Chapter 75 - Third, Fourth, Fifth, And The Ghost

"I told you, I don't know. I might have lost my mind for a second." Lewis let another deep breath as he let her go. "But just so you know, I actually thought of kissing you. Be careful around me next time."

Devon carefully broke away from him as she plopped her butt down beside him, gazing down on her knuckles placed on her lap. He was warning her, but she didn't feel the slightest fear despite his action. Instead, her worry was about hiding her flustered cheek.

"I'm still a man and with a beauty like you in front of me, it's hard to resist the temptation," He mumbled as he picked up his phone. "I'll sleep later. You rest if you want." Lewis glanced at her and sighed, scratching his temple as it seemed he went overboard.

'What am I thinking?' he wondered internally, annoyed at his impulse actions. 'It was because of that… ugh! Goddamn it!' Lewis gritted his teeth as he wanted to punish himself with 100 canes.

How could he act rashly after treading on thin ice around her? Now, not only did he make things awkward between them, he seemed he had scared her. A total sabotage!

'No rush, my *ss!' His mind grumbled in disappointment! 'How many of your principles will you break because of your greediness, huh? Did you lose your senses after falling in love?! Look at her! She's too scared now!'

Lewis sighed as he glanced at her. Devon didn't move an inch, or rather, in his eyes, she was too shocked, traumatized to even lift a finger. He couldn't turn back time now, could he? He had already said what he had said and did what he had done.

'But it's better that she knows I'm not as pure as she thinks I am.' He thought inwardly, thinking that there was still some kind of results for his actions. By doing this now, Devon would be more cautious to keep his feelings in check.

'Selfish! Shameless! Pervert!' His mind hollered, he but ignored it as he shifted his attention back on his phone.

After some time, Lewis glanced at her once again. Devon didn't make any unnecessary movements, and it had been almost thirty minutes.

"Are you…" he trailed off when she flinched upon hearing his voice. He sighed helplessly, shaking his head lightly. "I'll be staying up late. It's getting late, so you should sleep now."

Staying up late? No, he planned to stay up all night! How could he sleep beside her after giving her a scare? There's a limit to his shamelessness.

Devon bit her lip as hard as she could. When she turned her head to him, Lewis quirked his brow in surprise as her eyes were glinting in discontent. She stood up without a word, gazing down at him with her hand clenched into a fist.

"Miss Lin?" he called, feeling an ominous aura around her as she seemed extremely angry. Well, it was understandable that she'd be upset, but it seemed she was angry at something else.

"I stayed here to keep you company and yet, you kept driving me away, so fine!" She huffed, her cheek still flushed from stabilizing her racing heart. "I'll go since my presence here seems to bother you."

Devon turned around and stomped her feet away. Lewis raised his brows when she halted and walked back to him.

"Wha, what?" He panicked, as it seemed she would beat him to a pulp.

She huffed once again, narrowing her eyes before kicking his shin. Lewis gasped as he instinctively hunched in pain, rubbing his shin.

"Be careful around me as well. There's only a limit of nonsense I can tolerate," she warned before walking away, then slammed the door closed.

'Serves you right!' His mind sneered as Lewis winced at the throbbing pain in his shin. "Ugh… I only want her to rest since I scared her," He mumbled through his gritted teeth, but it seemed that wasn't the case.

Meanwhile, Devon puffed her cheeks as she rested her back against the door. Of course, she was upset at him for stirring her emotions whenever he pleased, then just act nonchalant about it and send her away.

"What a rake," she mumbled under her breath, more upset that he thought of kissing her because of her looks and not because of how he felt. "If Ghost Lin is here, she will surely ask me to kick him." She nodded, as Ghost Lin wouldn't let him off easily.

Devon bit her lower lip as her eyes stung. 'I told him I can't take lightly of his sincerity, but that didn't mean he can pull my heartstrings whenever he pleased.' She wiped her eyes with her arms before trudging towards the bed and collapsed on it.

"Just you wait." she glared at the door. "I will tell you to Ghost Lin." she threatened before wrapping her body with the blanket.

Meanwhile, inside the high-end private bar lounge. Ghost Lin rubbed her shoulders as she felt a sudden chill down her spine.

"Damn it! Who the fuck is cursing me?!" she grumbled as she felt as though someone was speaking ill of her name.

"My brothers! I came to collect my money!" Ghost Lin turned her head towards the door of the private bar lounge. There, Dion was strutting his way in with his arms spread open.

"Big brother's blind dates are getting shorter and hopeless." A man inside the private lounge sitting comfortably with a glass of wine in his hand, slipped his hand inside his suit and tossed an envelope on the table.

"Fourth brother, did you really bet that it'll last for an hour?" another man in just a casual white tee and ripped pants chuckled as he placed a cheque on the table.

"Rio thinks just because Big Brother Lu had a vacation, he will last that long." Dion laughed as he plopped down beside Rio, the fourth young master of the Qin Family. He then turned to his other brother, who paid him in cheque. "Kai, you also think so since you bet he'll last for at least thirty minutes."

Dion happily collected his winnings, as he was the closest one who had guessed how long Lewis would last. He had guessed 13 minutes, but Derek told them it was over 9 minutes, which surprised all of them as it had been too long since Lewis ended a date that quick.

"Since I'm the winner of today's bet, drinks are on me!" Dion announced happily, as he felt like being generous with his brothers.

"You should." Rio clicked his tongue, not a bit happy despite the free drinks.

"Fourth brother, if I were you, break up with your girlfriend and enjoy life!" Kai commented as Rio had been in a long-term relationship, but couldn't marry because Lewis hadn't married yet.

In their family tradition, the first son should get married first before the younger ones. But with Lewis' resistance to marriage or even in dating, marriage for them was impossible.

"Kai, one more word and let's see if you can handle the consequences," Rio warned, his eyes darkened, displeased at Kai, the fifth young master of the Qin Family, remarks.

"Well, I'm just saying, taste all the dishes while you can." Kai shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly, as he preferred the freedom of being single.

"Kai!"

"Hey, hey! Calm down, brothers!" Dion clapped, used to his brother's temperament. "Aren't you curious how I won the bet?" he asked, diverting their attention as he also needed their help.

Both Rio and Kai raised their brow as they put their attention on Dion. They watched as the corner of Dion's lips curled into a smug grin.

"Someone finally captivates the devil's heart." Dion rubbed his nose cockily, propping his arm against the table as he crooked a finger as if telling them to listen carefully.

"The problem is, she only sees him as a friend."

"Nonsense!"

"What? Friendzoned?"

"Wow… this third young master of the Qin is really putting in an effort." Ghost Lin nodded, pleased at Dion's efforts at asking for his other brothers' help.. "Is there a way to have a temporary body so I can help this fool?" she wondered, pondering if she could demand such an absurd request from Kween.
