Chapter 37 - What's In Her Gallery

Lewis glanced at Devon, who was engrossed watching another drama. It had become a marathon at this point. He gazed down, watching her hand picking up a popcorn to her lips while her eyes fixed on the television.

'I don't understand the logic in these romance dramas she's watching.' He commented internally, shaking his head as he let out a sigh.

He had never watched a drama in his entire life. It just didn't click to him as he was busy studying as the heir of their family business.

Lewis then gazed at her phone, charging near the television. His brow raised, pursing his lips in a thin line as he shifted his gaze back to her.

"Hey." He called out in a low tone.

Devon only raised her brows without looking away from the television.

"Hmm?"

"Can I borrow your phone?" He asked after clearing his throat.

"Alright…" she answered in disinterest. Devon didn't even cast him a look as she replied.

"Are you sure?" Lewis arched his brow, tilting his head to the side. "I will look through everything."

But Devon didn't answer anymore. She continued on eating and watching, holding her breath as the drama entered an emotional scene.

"You gave me permission." Lewis shrugged his shoulders, assisting himself up.

He then trudged towards the phone, checking that it had fully charged. Lewis then unplug it, turning it on as he walked back to the couch.

'I really didn't want to take advantage of her indifference.' Lewis sighed as he shook his head. 'But I'm curious if there's something important thing she left on her phone.'

When the phone showed the logo brand of the phone, his eyes waited for her lock screen to appear. It didn't take long when a default lock screen appeared.

Lewis didn't waste time placing his thumb on the screen, swiping up to unlock it. The phone didn't require pass code, causing the corner of his lips to turn up into a mischievous smirk.

For someone who invaded no one's privacy before, to do something like this would shock anyone to the core. Lewis never took interest in anyone as much as this.

'Let's see…' Lewis first went into her gallery, hoping to see something interesting. To his disappointment, there were only twenty pictures in total.

Well, he only had two on his phone. Both taken yesterday.

Lewis still went on for it. He clicked the album, only to see more disappointments.

There were only pictures of topless manhwa male characters, and some irrelevant screenshots. He scrolled up to see more, but there was not a single picture of her.

'What do I expect from her? She doesn't even look in the mirror.' Lewis grumbled internally, prompting to exit the gallery to proceed in going through other apps.

However, something caught his eyes which made him pause. He narrowed his eyes, tapping the photo among the small photos.

'What the…' He furrowed his brows, casting Devon's side profile an apologetic look.

In the photo, it was a hand of a young woman holding a wrinkled hand of an elder. Lewis had heard about Devon's close relationship with her grandfather.

His assistant told her about Devon's background and mentioned about her close relationship with her grandfather. But he paid no attention to it because he didn't want to meddle with her personal life.

'Ahh…' He massaged his temple in distress, pinching the bridge of his nose as he closed his eyes.

How could he forget?

'Even though she cut ties with her family, they have the right to know.' He muttered inwardly, massaging his brows with his thumb and middle finger.

His interest in going through her phone faded away as he tossed her phone to the side. He looked at her side profile, contemplating deeply.

"I'll be back," He said, picking up his phone as he got up from his seat.

Devon didn't even reply, as if she didn't hear him. He glanced at her before going to the balcony for some fresh air.

When he arrived at his destination, he closed the door behind him. Lewis immediately speed dialed his assistant's number, placing the phone in front of his ear as it rang.

"Uh, Derek." Lewis muttered as soon as the line connected. "Did you say Miss Lin and her grandfather have a close relationship?"

"Yes, young master."

"What do you think of setting up a meeting with President Lin?" Lewis inquired, staring at the garden below.

Agnes was there, watering the plants, doing all her chores without a break. But she seemed very satisfied for a reason.

"Is this because of Miss Lin's condition?" Derek asked solemnly.

Lewis didn't answer immediately as a sigh slipped past his lips.

"I just think her family has the right to know."

His conscience tugged his heart upon seeing that picture. Devon didn't remember her past, but that didn't mean he should turn a blind eye on it.

Derek remained silent for a minute before he spoke. "Young master, are you trying to insult Miss Lin?"

"Ah?" Lewis furrowed his brows in bafflement. "Derek, even though they chased her out of the house, they're still family. Also, they wouldn't embarrass her if I came with her."

"Young master, Miss Lin is the one who broke ties with them. Knowing her character, she will choose death than reconcile with them." Derek explained solemnly, baffling Lewis even more.

"How can you say that?" The corner of Lewis' lips curved down. "I just saw a picture of her holding her grandfather's hand."

"Miss Lin told me herself." Derek asserted.

"Is that so?" Lewis let out a sigh, uncertain whether it was because of relief or worry.

"Chairman Lin had been in a coma for years. I can send you Miss Lin's biography if you want, young master."

Lewis remained silent as he watched Agnes from the garden head inside.

"Don't send them." Lewis ordered under his breath, as his eyes glinted dangerously.

"Come over here.. I have a hunch a company will go bankrupt if you don't."
