Chapter 564 - Who To Bribe?

Zoey and Matthew sat beside each other on the couch they slept while Vivian was on the head seat.

Vivian darted her eyes full of disbelief from her son to Zoey. She scoffed as she scrutinized Zoey from her head to toe.

Zoey's hair was a little disheveled, her thighs exposed, with her hand on her lap. Her son, on the other hand, was languidly staring at her. He was still topless, hooking his arms on the back as he cocked his head to the side.

Seeing this, Vivian's breaths grew heavier as she lost words to speak. She didn't need to ask! She already knew, even if she tried to assume something else, she couldn't! They surely did the deed!

"What is going on here?" Yet, despite knowing what happened, these words automatically escaped her mouth.

"Huh?" Upon hearing his mother's question, Matthew furrowed his brows. He expected another question as the answer to this one was already obvious.

However, just as Matthew let out a mocking 'huh?", Zoey elbowed him and glared daggers at him.

He raised his hands as he conceded. Right… Zoey was Vivian's ally and she would bully him if he said something wrong to his mother!

"Mom, we're trying to give you a grandchild." Matthew answered and Zoey coughed as to how blunt his answer was.

Couldn't he make it sound more… elegant? Although it was way better than saying they had 'sxx', Zoey still could not help but cough.

"A grand… what?" In disbelief, Vivian placed her palm on her chest as she couldn't believe what she just heard.

Her son was still young. Although he hadn't shown interest in the opposite gender, Vivian believed they had time. There was still hope for her son and surely, there would be an elite that would pique her son's interest; he just needed to venture more.

"Mom, you're a few hours late. The deed has been done." Matthew shrugged upon seeing the dismay that resurfaced on his mother's front.

Well, Vivian was still not desperate for him to marry. He's still young and she was still picky on choosing a candidate for him. Thus, Matthew was not surprised that she bore such expression on her face.

"Hah!" Vivian scoffed, shaking her head as she set her eyes onto Zoey.

Zoey pursed her lips in a thin line, staring back at Vivian. For some reason, seeing Vivian once again made her heart happy. It had been a while but she truly missed her.

Even though Vivian was staring at her in disdain, Zoey couldn't care less. It was a strange situation for her to meet Vivian in this lifetime again. If she had an option, she wanted to meet Vivian in a more suitable situation.

But they were already in this situation. Well, at the very least, she met Vivian sooner this time and Zoey was happy and relieved.

"How much?" Vivian asked, raising her chin up as she crossed her arms.

Matthew glanced at Zoey and smiled. She seemed happy and Matthew was less insulted at his mother's remarks.

"How much so you can stay away from my son?" Vivian clarified without looking away from Zoey.

"You're paying me?" Zoey raised her brows as she asked the obvious.

"Stay away from my son and don't tell a single soul of what happened here." Vivian didn't beat around the bush.

The two women stared at each other for a while in silence. Zoey's face remained composed as she was not a bit offended. If anything, she found Vivian cute.

Zoey felt like she was in a drama where a rich mother was slapping the heroine money to stay away from her son. She remembered telling Matthew of this scene, but Vivian turned out to be more welcoming than she had expected.

"Madam Xi, I don't think I am the person who you should bribe." Zoey smiled, causing Matthew to snicker while Vivian frowned.

"Stop laughing, Xi Matthew. Get out of here." Vivian glared at Matthew who was suppressing his laughter beside Zoey.

Vivian hadn't seen his son smile for as long as she could remember; what more, laugh genuinely. Yet, that wasn't important as she arched her brow at Zoey.

"What do you mean?"

"I already did what you suggested. I even pushed Young Master Xi away and said cruel things to him. But, he keeps on showing in front of my door, breaking the walls I've put up with his love confessions. When it didn't work, he used other means by pressuring my company."

Zoey explained without pausing. She didn't look away as she recalled how persistent Matthew was until she broke and gave in. God knew how firm Zoey's determination was but Matthew was firmer with his resolve.

He wanted her in her life and he wanted himself involved with her. Even if she agreed to Vivian, it was not Zoey who should be stopped but her son.

"Are you saying my son threatened you to sleep with him?!" Vivian's voice once again thundered, shifting her piercing glare to her son.

"Huh?" Surprised, Matthew glanced at Zoey who smirked at him. "Devil."

Matthew muttered in disbelief but the side of his lips curled into a smile. He raised his hands, as he returned he feigned innocent.

"Mom, don't believe this she-devil. It's true I seduced her but you see, it's true love!"

"True -- what?! Xi Matthew, I didn't raise you to become a scum! How can you use such means and force yourself on a lady?!" Vivian bellowed, in utter disbelief hearing her son's lame excuse.

Vivian was torn between shooing away Zoey or scolding her son. She recalled the time that Zoey called her and was screaming her heart out for whatever Matthew did.

And then, came into the office looking funny. Vivian could only think that Zoey was trying to humiliate Matthew for dating a weird woman.

Now that she heard Zoey's explanation, it all made sense why Zoey came up looking like a clown. Her son was putting pressure on Zoey and it's her way to get revenge. Although how the day ended turned south, Vivian didn't focus on the outcome but how it all started.

"Yes, such a scum." Zoey muttered, fanning the flames as she secretly snickered.

"Young lady, shut up." Vivian lashed at her which Zoey abided as she zipped her mouth.

"Yes, ma'am."

Matthew glanced at Zoey as a subtle smile formed on his lips. This scene was familiar. Vivian ends up scolding him while Zoey fanning the flames. It was unfair, but it brought back good memories to the two of them.

"Mom, just give her money. I'm sure she will stay far away."

"But will you?!" Vivian gasped as she discerned it was not Zoey who was the problem but her son!
