Chapter 196 - You Don't Love Me Anymore

Three months later...

Devon was sipping through the straw, enjoying the orange juice while watching the news. After her visit with the Lin Family, she told Lewis she would try the therapy once again and take it seriously. That was to seek help and not see it as a threat or someone invading her privacy.

So she did.

Along with her therapy to walk again, Devon had also been making time for her mental health. So far, she was doing better day by day. The process was tough for her, but she was taking baby steps; a gradual process. Although there were still days she would feel bad, the thought of dying rarely crossed her anymore.

Lewis had always been there for her and his brothers. They made it a bit bearable.

"Wow, Sis... you look beautiful on TV!" Dion made her snap her eyes as soon as he spoke. She turned her head to the couch near her wheelchair, where he was watching comfortably.

"I look fat."

Dion gasped, staring at her in dismay. "You gain a few pounds on the television, what are you saying?!"

"Still fat." She peeled her eyes away from him, resuming on sipping the orange juice.

Right now, on the television, they were showing snippets of the press conference she held yesterday. After her visit with the Lin Family, Devon's guess was correct. Her family didn't take her warning to their heart and chose the rough path, severing whatever link they had with her.

Devon promised to let them all slide and promised they would live a comfortable life if they peacefully stepped down from their position and return the things they stole. But the Lin Family was proud and would fight until the end. So, the next day, Devon sent all the pieces of evidence to the prosecutor's office.

Lewis recommended some trusted body of authority who wouldn't get bribed, no matter how big the amount was. Since she trusted Lewis, she agreed and let those people handle it. In this case, Devon also had to filter out the exaggeration and trust the law. She only thought of playing underhanded cards as a backup, just in case her father bribed the people.

Now, after three months, the news finally blew up as the investigation in the LN Group started. Devon, the whistleblower, only held a press to answer everyone all at once. She didn't want to get interviewed in many outlets, so she thought of doing it once and for all.

"This is bigger than I thought," Dion commented as he read the allegations towards the President and the chairman of the company. "Your brother is gay? Wow... he should've come out. There's nothing to be embarrassed about it instead of keeping an unhappy wife."

"His father always pressures him, that's why." Devon cast him a side-eye. "I'm not siding with him. He was the favorite child and everything about him should be perfect. Because of his perfect image, he can't easily come out because he is his father's only hope. Chairman Lin put all his bets on that precious son of his, after all."

"Damn..." Dion clicked his tongue continuously, shaking his head as he could imagine how depressing it was. "Now I appreciate Ge even more for letting us get away from the pressure and pursue the career we want."

Dion raised his brows, setting his eyes to her, only to see her on the phone. Devon chuckled while typing on her phone. Noticing his stare, Devon spoke without casting him a look.

"Bella showed me the matching bikinis she bought for the both of us," she explained, staring at the silly pink bikinis that had small dark spots like watermelon. "Gosh... should I wear one of these for a change?"

Intrigued, Dion crawled towards the end of the couch to see what it looks like. But before he could look, Devon hid the screen closer to her chest as she drew back.

"Why are you peeking?" she asked, making him frown. "Do you want to wear one?"

"What?! I'm curious what it looks like and tattle her to Ge!"

The corner of her lips stretched wider as she wiggled her brows. "No need. I already sent it to Lu, asking for his advice if he wants to see me in it once my legs all healed."

"Wha — what?" His eyes nearly popped out of their socket as his complexion turned pale. "Sis... why would you... what time is it?"

"Ten in the morning." Her smug grin remained, humming a merry tune as Lewis often checked her messages no matter what time or where he was. "I wonder what's his reaction. Should I video call him?"

"Sis!" this time, Dion couldn't help but yell at his sister-in-law's mischievousness. Ever since she started doing therapy for real, she was had begun to be back to her 'normal self'. The version he knew before the accident. Or rather, a more mischievous, a sharper tongue, and just a level above the previous version of her.

Just why would she ask Lewis that sort of question purposely? Knowing the man was surely in the middle of an important meeting?!

"Just how many lives do you have to have such courage, sis?!" he scrunched his nose up, gazing at the blissful Devon.

She just shrugged, leaning back. "Many, I guess?" and she continued to enjoy her orange juice.

"There you are!"

Suddenly, Kai appeared, hopping from the back of the couch, and landed beside Dion. His brows furrowed as soon as he caught Dion's dismal expression. Then Devon raised her brows at him.

"Sis, what kind of evilness did you already do today?" asked Kai, a bit nervous as he had grown scared of their sister-in-law at this point.

"Don't worry, fifth brother. This is not about you," she reassured with a smile, gazing up at the person entering the living area and joining them. "Ansel, how was your exam?"

Ansel raised his head with his hands inside the pocket of his hoodie. He looked hesitant, making her cocked her head to the side.

"Bad?" she asked, but he shook his head. "Then, why do you look…?"

Devon trailed off when Ansel pulled his hand out of the pocket of his hoodie. In between his index and thumb was his report card.

"See it for yourself," Ansel muttered while looking away.

Dion and Kai furrowed their brows as they also gazed at the report card in Ansel's hand. He never showed anyone his report card, nor did he ever ask for praise for anyone in them. Well, Marshall always know the result whenever he wanted to know, while Lewis just asked him about it.

Ansel might be stubborn, but he didn't like bothering Lewis with such things. And yet, he was showing someone his report card?

The side of her lips stretched as she leaned forward to check. As she drew back, Devon nodded, chuffed at the result she was seeing.

"You…" Devon turned her head to him before wheeling herself a bit. "You did a good job, baby brother. I'll treat you an ice cream later."

She ruffled his hair playfully while Ansel rolled his eyes. She had been tutoring him in her free time, so this was his payment for her services.

"I'm not a child," he muttered, but his ears reddened. He also bit his lower inner lip to suppress the smile attempting to resurface on his face.

"En. But we're still buying ice cream because tonight is movie night!" she grinned brightly, picking up the habit of binge-watching things to make her mind be more open to ideas. Not that she doesn't enjoy it, though.

"Alright," Ansel cleared his throat. She cast him a smile once again before turning her head to Kai and Dion. Her smile, however, grew sinister, sending a chill down their spine.

"Hoy, you two. My baby brother topped his exams. Won't you congratulate him?" she asked, almost threatening them.

"Sis, am I not your baby brother anymore?" asked Dion, as Ansel had been getting all their sister's affection to the point he was jealous already.

Devon clicked her tongue, gazing at him. "I still love you, Dion. But today is Ansel's day."

"Every day is Ansel's day!" although a bit taken aback by her words, Dion still complained. "You don't love me anymore."

"Tsk. I still do!"

Meanwhile, Kai furrowed his brows while pointing at himself. "What about me? Are you all having days to get Sister's affection? I remember nothing."

"Yes, we also have Kai's day," Devon smirked diabolically. "Remember all those days you have my undivided attention?"

Kai slowly gasped in disbelief, thinking that all those days Devon would come to him like Satan, who would drag him to hell, had one thing similar. They all happened on the same day of the week!

Meanwhile, in the Qin Empire. Lewis was in the middle of an important business meeting with the shareholders of the company when his phone vibrated. As everyone was voicing out their opinions, he checked his phone.

As soon as he read her message, Lewis scrolled down to see the attached image. He cleared his throat, leaning to his side as he wiped his lips with his fingers. He glanced at the people debating around the table before he texted back.
