Chapter 26:Romeo and Juliet

It didn't take long when Lewis received the contact numbers he needed. Separately, a message from his assistant followed.

[Young Master, I had informed the managers that you'd be calling them at any moment. Please, if this is about 3rd young master, let me handle it.]

"I hope it's actually about him." Lewis murmured coldly, ignoring the plea from his assistant.

Well, it would be easier if it were about his troublesome little brother. However, it was not the case. It was far worse than that. A matter which only Lewis could handle; or rather, a matter he wanted to handle himself... or not.

"Hey." Lewis turned to Devon, who was from the opposite side of the couch.

He told her to give him some space. Their distance slightly helped him calm down.

Upon hearing him, Devon immediately raised her head. Just with that, Lewis's shoulder flinched.

"Uh…"

"Yes, my friend? Did you hear anything from them?" She immediately inquired, wanting to rush to his side, but hesitated.

Lewis asked her not to come close for now. He said he needed space to breathe. She understood. One must need enough personal space.

"Not yet, but I'll be calling them."

"Call… with that thing, right?" Devon hurriedly inquired. One could tell how worried she was, as if they truly had anything to do with her.

"Yes."

"Can I talk to them?"

Lewis hasn't got the time to breathe, but her questions just kept on leaving her lips. He sighed as he nodded.

However, before Devon could come close, Lewis raised his hand in a defensive stance.

"Stay there."

"Huh?"

"I, uh… you can listen from there." He explained, and then added before she could ask again. "Just stay there."

"Oh…" Devon pressed her lips together, wanting to argue but couldn't.

Lewis heaved a sigh of relief upon seeing her motionlessly. Without thinking more about it, he called the first manager handling the actor.

It only took one ring and the call immediately went through. This did not surprise Lewis. His calls were never picked up by more than three rings. Even so, he asked for both manager's numbers just in case.

"Hello?"

"Is this Manager Ang? This is Qin Lewis." Unlike his usual tone with Devon, Lewis suddenly sounded distant and cold.

"Ah! Yes, Young Master Qin! Assistant Wang informed me you will be calling. Is there something that Young Master Qin needs?"

"Are they alright?" After all that long, polite talk, Lewis' questions temporarily rendered the other person in the line speechless.

Lewis didn't even bother with the long, awkward silence. Feigning ignorant of how ridiculous this was.

"Young Master Qin, may I know who are you referring to?"

"Hey, you. What is the name of your friends, again?" Instead of answering Manager Ang, Lewis turned to Devon.

"Oh, it's Romeo and Juliet."

As soon as Lewis heard the names, the right side of his face twitched. For a moment, he gritted his teeth as he inhaled and exhaled.

"Is Romeo alright?" He swallowed his pride as a human being and asked.

"Romeo…?" Manager Ang repeated, obviously confused. If the person he was talking to was someone else, Manager Ang would assume it was the artist he's handling.

However, this was Lewis Qin. The man leading the parent company of their talent agency. Someone like Manager Ang wouldn't be able to talk to casually. Hence, this had become too confusing for the manager.

"Ro-me-o. Is he alright?" Again, Lewis repeated. "The one from that She Used to Be Mine."

'I want to die.' Lewis grumbled internally as he just realized how far he had gone for her.

Still, he pressed the speaker mode for Devon to hear. He couldn't even face his phone as he looked away, self-reflecting.

The curious Devon raised her brows, darting her eyes from him to the phone in his hands. To her surprise, which made her flinch, a voice came out from the phone.

"Ah… ah, ha haha. Romeo. Ye — yes, young master Qin. He is alright." A bit threatened and dumbfounded, Manager Ang still answered awkwardly.

"Really?" Upon hearing Manager Ang's reassurance, Devon chimed in.

She grabbed Lewis' wrist to her and bent down, yelling. "Are Romeo and Juliet and their child really alright?!"

'Oh, good lord…' Lewis' soul left his body that instant. He didn't have the time to tell her to shut up, busy catching his soul from ascending.

"Ah —" For a moment, Manager Ang didn't answer. Not because he didn't want to. He just couldn't out of shock.

"Are you there? Why are you not answering me? Did something happen?" Worried, Devon exclaimed.

"Ah, yes, young miss!" His surprised still lingered in Manager Ang's voice. However, he had to answer. Hence, he forced himself to get a grip.

"Romeo and Juliet and their child are alright!"

Even Manager Ang didn't understand why he addressed his talent and the other artist like that. Well, he's too shock to think right now.

"Are you certain?" Devon asked just to make sure.

"Ye — yes. I'm sure…"

"Good riddance." Devon heaved a sigh of relief as she loosened her grip around his wrist.

She then turned to Lewis, smiling from ear to ear. "Did you hear that, my friend?"

"Ahem." Lewis cleared his throat, looking away as he pulled his phone away.

As if he didn't just die internally with this just now, Lewis composed himself.

"Manager Ang, send me proof of the three of them just to make sure. You have those on the set, right?"

This was too much for him. He was not only flustered. But also, Lewis never felt this embarrass in his life.

"Oh, young master Qin. About that…"

"I'll really appreciate it if you do. My friend here is just worried." Before Manager Ang could refuse, Lewis dealt with it swiftly.

This only means Lewis would be indebted to Manager Ang. It was far better than being paid.

If this was another person, Manager Ang wouldn't send photos that easily. However, Lewis wouldn't have any intention, anyway. He could destroy them if he was that unreasonable.

"Alright, young master Qin." In the end, Manager Ang agreed.

"Also, this call never happened. Erase it in your memory." Just as he was about to end the line, Lewis reminded him.

"Ye — yes, of course."

"Good." Then, end of the call.

As the line ended, Lewis rested his back against the backrest of the couch. He felt exhausted, mentally exhausted.

'Why did I even agree when I know I'd be the one suffering?' Lewis huffed as he shot the television a look.

'I will break that.'

"My friend." Just as Lewis was plotting to vent his anger towards the innocent television, Devon called out.

Lewis didn't turn his head in her direction. But he was listening.

"Thank you." She expressed, smiling charmingly as she had regained her peace of mind.

However, Lewis remained motionless. His eyes fixed on the television.

'I'll let you off for now.' He uttered internally, talking about the television.

"If you're thankful, don't bother me for now." He lazily cocked his head and looked at her.

"Yes!"

Just as Devon answered, Lewis felt his phone vibrate. He raised his hand to check what it was. Seeing it was a picture of the three stars on the drama together; exactly wearing the ones they wore in the scene.

Lewis tossed the phone to her. "See? They are alright."

"I'm glad they are safe." She expressed, almost crying in happiness.

'Goodness… she should worry about my safety as well.' Lewis sighed as he stood up to make her popcorn.
