Chapter 511 - Let’s Get Married.

"Darling," Zoey called out softly. "About what you said six nights ago…"

Her words trailed off in the air as Matthew froze on the spot. Slowly, he turned his head to her direction and laid his eyes on her figure that was still.

He studied her figure for a while as he waited for her next words. Matthew swallowed a mouthful of saliva as he recalled the night he was bombarded with those memories.

"You said…" Slowly, Zoey raised her head and met his eyes.

"I said?" Matthew repeated, tilting his head to the side.

Zoey gravitated the words that had been lingering in her mind for a long time. After a brief contemplation, she shook her head lightly.

"Nothing," She said, "It's nothing. Eat now."

In the end, Zoey decided to ask him some other time. It seemed Matthew was half-conscious when he spouted those words. Thus, she didn't want to probe now and overdo it. What was important was Matthew regained his consciousness and he was back to her.

With that in mind, Zoey started eating as she averted her eyes away from him. Unbeknownst to her, Matthew let out a faint sigh of relief.

'It's not that I don't remember,' He whispered internally as he stared at her. 'I remember everything I wished I didn't.'

He added as he began eating once again. There were things Matthew wished he didn't remember. If he was given a chance, Matthew would choose to not remember anything at all and remain the same young foolish Matthew.

However, that was not possible anymore. The truth hidden behind his death came to light. Matthew raised his eyes back to her.

At the same time, Zoey was already staring at him. She was smiling while her mouth was full. Matthew smiled back before he watched her stuff more food inside her mouth.

'The truth is… I didn't want to face you anymore. I don't have the face to show to you.' Matthew mumbled internally as a bitter glint flashed across his pair of russet eyes.

'Perhaps, no, that's certainly not the only reason I subconsciously didn't want to wake up. It was the truth you didn't know about me; the truth I kept hidden because I didn't want to lose you.'

Matthew unconsciously snickered which caught Zoey's attention.

"Hmm?" Zoey hummed a questioning tune as she furrowed her brows together. "Darling?"

Zoey called out softly while she chewed the rest of the food. She had noticed that Matthew had been acting strange, but she assumed it was because he just woke up from his deep slumber. Still, she could not help but wonder; especially after sensing the strong melancholy shrouding his figure.

"Hmm?"

Upon realizing that he snickered, Matthew feigned innocent once again. "I just thought you look cute with your stuffed cheeks."

He found an excuse to cover up his thoughts. Matthew raised his brows briefly and then winked at her with a smirk on the side of his lips.

"Oh…" Zoey nodded in understanding before her face distorted. "Ah?"

"It's nothing. Eat more. I have something to discuss with you." Matthew shook his head as he gestured to her to continue.

With that being said, Zoey just nodded her head once again but studied his side profile for a while. Matthew seemed normal as he had an energy to flirt. Thus, Zoey resumed on eating to replenish her energy.

Soon, the two of them finished their meal. Since she brought a lot, even with the two of them, they couldn't consume everything in one go.

"So, what do you want to say?" Zoey inquired as she wiped the side of her lips.

Slowly, she raised her head, blinking as she stared at his figure. Currently, Matthew was having tea, which she brought along the food. However, Zoey couldn't drink it, afraid she would throw up as she was stuffed.

"About you and me," Matthew replied calmly. "Let's get married."

Upon hearing his last remarks, Zoey nearly choked as she let out a series of coughs. She patted her chest, casting him her wide eyes full of disbelief as if her mind could not process his words.

"What?!" Zoey gasped. "What did you say?!"

"Oh, I think that's so abrupt." Matthew furrowed his brows upon seeing her reaction.

Matthew rubbed his chin as he pondered over his proposal. "Will you marry me?"

Zoey's jaw completely dropped upon hearing those words again. Was that what he wanted to discuss in utter seriousness earlier? Zoey was rendered speechless, as that was the last thing she had imagined that he wanted to tell her.

"Since we're living under the same roof, I think we should get married. It's not proper to share the same bed.' Matthew explained in a matter-of-fact tone. "Also, you said you'll become my wife. It's better if you say you're my wife, after all."

Matthew added as he nodded his head in satisfaction. Well, they were already married in their previous life. Thus, marrying her sooner wouldn't be a problem.

Also, since Matthew hadn't done the things he had done, he was certain he could avoid them. As for the reason he didn't want to tell her he had recovered his memories, Matthew had a strong reason for hiding that he knew everything would benefit him.

After all, he had already embraced being shameless. Hence, he would live up to it even if it means lying right in front of her face.

"Oy, don't make it sound like we're doing something more than just sleeping," Zoey rebutted as her face distorted. "No, no, I've been behaving like a puppy."

However, just as she said her last sentence, Matthew suddenly grabbed her wrist and pinned her down.

"Until when will I behave, though?" Matthew whispered in her ear. Zoey immediately felt her spine shudder at the heat of his breath kissing her ear.

"I'm a man, my young miss."

Slowly, Matthew drew away with a playful smirk plastered across his lips. "I'm kidding. All I want to say is I missed you too." He said as he let her go and laid beside her.

Zoey's heart was still racing as her hand clasped her chest. She could feel the heat travel to her face.

"And…."

While he was staring at the ceiling, Matthew wanted to add something but to his surprise, Zoey suddenly moved. She turned to him, propping her elbow as she gazed down at him.

"Sure," She answered as she leaned down and placed a soft peck on his lips.. "Let's get married."
