Yazeno's eyes widened and reached out for her hand, carefully examined it, he cussed at himself seeing it bruised.
"I'm sorry, Ate --- I didn't mean to drag you like that...I was..."
"Hey, hey, it's alright. Don't be flustered, I'm just asking if something happened today? Why are you in such a bad mood?"
"I was --- I was..." jealous... He gulped and stared at her eyes, she stared back at him. His heart started to race, he couldn't move. He subconsciously drifted his eyes to her lips, he dreamt about this last night --- he kissed her in that dream, it was great.
"Zen?" He blinked his eyes and fixed his posture. "Are you alright? Can you drive? You're pale." She asked and touched his forehead. The touch of their skin sent electricity to Yazeno and he slapped her hand by reflex.
"Aw."
"Fuck. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to --- shit! I'm messed up." He baffled his hair and smacked his head on the windshield.
"Zen!"
Yanarym was scrolling on her phone while Yazeno was putting ice on her bruised wrist. She managed to convince him that they should wait for Cailly so that she could drive them home. Presently they are in the infirmary and Yazeno was assisting her on her injured hand, it's not really that bad but her pale skin made it look like one.
"Are you hungry? Do you want to eat something?" After she was done texting to Cailly she returned her attention to Yazeno who was staring dazed at the wall. The realization got him bad. She didn't want to do this but she had to, or else, she will be the one who will be dazed because of the piling up of things to do. The least she could do was be sincere in being an elder sister to him. "Should I order pizza while we wait for Cailly in the car?"
Yazeno didn't respond, his head was filled with rumbling thoughts. Ever since the farewell party with Margo, his recent ex-girlfriend. His mind was not functioning well, even his subconscious being was…
"Earth to Zen? Hello?"
"Ah? Yes?"
"Are you hungry?" She repeated the question.
"Huh?"
"Do you want to eat Zen?"
"Yes? Yes, I do." He bowed his head hiding his flushing cheeks away. The heartbeat that had tranquil began to quake. The concerned look in her eyes and the charming voice that calls his name. He always feels this way with her but now, he perceived it differently.
"Alright, I'll order pizza, how's that sound?"
"Yeah, good, good for me." The interaction between them was stiff, but Yanarym was not paying attention to his awkward behavior, instead, she treated him like usual. That it's harder for Yazeno to contemplate what's wrong with him. He couldn't even tell anyone regarding his dilemma. He's in love with his sister, who wouldn't find that complicated? Yes, he admits it, he's in love, there's no denying that. He didn't know when it started but all he knew was this was not a sudden event. He's been in love for so long but was not aware of his own emotion. But he couldn't deny it anymore, it's obvious as the sun shines, clear as water. The reason why he was not satiated dating any other girls, why he was looking for certain qualities, why he was easily turned off whenever his standards couldn't be met, why every time he entered or left a relationship Yanarym's opinions always matters to him. It all made sense.
"Regarding Lawrence," his drifting mind came back when he heard a male's name coming from her mouth, "Can you keep it a secret from Kuya?" He remained silent, for a second his mind blanked. "Please, Zen, hmm?" She held his hand and squeezed it with her delicate hand. He gulped, the smoothness of her skin against him made him lose his mind and he agreed with no argument. She kissed his cheeks and then said thank you before putting back her shoes on.
Minutes passed and he was still dumbfounded at his seat. He shouldn't think of it, he shouldn't but the way her lips brushed on his skin. Her scent lingers on his nose...
But then, he recalled Lawrence. Is that the name of that guy? Her suitor? She allowed someone to court her? That was not Movu? Why? Does she like that guy? How? What about Movu? He stood up and followed Yanarym outside of the clinic to ask her questions.
He found her talking to some men that were in uniform, which was rare because this university has no requirement for uniforms. He rushed to her side and ankled his arm to her shoulder then glared at those bastards who were making moves on her.
"Oh, here's your brother, see you Rym."
"See you." She waved at them with a sweet demeanor, Yazeno frowned, gazing at her smile.
"Who was that?" He asked grimly, Yanarym shrugged her shoulders. "You don't know? Why did you talk to them?"
"I'm no snub, Zen."
"But they are strangers!"
"Why are you being mad again?"
"Because!" He yelled but held his tongue, he simply looked away to hide his dissatisfaction. He couldn't even voice his concern now. What would she think of him if she knew his feelings for her? Margo's opinion said it's not disgusting but what about Yanarym's?
"Zen? What's wrong with you today? Really?" She asked, concerned. "Should we get back to the infirmary? You can lay there for a while."
"No, I'm fine, I'm not sick, I'm just bombarded, you know, senior year." He muttered without looking into her eyes.
"You could just go home and rest, why bother fetching me?"
"I want to be with you." He whispered, "I feel like I always miss you." That is what he wanted to say but he remained silent.
Cailly finished her last class and they got home before dinner.. The night went on, as usual, Yashnile was preoccupied with Maddi.
