Chapter 566 - Just Like Your Father

"Hey, is it true that the big boss brought a woman and spent the night in his office?"

"Were they really… naked?"

"Who was the woman?"

"Gosh… why didn't they go to a hotel?"

"Rich people are sometimes weird. Maybe, for experience? Thrill?"

Meanwhile, inside the XI Corporation, the news about the big boss being caught by the chairwoman with a woman in his office spread like wildfire. Murmuring from every department was all about Matthew and the mystery woman he brought in the office.

"Was it that weird girl? The one with the thick makeup and who calls herself a goddess?"

"Haha! You think the big boss will even have a hard on with her? Have you seen every elite that Master dated? I'm sure she's just some random lady Matthew played with."

"Dated? I heard CEO Xi humiliated everyone who showed even the slightest interest in the Xi Family's wealth."

While everyone was busy gossiping, wondering what the truth was with every rumor they heard in the past, the main subject of the gossip couldn't care less at all.

"No, Xi Matthew! You don't make sense!" Vivian argued back, slamming the bottom of her fist on the arm rest as she ground her teeth.

Matthew had been very 'obedient' since he was a child. Well, obedient in a way that he never disappointed Vivian in terms of business and school. Her son was a prodigy, a genius who excelled among every student in the school.

His thoughts were always advanced. The only problem Vivian had with her son was his strong opposition about him marrying.

But now, he was forcing her to give him a blessing for him to marry?! She should be happy, but for some reason, she was more stressed than happy!

Since when did her son become this annoying person that was arguing with her like a kid?

"Huh? I told you, she'll be my one and only wife. Even if you oppose and take all my inheritance, it is what it is." Matthew shrugged indifferently as he rested his leg over the other.

"Uhh… I can feel my blood pressure rising." Vivian grumbled as she pinched the space between her brows. "You're willing to let go of your position just to be with that girl?"

"Zoey. She has a name." Matthew corrected and didn't bother to answer his mother as he just told her. He didn't want to repeat himself.

Even if he loses everything: wealth, status, and everything. Matthew couldn't say it was his everything. Zoey was his everything. Losing her means losing everything and being with her was having everything he could ask for.

"You just spent the night with her and you're willing to…"

"Mother," Before Vivian could finish her sentence, Matthew interrupted her midway. His tone grew colder and stern so was his expression and demeanor.

"I love her. I love Zoey and I'd fight for her even if the entire world is against me."

Vivian was rendered speechless and could only stare at her son's eyes that bore unwavering resolve. She knew that instant that whatever she would say, nothing could change her son's mind.

He was determined to marry Zoey. Even if the means of marrying her was losing what he had worked for his entire life, he would without a second hesitation.

"You're just like your father." Vivian whispered as she shook her head.

Upon hearing his mother's remarks, Matthew finally went silent. He rarely heard her mother mention his father who was dead for years. He heard that he died due to cancer, but he couldn't understand the sadness and anger in his mother's eyes whenever someone mentioned his father.

He knew deep down his father's death wasn't what everyone told her. But he couldn't care less. Still, there were these strange feelings circling around his heart when his mother was the one who spoke about his father.

"So, you really want to marry her?" Vivian cleared her throat, shrugging the brief thoughts that crossed her mind.

"Yes."

"Then, you're asking the wrong person for blessing. You know our Xi Family should take responsibility for what happened."

"Huh?" Matthew furrowed his brows as he cocked his head to the side.

"I appreciate the thoughts, though. What I'm saying that doesn't make sense is, you can't just ask me. You should consider courting the Kwan if you really want to marry her with the elder's blessings." Vivian explained under her breath as she surrendered.

It was pointless arguing with her son further. He had decided and she couldn't do anything about it.

Vivian was a mother before everything else. Thus, if that was what he wanted, she could only place safety precautions for her son.

In that case, even if Zoey turned out deceiving her son, she could lessen the damages… although she was unsure if that could even reduce the damages in his heart if that happened.

"Uh, the Kwan's, huh?" Upon hearing his mother's advice, Matthew rubbed his chin lightly.

'I actually want Zachery dead.' Matthew whispered inwardly.

In their previous life, aside from Zion, none of the Kwans were invited to their simple wedding. Still, Matthew had met Zachery -- Zoey's biological father -- and he regretted not putting him in his place.

"Even if that wo -- Zoey, was not officially adopted by them, they are still her foster parents. It is only decent to ask her hand from them." Vivian explained as she rolled her eyes.

By the looks of it, Matthew never considered asking the Kwans for Zoey's hand. Little did she know, Matthew's reason was entirely different than her assumption that her son was just inexperienced with these things.

"I see…" Matthew nodded in understanding, narrowing his eyes as he thought of a plan how he should handle Zachery in this lifetime.

Although there were changes in Zion and Cora's life with Ivan in the picture, Matthew could not lower his guard knowing how scheming Zachery was. Also, Zachery had put Zoey in danger over and over again.

If Zachery didn't try to get rid of Zoey when she was a child and just accepted her as his foster daughter, she wouldn't have to be tangled with the Silva Family. In other words, Zachery was the person to blame one way or another.

Be it in the past, the present, or the future, Zachery would always play a part in Zoey's misery. Matthew could never let anyone loose for a long time; especially if Zoey asked for his help.

"I won't help you, though." Vivian arched her right brow as she raised her chin a little up.

"No need. I will meet Kwan Zachery and talk to him, sincerely.." For some reason, Vivian felt a chill run down her spine as Matthew stressed his last word which didn't give off the same meaning as the words.
