Chapter 689 - Auction VII

"What? I may not be the golden buddha you're all expecting, but I'm a walking gold, still!" Inigo exclaimed, spreading his hands up, shrugging nonchalantly.

"Maybe, a demigod since it's my second life!"

"Inigo… what is he --" Zoey turned to Nikolai, wanting to ask him if he was colluding with Inigo all along.

However, since Nikolai took off his mask, Zoey saw his surprised expression as well. He didn't know of this.

"Why, of all time, is he here?" Nikolai's eyes widened, glinting with killing intent as if all his attention from Zoey all shifted to Inigo, his brother.

"Sir, you can't just come here." The auctioneer called out while putting the mic away.

"Ah?" Inigo cocked his head to the side, casting him a baffled look.

"Security!" The auctioneer yelled, turning his head to the people in-charge of security.

However, as soon as the auctioneer turned to their direction, he froze. The security was standing still, not moving a muscle with guns pressed on their temples.

"Oh, come on! What's so wrong if people bid for me? I'm like a priceless gem which no one could afford on normal days!" Inigo complained as he was willing to auction himself.

"But now, you'd get this chance to have me! You, start the bidding for me!"

Inigo added, snapping his fingers at the auctioneer.

"Huh?"

"I said, I'll be tonight's main event." Inigo's nose scrunched up in disdain.

"Ahh…" Still not back in his senses, the auctioneer looked around in panic.

"Aish…" Annoyed, Inigo grabbed the pistol clamped between his pant's waistband on the back.

Without a second hesitation, Inigo aimed it at the auctioneer.

"Get your sh*t together. Start the bidding."

"Yes, sir!" Out of fright, the auctioneer immediately abided.

Pleased, Inigo nodded approvingly before stating, "Starting bid is 500 million dollars. It can only be raised by 100 million."

The auctioneer nearly choked upon hearing the numbers Inigo had set. However, with a gun pointed at him, and the men holding the security hostage, the auctioneer was quick to grasp that they were surrounded.

He ground his teeth as he glared in Nikolai's direction. 'That damn mafioso! Are they doing part of their deal? How come some prick managed to pass through the security?!'

"Come on. This precious me is starting to get bored. You don't like me killing time; I'm sort of a literal man who takes things too literally." Inigo waved the pistol as he shook his head sideways.

Grasping the threat behind Inigo's last remarks, the auctioneer snapped. He cleared his throat, forcing a smile, as he spoke through the microphone with his usual voice pattern.

And that bidding started. However, just as the bidding opened up, no one raised their paddle numbers to make a bid. Nervous, the auctioneer called once again and urged them to bid.

But no one did.

Who would? The price was ridiculous and what would they get from Inigo? This was broadlight robbery and no one would want to get robbed willingly.

"Tsk." Inigo clicked his tongue, obviously not pleased at the silent hostility and reluctance to spend a dime on him.

After rolling his eyes, raised his hand and his pistol suddenly went off.

"Kyahh!!!" As soon as Inigo opened fire, screams and panic ensued. However, before the guest could run wild, the assaults that were pointing at them put a halt on their actions.

"Come on, people. You all enjoyed all the biddings earlier! Organs that were still intact inside a living person, come on! We all know we're all spawns of evil. Why don't you want Satan in your life?" Inigo languidly scratched his temple with the pistol's muzzle.

"Don't make me lose face. Bid on me!"

The guest walked back to their seat, trembling. Afraid another shot would be fired, the auctioneer forced himself to speak through the microphone.

"Let's start the bidding again, ladies and gentlemen! The bid starts with five hundred million!" Alas, the auctioneer failed to conceal his fear at the moment. His voice was shaky and awkward, shooting the bidders a pleading gaze to follow the man's words.

'Just bid on him!' Was what the auctioneer wanted to say. Or else, they could only expect the worst.

"Si -- six hundred million!" Out of fear, someone raised their paddle and stammered in fear.

Inigo smiled and nodded in satisfaction. "I'll let the highest bidder leave here unscathed. So, bid well!"

After hearing Inigo's guarantees, they maxed their budget for tonight's auction. Soon, the bidding escalated to normal, and each time, the price skyrocketed to the heavens.

As everyone reluctantly fiercely fought the bidding, Zoey's entire body trembled. Inigo was in this place; she didn't know whether she should feel glad or otherwise.

Inigo's moves, antics, his words, and his psychotic demeanor… there's no doubt it was Inigo. But why was he here?

Zoey's heart pounded against her chest. Inigo and Nikolai in the same place? This wouldn't surely end well.

That very second, Zoey's eyes lit up. Either way, this would be a good chance for her.

"Zia," Suddenly, Nikolai spoke. Zoey immediately turned her head to him.

Nikolai still had his eyes on the podium where Inigo stood. She saw his jaw tighten, his eyes glinting with killing intent.

"How is he here?" Nikolai inquired.

Zoey scoffed and ridiculed. "To kill me? You? Maybe, both? Does it matter, though?"

Surprisingly enough, Nikolai didn't snap at her. His eyes remained fixated on Inigo as the latter nodded approvingly at the crowd.

"Get out of here." Nikolai muttered as the corner of his lips slowly curled up. It was as if he found a better prey to play with.

"My men will escort you out. Don't even think of escaping because I won't be merciful. If I said that I'll kill everyone, I mean it."

Zoey only scoffed faintly at his claims. But before she could stand, Inigo's voice was suddenly heard from the microphone.

"How about you, Niko? Aren't you going to bid?"

Zoey turned to Inigo as he was looking straight in their direction. Inigo then waved and grinned.

"Hello there, Zia. I won't ask you to bid because you're still broke in this lifetime, right? Hah!"

Zoey froze as her breath hitched. "Prick." She muttered as she still had some scores to settle with him. But now was not the time.

"One billion." Suddenly, Nikolai raised his finger and placed his bid. Inigo clapped his hand and retracted his gaze away as he shifted it to the other bidders.

"Wow!" Inigo grinned proudly.

"Go now, Zia.." While Inigo's attention shifted to the crowd, Nikolai ordered and Zoey didn't waste a second and discreetly left.
