Chapter 68 - He Needs To Breathe

"Fa — father?" Dion gasped, his hand on his chest as he gazed at her phone suspiciously.

"I told you it's Daddy!" Ghost Lin croaked from Devon's side.

"My daddy," Devon corrected, but when Dion didn't react, she clarified in a straight tone. "My daddy, your brother." Shaking the phone for him to take it.

'Plus ten points for me as a best supporting character,' Ghost Lin mumbled proudly as she watched everything unfold before her eyes.

"Uh." Dion accepted the phone but didn't say a word. Lewis as well. They were both rendered speechless, as they had to take a minute to process everything.

What Dion heard next was the line being cut short. Dion was not even surprised as he slowly dropped his hand, staring at her in a distraught state.

"Are you alright?" Devon asked, tilting her head as Dion was acting strangely. "You didn't talk to my daddy."

Dion shivered when she mentioned 'daddy' again. "Sis," Dion mumbled helplessly. "Why are you calling big brother daddy now and not 'my friend'?"

"He calls me a child. I thought of humoring him by calling him Father."

Dion's brows twitched, having a vague idea of the situation. "You mean, he calls you baby?"

Devon nodded, and he pinched the space between his brows. Everything in this relationship was so wrong! There's so much silly misunderstanding to the point it was ridiculous.

"Sis, can you just call him your friend?" Dion asked exasperatedly.

Devon frowned. "Why? He calls me a child and I can't call him father?"

"Just…" Dion winced, feeling his head throb. "… calling him Daddy can mean differently, you see."

"Differently?" Devon quirked a brow as she tilted her head. "How different?"

Dion sighed heavily. He just arrived, and he was already this stressed, and he had to spend a day with her. Just how did Lewis manage to spend an entire week locked up with her?

"You see..." Dion cleared his throat, leaning in, gesturing for her to lend him her ear. Devon leaned over and listened to him whisper his explanation.

Her eyes slowly widened as she immediately shot Ghost Lin a look. The latter raised her hand in surrender.

"I'm innocent, really!" Ghost Lin uttered, but couldn't conceal her smug grin.

Meanwhile, Lewis hung his head low, his hand covering his lips as his ears and face burned up. He just teased her by calling her baby, but he didn't think she'd call him "Daddy"!

'How can she be so adorable?' he wondered internally, knowing it sounded so wrong, but also… right. Either way, it made him feel a little… hot.

If Devon called him that in front of him, he might lose his mind. But he knew Dion would do something about it.

"That's right… I should tell him that," He mumbled, nodding approvingly just in case Dion didn't find fault in it.

"Young Master." Derek's voice startled him back to reality.

"What?"

Derek stared at him through the rear mirror. "Are you okay? Your face is all red."

"Yes." Lewis cleared his throat as he waved. "It's nothing, don't concern yourself about it." He straightened his back, loosening his tie a little so he could breathe.

Derek observed his boss's action but pointed out nothing. Instead, he spoke something that he had been planning to tell Lewis for later.

"Young Master, about Miss Lin, I thought that its best if you send her to school." Derek voiced out, after careful consideration of Devon's current health and mental condition.

"Miss Lin didn't finish her master's degree in business management, so I thought sending her back to school will keep her mind active along with her therapy."

Lewis furrowed his back as he rested his back against the seat. Derek's idea wasn't bad as he had considered it just days ago.

"It should be fine since the fifth young master will take his master's degree next year," Derek added, showing how much he had considered this matter.

"I see." Lewis nodded approvingly. "I'll ask her opinions about it. Prepare her proper documents for now."

"Yes, sir."

"Sis, don't you want to become famous?" Dion asked, raising his brows in anticipation. He had brought Devon to a nearby cafe since he didn't want to stay inside the apartment, just like the past several days he'd been there.

Devon furrowed her brows. "Why would I want to be famous?"

"Well, famous people have a lot of perks!" Dion pounded the bottom of his fist against the table. "Also, I'm very famous myself!"

Devon frowned, gazing at him suspiciously. Dion was too flashy in her eyes. Although he wasn't ugly, he didn't look like someone who was famous.

"Right… I heard he's a rapper." Ghost Lin chimed in, nodding as she remembered it perfectly. "I think I heard a few of his songs. He's good."

"Sis, the way you look at me is upsetting." Dion sighed heavily, shaking his head as Devon's expression had told him enough.

He fished his phone out together with his AirPods. Dion then dragged his seat next to her, placing the phone in front of her as he offered her one earpiece.

"Put this in your ear, sis." He instructed, wiggling his brows. Devon suspiciously took the AirPod, but didn't put it inside her ear.

"You put it like this." Dion showed how he hooked the AirPod in his ear while she observed.

Devon pursed her lips, trying to put it in her ear, but obviously had some difficulty. So, out of the goodness of his heart, Dion offered.

"Let me help —" But before he could touch her, Devon backs away, saying, "No, it's… fine."

"Oh." Dion awkwardly nodded and let her. He didn't find it offensive, but he had noticed that Devon didn't like being touched. But she didn't mind Lewis' touches, though.

'Weird." He thought.

"Goddamn it. Push it with your thumb!" Ghost Lin flared up as she had been instructing her until Devon successfully put the Airpod in her ear.

"Who puts an earplug for five minutes?!" Ghost Lin grumbled in distress. Just watching Devon struggle was stressful.

"I did it!" Devon smiled happily at Dion, ignoring the ghost who was throwing a tantrum.

Dion forced a smile, biting his tongue before he could ask how Devon could smile so proudly after putting on an earplug for five minutes.

"Ahem!" Dion cleared his throat as he searched for one of his hit songs. "Listen, these are my songs, alright?"

"Your song?"

"Yes! I wrote them myself!" Dion proudly rubbed his nose. "This one, I think you will like this."

Devon held her breath in anticipation and flinched when the sound came from the AirPods. She looked at him, a bit surprised.

"You… sound like a girl," she commented, making his brows twitched.

"Sis, please don't joke like that. Of course, it sounds like a girl because a girl sings this part." Dion gasped in horror.

Devon's lips formed into an O-shape, nodding as she listened to the song. It started out slow with a woman's soulful voice until…

Devon frowned as the rap part came in. After listening more, Devon panicked as she pressed the pause button.

"Sis?" Dion knitted his brows as Devon slowly raise her eyes and caught his gaze. "You don't like it?"

"I do, but…" Devon trailed off as she shifted her gaze to the phone. "… he needs to breathe."

"…"
