"Surprisingly, I liked him too. So, we started going out. Then, get married and have you as our angels."
"That doesn't answer my question Ma," Yazeno said.
"Oh, what was that again?"
"Why are you telling Papa to find someone else?" The mother smiled and closed her eyes.
"Your grandma on your father's side died early, right?" She asked the obvious and Yazeno nod, "I asked your father, why don't his father just marry someone else, since he's growing old."
"Your father told me that their family lineage was cursed. At first, of course, I laughed it out, because it seemed like a joke."
"Our family has a curse? What's the curse?"
"They can only love one person throughout this lifetime."
"What does that mean?"
"Meaning, if they fell in love with someone, that someone is the only person who can hold their heart until the end of their life."
"It sounds like a fairytale."
"You're right, that's what I thought too because I believe that no person can only love one person. But your father proved me wrong until this moment."
"Then, if you knew that, why are you always reminding Papa to find someone else?"
"Because I don't want to leave him miserable." The door opened and there was Yashnile with a big trophy with Cailly and their father. Their father was crying, that time, he didn't hide it. He walked towards their mother and embraced her with care and love, crying on her shoulder, sobbing, wailing. The children, who were watching weep in silence, had a very perfect family. But perfect doesn't exist in the world.
Months passed, and the mother died. Their father immediately left the country after the burial and overworked himself expanding the company.
Yazeno remembered that moment, especially whenever he was with his sister, Yanarym. At first, he thought that it reminded him of that certain scene because she and their mother were lookalikes. But nowadays, he couldn't think of her similarity with their mother. Cailly was more like their mother and Yanarym, is just Yanarym.
He grew old, turning into a man, still, he couldn't prove that what their mother said was true, although, their father never dated someone else, he still thought that the curse wasn't real. And if it is, he doesn't think that it was a curse, loving one person entirely isn't bad, it sounds rather romantic. And it didn't seem like it, but he was a completely hopeless romantic person.
He looked at Yanarym who was now devouring his portion of ice cream, a blithe smile appeared on his face. He found out, one reason, he always remembers their mother's story regarding the curse, was because whenever he stared at Yanarym, he could hear her words of love for another person.
Her love for Movu, who saved her life when she was abducted. Many years later, she was still sticking to her oath that she will never fall for someone else. He admired her for that because unlike her, Yashnile and he haven't found their person who they will cherish for the rest of their lives. Or so he thought, the smile on his face disappeared when he recollected the memory of his recent girlfriend he broke up with.
Being a hopeless romantic at his age, he was thirsty to find his true love. He kept on looking and searching for that feeling for the other individual, but all he had was only admiration for another person, not love.
Just like what happened to her recent girlfriend, she was a transfer student from the US, her personality was hyped, they got along, his friends like her, she was beautiful and smart. She had it all, and he liked her. But after engaging in a relationship with her, he felt empty.
That was not love, he was infatuated with that girl, not in love. He took Yanarym's advice and broke up with his girlfriend, they had a serious conversation together. Yazeno told her the truth and she laughed at him saying true love doesn't exist, but if it does, she will be happy for him. She left yesterday to live in the states permanently, before that, they had a farewell party for her.
During the party, they played spin the bottle, and things got awkward when one of his friends asked in regards to her sister because their elder brother wants to take her on a date. Which he strongly disagrees with, he angrily declined each one of them.
"Zen, my father met your brother at one of the company gatherings, he was with my brother. And your brother was with a girl, who looks like him, was that your sister?"
"You haven't met his sister yet?"
"Nah, why?"
"Dang! She's a goddess, I'm telling you! I have had a huge crush on her since eighth grade."
"Dude, your girlfriend's beside."
"She's her fan too."
"Yeah, I want to become a policewoman like her." Yazeno laughed, proud and boastful that his sister was gaining fandom without doing anything.
"She's still a student." He replied to his friend's girlfriend. "Still not a policewoman."
"So, hear me out, so, my father said to my brother that he could date your sister." Yazeno's face grumbled after the protruding of his friend.
"My brother met her too, they are in the same university. He told me that she was out of his league but if was given the chance, he wouldn't hesitate to date her!"
"Hey, does she have a boyfriend yet? Her social media was not that informative."
"Is she still a virgin?"
"I bet she's rocking those men's worlds too."
"Have you seen her breast? It's fuc--"
"Enough! That's my sister you are conversing in your dirty talk!" Yazeno furrowed his eyebrows and clenched his fist.
"We know, we're just talking, bro… " they turned silent.
"Your sister has a fucking killer body, shouldn't you be supposed to be boasting now?" One tried to lighten the mood but it only got worse.
