Hours later…
"What the f…" Ivan trailed off as he gazed at Zion from head to toe.
Not just him, but also, Inigo and Angelo's eyes went wide, slacked jaw upon seeing Zion once again.
"Don't be surprised. Zoey is my sister. So, save your comments because no matter what you say, I still have skills that you don't." Zion raised his chin bravely, not backing down on these men who had belittled him just a day ago.
Although Zion wouldn't blame them, as what they had said was true, he didn't want to show them that he was still a coward a day ago. For once, for his sister's sake, he wanted to be a man and do something for her.
"Can you shoot a gun?" Angelo asked in dismay, glancing at Matthew, whose face lacked emotion.
"My scalpel is sharp." Zion shrugged. "Want to test it?"
"Hahaha!" Inigo laughed, clapping his hand before bumping Angelo's shoulder with his knuckles. "Good thing, he is not the one who tended to your wounds when we tried to bury you alive."
Inigo humored receiving glares from Angelo. The latter clicked his tongue in annoyance.
"Don't f*cking touch me." Angelo said as he flung his hand and Inigo hopped away.
"Boss Matt, why?" Ivan inquired in disbelief. "We don't have time to babysit this guy!"
"He won't be at the front line. He'll be on standby as a medic. In case something happens, especially to Zoey, we have a doctor who was labeled a prodigy in medicine. He will keep her alive no matter what or else…" Matthew paused as he glanced at Zion who was standing on his side.
"He will kill me." Zion ended Matthew's sentence in confidence. He was prepared just like they were.
Although Zion couldn't hide the fact that this ordeal terrified him, he wanted to man up. He needed to do something for Zoey. Sitting and waiting for good news would kill him more.
"Anyway, don't bother with him. Be kind to him. You might be the one needing him if something happened." Matthew shrugged as he moved his gaze away from the three.
"Definitely not me." Inigo raised his brows nonchalantly but everyone ignored him.
"Master, the choppers are ready." Just then, Paul came in and informed them.
Matthew turned to his direction and nodded. He then turned his attention to the three.
"Zion will come with me. I'll see you in two days."
The three nodded as they looked at Matthew sternly.
"It's been good working with you, Boss Matt." Angelo expressed and ignored Inigo's playful chuckles. "I really wished that I had met you before meeting this idiot former boss of mine and that maniac delusional Nikolai."
For Angelo, this might be the only chance to express his respect towards Matthew. Just in the brief time working with Matthew, Angelo's respect towards the guy was higher than Inigo and Nikolai.
He had never met such a remarkable leader. It's a shame that Matthew was not the type to keep this life in the underworld.
"You don't have to say that." Matthew smirked and shook his head. Everything until now was all for his selfish reason to save Zoey.
Therefore, the benefits they would get was just a trade in exchange for their help. Still, despite knowing that, Ivan also wanted to say his piece.
"I don't like you from the start. But you're better than that Tang bastard. So, there's that."
"Really? You really have to mention that trash?" Angelo's face scrunched up as he didn't expect to hear that guy's name in this situation.
"Well, I'm stating facts!" Ivan shrugged innocently.
"A crap is crap. You don't compare crap to anything else! That's more like an insult." Angelo exclaimed, stating his utter dismay at Zoey's ex who was a mere crap in his eyes.
"Makes sense." Ivan nodded, agreeing with Angelo's last remarks.
After that, the two turned to Inigo. The latter raised his brows as his face distorted.
"What? I'm not as corny as you guys." Inigo sassed in disgust.
"I appreciate that. But this is not the time for this. We have to succeed first." Matthew shook his head, but a subtle smile was plastered across his lips.
"Well," Just as Matthew said so, Inigo suddenly cleared his throat. "Since success or failure doesn't concern my goal, want to hear my eulogy?"
Ivan, Angelo, Matthew, and even Zion furrowed their brows. Inigo raised his hands and shrugged.
Seeing that they were just looking at him, blinking their eyes, Inigo fixed his stance and cleared his throat.
"When I'm gone --"
"Pfft--!" Angelo held back from laughing. "I'm sorry, man. Go on." He waved.
Inigo clicked his tongue but continued anyway. "Ahem. I'm saying. When I'm gone, just carry on. Don't mourn, rejoice everytime you hear the sound of my voice. Know that I'm looking down on you smiling, and I didn't feel a thing, so don't feel pain, and smile back."
Inigo smiled broadly. Matthew and Zion furrowed their brows as for the two, his words were rather… moving? Which Matthew and Zion didn't expect.
Meanwhile, unlike what the two thought, Ivan and Angelo's expressions were the complete opposite. They looked at Inigo with eyes full of disdain.
"What the f*ck, man? Your eulogy for yourself came from a song?" Ivan gasped in disdain, couldn't believe that Inigo was still playing in this situation.
"Can't you be a little more creative?" Angelo uttered, sharing the same expression like Ivan.
"It's from a song?" Zion furrowed his brows, glancing at the two and then back to Inigo. He felt duped as he thought Inigo was more sentimental than he appeared to be.
"No one will mourn." Matthew shook his head, but to him, those words were also from Inigo.
As they talked, Paul who was watching them from the sideline couldn't help but smile subtly. These groups of men might be different in everything, but they actually built a stronger bond than they realized.
'This might be a hypocritical request, but I hope the heavens grant these men what they desire to attain.. They aren't bad people… the situation forced them to be one to survive.'
