ah?" Puzzled, Ryan tilted his head to the side.

"What he means is that you're worrying for nothing." Just then, Angelo came approaching them from the side. Ryan looked up, still carrying the same puzzlement in his eyes.

"That guy from earlier, he intervened for nothing." Angelo clarified, stopping several steps away from the two as he glanced at Ivan. "Do you think he would've done that if she couldn't dodge it?" In a matter-of-fact tone, Angelo arched his right brow as he cast Ryan a knowing look.

"Huh?" Still baffled at the simple words that were hard to digest, Ryan darted his gaze from Ivan's side profile to Angelo. "Are you saying Miss Z can dodge it?" He asked.

"Maybe." Finally, Ivan answered in a low tone. "But certainly, that guy from earlier didn't save my sister…" Ivan paused, recalling the brief look he had seen that flashed across Zoey's eyes earlier. "... but certainly, he might have just saved me.." He whispered, swallowing a mouthful of saliva as his confidence from earlier just vanished all at once.
