Chapter 35 Springboard
“Gah!”
A crow let out a shrill cry and landed on a tree nearby.
Sun Mingrui shifted his gaze away from the tree.
There were too many crows.
He walked to the Jiang martial arts school’s entrance and felt his scalp numb when he saw the wide open door.
The large amount of coagulated blood in the courtyard had attracted a bunch of big-headed flies, telling them what terrible things had happened there.
“What are you doing here?”
Jin Yuchen’s voice suddenly came from behind him.
Sun Mingrui instinctively threw a yin-lifting palm backward.
Then, Jin Yuchen grabbed his neck.
“I’m asking you what you’re doing here.”
Hearing Jin Yuchen’s anger, Sun Mingrui quickly broke free from his grip and turned to him, cupping his hands.
“Master Jin, I’m sorry. I overreacted.”
Jin Yuchen looked at Sun Mingrui calmly for a while, then said, “Let’s go in.”
He led Sun Mingrui into the martial arts school.
Sun Mingrui immediately saw Jiang Hu’s headless corpse sitting upright on the chair, and his hair stood on end.
He looked up at Jin Yuchen in disbelief. “Master Jin, why did you bring me here?”
Jin Yuchen placed the tofu pudding and deep-fried dough sticks he had bought on the table, lifted a chair, and greeted Sun Mingrui.
“Don’t make a fuss. You haven’t eaten, right? Let’s eat together.”
Sun Mingrui bit the bullet and sat at the table. Jiang Hu’s corpse exuded a strong bloody smell that lingered in his nose.
Jin Yuchen stuffed a fried dough stick in his mouth and said while chewing, “You saw what happened. My family’s martial arts school was attacked when I was fighting in the ring yesterday.”
As he spoke, he pushed another set of breakfast to Sun Mingrui.
“Eat this. Senior Sister said she’s not hungry.”
Sun Mingrui wanted to say something but hesitated. Jin Yuchen’s condition was a little abnormal. However, in order not to agitate him, he could only reply, “Thank you, Master Jiang,”
Jin Yuchen continued eating. “You don’t have to be so cooperative. I’m subconsciously avoiding reality. It’s a psychological problem. “As a normal person, you’re my anchor point to distinguish reality. What you’re doing will only make me lose myself in the illusion.
“I don’t know what I’ll do when I go crazy. You don’t want that either, do you?”
Sun Mingrui’s heart felt as if a huge rock had been lifted off his chest after listening to Jin Yunchen.
It was good news that Jin Yuchen was not completely crazy.
“Master Jin, I know a pretty good psychiatrist. Would you like to give it a try?” he asked after some consideration.
“I’ll leave it to you then, Master Sun.” Jin Yuchen nodded. “Although I don’t think it’ll be
of much use.
“But shouldn’t you be more concerned about where your grandson is?”
“I was already mentally prepared when I saw Master Jiang’s body,” said Sun Mingrui with a bitter expression.
“Even Master Jiang was killed, so there’s no
reason for my grandson to be alive. That’s the only benefit of being old. Our ability to develop emotions is not as strong as yours, young
people.”
Jin Yuchen picked up his bowl and took a sip of his tofu pudding. “Is that so? That’s great. Your grandson should still be alive. I didn’t find any of his blood.”
Sun Mingrui wanted to say that was great, but when he thought of Jiang Hu’s corpse, he
didn’t say it.
Jin Yuchen looked at Sun Mingrui, who was hesitating to say something, and continued. “Don’t worry. He’s also my disciple. I’ll do my
best to save him.”
Sun Mingrui stood up and bowed to Jin Yuchen.
“Then I’ll have to trouble you, Master Jin.”
Jin Yuchen’s expression was calm. “It’s nothing. Take a seat. This is what I should do.
Master Sun, you didn’t come here for this, did
you?”
Sun Mingrui sat down and explained the purpose of his visit today. “Yesterday’s
incident was very big. That was an underground arena, and people were killed.
The key was that there were a few American
citizens.
“But fortunately, those Americans did not
enter the country through the normal route, and they were all mercenaries. The higher-ups deliberately covered up this matter.”
Sun Mingrui’s social status was not low, so he
was released after his statement was recorded. However, even though the higher-ups wanted
to cover up the matter, they were still very interested in what had actually happened. They wanted to use him to get in touch with Jin
Yuchen.
Jin Yuchen interrupted him. “In other words,
many people are lying in ambush outside,
right?”
Sun Mingrui hurriedly waved his hands. ‘That won’t happen, that won’t happen. The higher-ups are very sincere.” “It’s meaningless to say that. You don’t even believe it yourself.” Jin Yuchen finished the fried dough stick and wiped his hands.
“I’ve already told you what I wanted to say.”
Jin Yuchen heard his answer and said, “Well, whatever. It’s not impossible to cooperate.”
In an Armored Command Vehicle in the
distance…
Hearing the voice from the monitor, everyone in the vehicle let out a sigh of relief. The information on the Xiqing Park Arena was still on the table. The scene was too shocking. Moreover, many witnesses could prove that it was a battle between two people. It was too exaggerated.
In the face of such a human tank, it was not too much to be cautious.
“Ask him what his conditions are,” the head of the group said into the microphone.
When Sun Mingrui heard the voice in the earpiece, he replied without changing his expression, “Then, Master Jin, do you have any
conditions?”
Jin Yuchen put down his bowl and said, “I have many conditions.”
In his previous life, there were also official organizations in China, but things like excavating a tomb had to be carried out by specific personnel.
When the operation personnel became ability users, controlling them was not easy. In the end, the government gave up on direct
management and changed to a company model.
It had not reached that stage yet. The
authorities had not yet gained a deep understanding of ability users, so they still
wanted to firmly control the power in their hands.
Jin Yuchen felt that he could make good use of
this.
In his previous life, the authorities could not
restrict ability users, but that did not mean that he could not do so now. With the help of the government as a springboard, he could instantly organize a relatively large force.
Then, he would have the capital to fight against McRae Corp..
He did not have such thoughts when he was
just reborn. After finally leaving the organization, he just wanted to live a quiet life.
But McRae Corp. shouldn’t have laid its hands on Jiang Hu.
Jin Yuchen only wanted to destroy McRae Corp. Unfortunately, it was not that simple. Although he was so powerful, McRae Corp. had obtained
the Nero Gold Coin, which restrained him the most.
Jin Yuchen felt that the enemy knew him very well, which was impossible. However, his experience from his previous life
told him that nothing was impossible in the world of ability users.
He could only plan for the worst. Now that the opportunity was in front of him,
he had no reason to give it up. “But Master Sun, you can’t decide what to do
next. People in the distance, don’t use small tricks like tapping devices. If you’re really sincere, then let’s talk face to face.”
Upon hearing Jin Yuchen’s words, the people in the distant armored vehicle looked at each other and focused their eyes on the center of the field. The leader rapped his fingers on the table for a while and fell into deep thought.
