Chapter 87 - A Spectacle

Dion and his manager caused a scene, as the latter wouldn't let him go. Meanwhile, Devon slowly peeled her eyes away from them and her eyes unconsciously landed on Bella.

'Hmm?' Devon slightly furrowed her brows as she noticed that the confident Bella seemed self-conscious and anxious. 'What happened to her?'

Devon wondered as she studied Bella before she noticed Mike shaking his head.

"Michael, how do I look?" Bella asked Mike in a low tone, but Devon still heard her.

Mike drew his head away, sporting this conflicted expression. "Really? You're asking me that?"

"Is there a reason I shouldn't? Your friend needs your honest opinion." Bella arched a brow as she lifted her chin. Although she was confident with her looks, she still felt self-conscious in front of Dion because her beauty didn't seem to affect him.

"Err… you look." Mike just raised a thumb, casting her a look of disinterest. "Like always."

"Sis Bella, you're always pretty." One of her lackeys chimed in, boasting Bella's confidence and then followed by the other.

"That's right. Sister Bella is too humble. I'm sure you can catch anyone's eyes just by standing!"

"Senior Bella, they are right." Avah also chimed in, gaining browny points from Bella just to be in her favor.

It was not a secret that Bella had been Dion's fan and had a crush on him for a long time. There were even rumors circulating the two — even fans shipping the two — but many in the company knew that they were just friends (since Bella was friends with Mike). Still, although these girls sounded like they were rooting for Bella, there was a part in their hearts that wanted to get noticed by Dion as well.

After all, Dion wasn't just a successful artist with a large fanbase, he was also a Qin. With fame, looks, and wealth, Dion was one of the hottest artists that appealed to many women in and outside the industry and the high society. Having time to interact with him or just bump into him could give them a chance to get noticed by him.

"Bella," Mike called out as he draped an arm over the table and faced her squarely.

"What?" Bella asked, furrowing her brows with the solemn expression on Mike's face.

Mike let out a deep sigh as he felt sorry for Bella. "There's something I want to tell you, but… ahh."

"You're making me feel very anxious."

"Just steel your heart, sister." In the end, Mike could only say this, as the news about Dion would surely break Bella's heart.

"If you keep doing this, I will kill you myself!" Dion threatened shamelessly as he ground his teeth, tugging his arm away, but his manager clung on to his leg instead.

"He is making a spectacle of himself," Devon murmured as the scene had garnered a lot of attention already. "How embarrassing."

"I know, right?!" Ghost Lin chimed in as she stood beside the table, her eyes on the two. "Goodness. I'm getting a second-hand embarrassment even when I'm just a ghost."

"What did you say?" Bella uttered, catching Devon's attention as Devon shifted her eyes to her. "Who did you call embarrassing?"

Bella's tone sounded sarcastic, as if she was the one who felt insulted. Seeing this as a chance, Avah also voiced out in a weak tone.

"Devon, how can you say that to Senior Dion? Even though they were making a scene, it was probably because of Senior Dion's manager's fault."

Mike awkwardly raised his hand, but before he could stop the girls, Bella already spoke.

"Miss Lin, I don't know who you are, but please refrain from blatantly slandering my friends."

Devon pressed her lips together, appalled. "You baffle me. What gave you the impression I was slandering him?" she tilted her head to the side, as this didn't make sense to her.

Bella snickered as she lightly shook her head. She took a deep breath, sporting a sharp expression, with her eyes fixed on Devon. As if on cue, her lackey was about to speak for her, but Avah went ahead of them.

"Devon, I'm saying this because I'm your friend, but you should stop saying things that might hurt you in the future." Avah's voice sounded utterly concerned. "Senior Chang is just trying to protect Senior Dion, and you should be thankful since she's informing you since you don't know."

"Wow, Devon Lin." Ghost Lin turned around when the confrontation started and was in awe. "I just left you for a moment and you let these types of people near you?"

Ghost Lin sported a look of disdain. These people wouldn't even have the chance to be at the same table as her if she was in that body. So, she commended Devon for being able to put up with the pretentious air around them.

Devon ignored Ghost Lin for now as she gazed at Avah's pretentious, concerned act. "Protection is given if asked, otherwise, your goodwill will come as an insult."

"You…!" Bella clenched her hand and ground her teeth.

"Alright, girls!" Mike intervened before things could go out of hand. They were like fans versus an anti-fan in his eyes, and he wasn't even surprised, as this was what they called Dion's effect.

"Please calm down and don't be unreasonable."

"Unreasonable?" Bella shifted her sharp eyes that seemed it could even cut steel to Mike. "I don't know and I don't care about your relationship with her, but you know Dion."

"Bella, it's not what you thi… nk."

Mike trailed off as Dion suddenly yelled, "Fine! Fine! I will think about it!"

Dion forcefully pulled his legs away from his manager as the latter tried to stop him at all costs. He dusted his clothes in irritation.

"Geez! Do you know how important today for me is?!" Dion grumbled, not even holding back despite the eyes that were on them. "How can I focus on mentally preparing myself if you kept doing this? Tsk!"

"Young master, that's because you just stormed out of the boss' office!"

Dion glared daggers at his manager and clicked his tongue once again. "If I failed on today's lunch date, I won't live anymore!"

"Please don't say that." His manager nearly wept as he watched Dion stomped his feet away.

"Damn, such a sentimental statement," Mike murmured as his mind totally misunderstood everything!

Seeing that the angry Dion was approaching their table, Bella glanced at Devon before shifting her attention to Dion's approaching figure. All the other girls also secretly sported their best smile to welcome him.

"Brother Dion." Bella abruptly stood up as soon as Dion came close and greeted.

Her greeting was followed by Avah and Bella's lackey's sweet, "Hello Senior Dion~"

However, Dion only responded with a nonchalant nod and stood behind Devon's seat. Devon looked back and drew her back away from the backrest — avoiding getting touched by him even for a bit — when Dion placed his hands over the seat.

"Mike, how can you ask her to eat with you?" Dion inquired as he glanced at the food Devon was eating, his fingers tapping the backrest of the seat impatiently. "I told you, off-limits!"

Mike scratched the back of his head. "Er… it's because I thought Devon was hungry since I toured her around."

Dion raised a brow as cocked his head, his eyes on Devon. "How about today's lunch date?"

And silence befell on the table as everyone's eyes were at Dion and Devon, misunderstanding everything! Digging a grave for Dion.
