CHAPTER 001
Yanarym came into her senses when she felt an intense pain in her chest spread throughout the rest of her body, making her groan in exasperation. Unable to move from the painful sensation, she just stayed there lying down on the soft green grass.
Guide-sama: "I'm sorry, Yanarym. It's just a transition. Next time I'll make sure to lessen the pain." She opened her eyes glaring intensely almost as if they were glowing with fire. She was mad, she hated it! Every single time! She had always been set up to die and then suffer to her death before being dispatched again to another world! She didn't want to feel pain!
"The first time I died, you said I won't feel anything at all!" Fortunately, no one was attending to her injured self to hear her outburst. "But why can I still feel the pain then?! It wasn't just once, Guide-sama! I DIED THE THIRD TIME! THREE TIMES! I was crushed by a truck! I drowned in the ocean! I was hit by a bullet through my heart! EVERY! SINGLE! WORLD! I! DIED! LIKE! THAT!"
Guide-sama: "Don't be mad. Don't worry. I already granted your wish."
A brief sneered appeared, she rebuffed Guide-sama's assertion, and said, "What? Just lessen the pain? Heh! You talk like a professional scammer! And I was fooled every time! I hate that smooth-talking of yours!" She caressed her chest which was shrieking in pain. "...anyways, send me the plot. I'm ready." Inhaled deeply and veered her sight to the proximity. She was in the middle of the field—playing soccer? Wait, how come everyone is flying in the air?
Guide-sama: "I believe you cannot fly on the surface, so, they are in the air."
"How are they flying?" She fervently asked, as if she was not mad just seconds ago.
Guide-sama: "Through magic."
"Magic? ...magic… I'm in a magical world?!"
Guide-sama: " I granted your wish."
She squinted her eyes to see those people who were flying in the sky. Everyone was wearing identical clothing. She quickly glanced at herself, she was wearing the uniform as well. "This is so cool," she whispered. "I'm a student? How old am I? Is this school of magic?"
Guide-sama: "Yes, you are a student, twenty years old sophomore. This is an institution for learning magic but not entirely."
"Not entirely? What do you mean?" Yanarym struggled to get back on her feet by doing so; she felt the twinge in her injured torso. The aftertaste of death was the discomfort she hates the most.
Guide-sama: "Although they teach magic, not every student can do magic..."
"I see," she thrust her hands to the ground to elevate her body, and she found a strange transparent crystal ball resting next to her pinky. Her eyes automatically shot a glare towards the crystal, assuming that it was the thing that hit her. Suddenly, someone's hands took the crystal ball without even asking if she was alright, he flew back to the sky.
Uh, hello? I'm injured! Wait, he saw me, right?—or not. Maybe… "Am I invisible?"
Guide-sama: "No." Yanarym's eyebrows raised. If she was not invisible then she was being ignored. This must have something to do with the character of the original in the world itself.
"Send me the plot," following her attempt to stand, she took a step forward and proceeded to walk out of the field. Otherwise, judging from the people's reception of her, she should expect another crystal ball bolting in her direction. "Kyah! That scares me! Oh, my… haha!" She clamored after taking two steps, she floated into the air with her eyes wide with excitement. It was the shoes! It was the shoes that were responsible for making everyone fly! Speeding up her pace, she hastily got out of the field and was enthused to finally learn all the details about the story inside her head.
The town was cursed by a God.
God's only daughter was so bored up in heaven that she gave in to her vagary and descended on Xleyl, the mundane world, to unleash her boredom. The deity told his daughter, "You should be careful. Come back home once you are satisfied." The daughter accepted and soon came down from heaven to entertain herself.
She drifted from place to place, traveled to all the wonders her older brother had always told her about; meeting, associating, and understanding countless mortals; discovering and experiencing lots of things heaven couldn't offer.
She crossed paths with a man and a woman. They were friends set on a voyage together just like her. With nearly no one to accompany her, the young goddess decided to join the two and so the three of them continued their spontaneous journey, as they learned to cherish one another through hardships and happiness. It wasn't very long until the goddess herself tumbled upon her feelings towards the man.
Little did she know both the man and the woman were deceiving her, falsifying their relationship, saying they were not lovers when the truth was they were. They already knew about her divine identity. What they were aiming for was to make the female deity fall in love with the man and gain her trust. To take advantage of her, to steal her golds and exquisite possession. It didn't take long for the truth to be uncovered, even so, the betrayal did not vanquish her affection for the man. She was so deeply in love with him that she was willing to surrender everything she had. She was cognizant of how much damage they had caused her and that she wasn't the one where the man's heart belonged to yet she never left him.
The young goddess understood that the man could leave her whenever he desired. Scared that the man would desert her, and leave with the woman. She revealed her sacrosanct secret to him—that drinking her blood would grant a mortal like him divine prowess. As soon as the man heard about this, he told the woman. The woman was greedy hence she asked the man to kill the god's daughter saying, "If her blood can give us powers, what more could her flesh and bones?" And so they both killed the daughter of God, accumulating her power, intellect, and immortality. They were overjoyed, not caring for the consequences of their wrongdoings.
A century had passed, and God missed his daughter. God asked one of his sons to deliver a message to their sister to pay him a visit in heaven even if she wasn't done playing around Xleyl yet. The eldest son, Matteo, thereupon vowed to escort his sister back to God's abode safe and sound. He was ecstatic to know that after a long time, their one and only sister was returning home, but only to find out her heart, body, and soul were consumed by humans. Matteo immediately went back to heaven. His mind was filled with rage while his body was tense and rigid yet he managed to keep his composure to inform his Father about it as soon as he could.
Heaven was enveloped with fury and sorrow upon hearing the awful news. The whole Xleyl was so close to receiving the wrath of God as he was extremely enraged and brokenhearted to discover the tragedy of his daughter. Had it not been for his youngest son who still believed and told them that their beloved sister might still be existing—the soul was only concealed inside the human body—Xleyl would perish for good. They have coincided with a decision. Bestowed a divine condemnation to the wicked human couple who consumed the goddess human body, turning their prowess they obtained into a curse. However, it was not only the human couple that received God's wrath.
Many other people suffered from the curse. When they heard it was God's retaliation they ran away far from the human couple. Those who attempted to escape from that place underwent the delusion that they were burned alive. Those who returned had survived, those who chose to keep going died from mental exhaustion. That area where several people perished was marked, a restriction that the cursed people shall not pass. That specified land became the town. The cursed town. Azkin's town. It was a wishful prayer to placate the gods, humans glorified their goddess.
Azkin was her name, the cherished daughter of God, the sole goddess who disappeared but her name would never be forgotten. People who were living inside the town that had accumulated the curse were called azkins.
The human couple was not an exception, incarcerated, they were forbidden to leave town. If they tried, they would have to condone the scorching experience, searingly melting their skin and bones so they stayed. They both grew gray and old for their immortality had disappeared.. The woman conceived sons and daughters to whom they passed down their ability, knowledge, and curse, as well as the unfortunate tale of God's daughter.
