"That's it." After listening to nonstop tattling from the other end of the line, Lewis finally had enough. He immediately cut the call short.

Everything had its limit. He didn't want to listen to nonsense all day; even though he had some sort of compensation.

"Did you kill him?" Devon inquired in panic as she drew away.

Blink. Blink. Blink.

His lips parted, but closed them again. His subtle reaction made her furrow her brows even more.

'Should I tell her I did?' He wondered internally, raising a brow.

"I just hang up. I can't listen anymore. But he is fine." In the end, Lewis thought not to go for the extreme, just for his own amusement.

"I see. I'm glad to hear that." Devon heaved a sigh of relief as she patted her chest. "Can I meet him?"

"Huh?"

Seeing his puzzled reaction, Devon raised her finger and pointed at his phone.

"He sounded very disheartened. I wanted to talk to him." Devon explained with a subtle smile.

It was only natural for her to act this way. Even though she was in a different body, her habit of listening to her people wouldn't go away easily.

"No." Despite her good intentions, Lewis answered with a cold and immediate no.

"Why?" she asked, tilting her head to the side. "Would it require a lot of mana to summon him?"

"Ah?"

"This thing." She pointed at the smartphone. "It seemed it is a convenient item. However, I know that there is always an underlying dark truth behind it."

Devon paused, staring at Lewis solemnly. The latter could not help but furrow his brows as he tried to analyze her nonsense.

"It's a slave, isn't it? If the fairy is inside it and if his only purpose is to convey a message from a far, why won't it come out? Perhaps, this thing is their prison?"

"What… nonsense?" Lewis' brows twitched upon hearing her ridiculous deduction.

What made it worse was that her expression told him she's dead serious. A slave? Prison? What the hell was she blabbering about suddenly?

"I may sound like a hypocrite. However, I do not want to use items that hurt others just for my convenience." Devon let out a faint sigh as her gaze landed on Lewis' smartphone.

She found it amusing at first. However, now that she thought about it, things that were amusing had always dark truths behind it. Just like in her kingdom, there were people slaving away just for the convenience of the high society.

However, many people were still ignorant about this dark secret. She was also unaware of it until she stumbled upon the dark truth.

Now that it reminded her about it, Devon felt guilty for listening in amusement. Her hand on her lap clutched her loose shirt tightly.

Lewis' face scrunched up. He shifted his eyes towards the rear mirror. As soon as he did, the driver glanced up. When the latter met his boss' gaze, he gulped down and raised the partition.

"What the hell are you talking about?" When there's no one listening or seeing them, Lewis turned to her and asked.

"This may sound normal for nobles like you. I don't want to judge my friend just because he is unaware of it." She hung her head low, biting her inner lip.

"What nonsense are you talking about? If this is 200 years ago, I will probably believe you. Haven't you heard about technology?" Although confused at this unprecedented conversation, Lewis just spoke whatever that came into his mind.

Devon slowly raised her head, her brows furrowed. "Tech — technology?"

"I'm just humoring you about the tiny man inside." Lewis let out a heavy sigh. "How do I explain it so you understand easily?"

Lewis pondered on how to explain it in simple terms. After all, he didn't expect that this would escalate to this.

"This device… should I crack it open?" He wondered, staring at his phone. It's an important device for him, though.

"Whatever. Listen carefully." He waved and just moved closer to her as he showed his phone.

Just as instructed, Devon listened carefully. Lewis had showed his phone to her, giving examples of how it worked. He even clarified that the tiny man inside was just a joke.

A literal joke of a brother. But he didn't explain it that way.

It was a long explanation that even Lewis felt exhausted. People used to present projects and talk nonstop in front of him, but Lewis felt she placed him in that same position after many years.

"So, do you now understand?" Lewis cocked his head to her.

"Oh…" Devon nodded in understanding. "Technology… it sounds complicated. But, remarkable."

"Well, it is life-changing. A revolutionary device." Lewis shrugged, heaving a sigh of relief.

Devon may sound innocent and oblivious to most obvious things. However, this brief talk with her made him realize she's only clueless. But that didn't mean she was dumb.

She's actually quick-witted.

"To think I'd be spending my vacation like this…" He mumbled, scratching his temple lightly.

"May I?" Devon raised her brows, pointing at his phone.

"Sure." Without a second hesitation, Lewis handed his phone to her. His phone that no else could ever touch but him.

As soon as he handed it to her, she swiped her finger left and right. Accidentally, Devon tapped on the camera.

She jolted a little upon seeing her face. "A mirror?"

Since Lewis wasn't paying attention, he glanced at her with a raised brow. His eyes glimpsed upon the screen. He narrowed his eyes.

"It's not a mirror. It's a built-in camera." He said, leaning closer to her until the camera caught him in the frame.

"Camera?" Devon furrowed her brows, staring at Lewis through the phone.

"Cameras captures the moment and freezes time for later enjoyment." He explained as he reached for her hand that was holding the phone.

Devon followed his guidance as she extended her arm. Her eyes on the phone.

"And then, press this button." He then turned his head to her.

When Devon felt his breath tickle her ears, she instinctively faced him. Momentarily, her breath hitched, seeing him up close — too close.

*click*

The corner of his lips curled into a mischievous smirk. He winked.

"See?" Slowly, he drew away and retrieved his phone back.

Without waiting, he tapped the gallery to see how it turned out. As soon as he saw it, his eyes glinted with satisfaction.

"Not bad." He commented, nodding. "I'll keep it. Heh."

Devon shook her head a little and shifted her attention to the phone. To her surprise, what's shown on the phone was the two of them starting at each other. Although it's only their side profile, one might misunderstand.

They're too close in the picture. Others might think it's a post or pre photo of something that appeared to be a very intimate moment.

"*gasp* I'm in it…!" Yet, she ignored how they appeared, as it did not show her face entirely.

"Hehe. Fun fact: once you sleep, you'll be stuck in this phone forever." Just for his own enjoyment, Lewis exclaimed evilly.

Again Devon gasped, staring at him in disbelief. 'Did he lie to me about technology?'
