Chapter 92 - Ghost Lin's Regret

"Baby, do you like my name so much?"

Lewis felt like he heard a loud gong rang in his ear with what she said. He blinked, trying to snap himself out of his shock.

"What… did you say?" he stammered, almost out of breath.

"You like my name so much and called me repeatedly… like a baby."

"Ah." Lewis nodded and covered his lips with the back of his hand, clearing his throat while his ear reddened. Why did that endearment have a different effect on him?

"See? It's unpleasant to be deemed as a child," Devon muttered cluelessly, as it seemed that flustered him. "Le… wis."

Her muffled remarks made him quirk a brow as he raised his head. "What?"

"Lewis." She puffed her cheek and averted her eyes, feeling a little strange calling him by his name.

"It sounds… nice." Lewis cleared his throat as he also averted his eyes when she shifted her gaze back on him.

The air between the two slowly grew awkward as they couldn't look at each other in the eye. Dion, who was watching them from the corner, scrunched his nose up as he could feel the awkwardness from there.

"Are they serious?" Dion gasped in disbelief with his palm on his chest. "How can they act as if they just met when they will sleep together later?"

Surely, Dion wouldn't understand those two and it would only give him a graver headache. There's a certain limit his mind could take for the day, so trying to understand those two right now would make his mind explode.

"Geez… they are acting like teenagers…" he trailed off and raised a brow when he saw a message from Mike. Seeing his friend's name reminded him he had to brief Mike to never, ever try to woo Devon if he wanted to live.

[From : Mike

Yo! Brother! How was the date? Bella will throw a small celebration party about the success of my album in a week. I won't forgive you if you missed it!

PS. Take Devon with you <3 ]

Dion ground his teeth as his blood boiled, seeing the last message in Mike's chat. He read it again only to see that he didn't read it wrong. So, he angrily replied;

[ To : Mike

Hey! I told you off-limits! What the fuck is that heart? Do you want to die? ]

[ From : Mike

Easy, man. *laughing emoji* just come to my party, alright!? You haven't told me about everything and this is a rare opportunity. Love me, my friend! ]

"What the!" Dion cringed as he nearly tossed his phone away because of disgust. He had been friends with Mike, but Dion had never got used to this cringe.

[ From : Mike

Yo, did you faint? I didn't mean you love me as a man, don't get the wrong idea. ]

[ To: Mike

Who is getting the wrong idea?! Stop saying nonsense! Fuck! ]

[ From : Mike

Wow… I can feel your dark aura from wherever you are. Brother, I like Devon, but I still respect our friendship. So I really wish you the best! ]

Dion nearly choked on his own saliva as he dropped his phone on the table. He was aware that bringing Devon might cause a minor misunderstanding to others, but all they could do was speculate. However, he didn't expect that Mike, of all people, would misunderstand it as well!

"Just what did he think he's doing?" he grumbled, as he chose not to reply to Mike anymore. "I'll just clear it up later since Mike is not a big mouth and no one will dare speak about it outside the company."

He nodded, convinced that this rumor will only be a rumor inside the company. As long as it wouldn't go out, Dion would be safe from Lewis' clutches. Goodness, was this what eunuchs felt when they serve the king?

"This is really draining…" Dion grumbled as he avoided looking in Lewis and Devon's direction to reduce his stress.

Meanwhile, in a private hospital room in the city, the sound of the heart monitor filled the air. Ghost Lin carefully passed through the wall and sauntered towards the person lying on the bed.

She glanced at the nurse checked the IV drip before adjusting the room's temperature. Without a word, the nurse did everything and then left the room, leaving the person lying on the bed and another middle-aged woman just sitting on the side of the bed.

"Grandpa…" Ghost Lin slowly sat on the edge of the bed, staring at her unconscious grandfather, who was still in life's support until now. She reached for his wrinkly hand, smiling bitterly, as she couldn't feel his warmth.

"Chairman, wake up soon." Ghost Lin shifted her gaze to the middle-aged woman who was massaging her grandfather's feet. "The young miss hasn't been updating her novels… she must be having a hard time."

The middle-aged woman's voice was filled with sadness and worry, making Ghost Lin's eyes soften. "Auntie Flora…"

"Should I re-read her novel from the beginning?" Flora sported a forced smile as she took a deep breath, picking up the tablet on the bedside, and started reading Ghost Lin's 'safe' novel.

Until recently, Ghost Lin didn't know her biggest supporter in her book was Flora, the most trusted person on her grandfather's side. If Ghost Lin knew that, she would've written more decent novels instead of gore.

While Flora was reading her first chapter in a loud yet soft voice, Ghost Lin faced her grandfather. She held his hand while the other cupped his wrinkled cheek.

"Grandpa, I don't have much time left." Ghost Lin choked, puffing her cheek as she blew air from her mouth. "I... I'm sorry."

She had been visiting him every time she wasn't around Devon. However, Ghost Lin barely spoke to his unconscious grandfather, as she didn't know what to tell him. But today, she wanted to tell him a lot of things, so she mustered her courage to speak.

"Your granddaughter is not as strong as you think and I…" she took a deep breath and forced a smile.. "… I missed you so much."
