The dragon and its master, left after flying over the field a few times, though by the time they had left, the blue troops had lost at least half of their troops. The smell though was still horrible, but looking across the field of burned bodies and the scorched field. I could see the rest of the blue troops, they seemed to be shaking a bit. It seems like the dragon had scared them, so their morale seemed to be lowered.
I began to move forwards, slowly at first, making sure I was not alone. Seeing more of the red troops follow me, I slowly began to speed up. Once I was completely through the land where the dragon fire had burned. I broke into a fall sprint charging towards the blue soldiers.
The roar that came from all the red troops around me, made my blood boil and all I wanted now was to fight. Then survive, this battle and get back to my world.
It didn't take long to get to the blue troops.
A few hours later, I was covered in crimson blood.
"Well done, you have survived and not only that but made a big contribution to the battle. You are definitely worthy to use me in battle."
Then the scene of where I was changed again. Now I was on what seemed like an endless field. It all looked the same, except for the rock that was a few metres in front of me. In that rock was a sword. It looked fairly plain except for the black handle and the odd writing on the blade. That writing I couldn't even recognize.
As I walked up to the sword, it began to glow. Then that glow all gathered in one spot before flying out of the sword much to my astounded mind. Then to shock me even more, that glow formed a figure.
"So, you finally get to see my true form. You have passed the test well done."
Stuttering out, "What...are you?"
"I am in simple terms for you to understand, a weapon spirit."
My began to spin at what the spirit had said.
'A weapon spirit. What is that? I have never heard of anyone or any books, mention something like this.'
Seeing my dazed expression, the spirit began to explain.
"Basically, weapons forged from certain materials and in a certain way can become sentient. This way is usually with the blood of a person or an animal. After a period of time, the spirit slowly begins to wake up. Then the last step for not to gain sentients is usually for weapons, in a massive battle. What you saw was the battle I awakened. Then the weapons from then on are known as magic weapons."
'Magic weapons' was a term I had heard before though. They were usually used by heroes in stories or great kings and emperors. An example would be the weapons of the great clans of the Imperium. Such as the black sword.'
"Any that is enough of talking. Come other and take my handle, then you may leave this world and return to yours."
As I walked up to the sword, the spirit returned to it. Standing in front of it, I grabbed the handle and lifted it up. As I did so, everything returned back to the barracks, though in my hand was the sword. Looking exactly like it did, in the spirit's world.
Looking around I saw Erebus and the few others near me, with expressions of shock on. Much like I did, when I first saw the spirit, their faces were the exact same.
"Adoh, what is that you are holding?"
'Is this sword so surprising, that he forgot to call me kid!'
"Umm..it is a sword, sir."
"Kid, don't play stupid with me, I just saw its apperance change completely in your hand and you tell me it is just a sword!"
"Well to be exact, it is a magic sword sir."
He dropped the dagger that was in his hand.
"Did you just say magic sword!"
"Yes sir, this a magic sword, which is called that because of the…"
"Kid, don't say. The reason why it is called this, is always kept secret by its user. Just say its name."
"I am night's fall."
The sword's voice sounded out again in my head.
'Wait you can still speak?'
"Of course I can, also I can listen to your thoughts just so you know."
"The sword is called night's fall sir."
"Ok, it will be recorded when we are back on our side of the border, for now, make sure that you have everything that you will need."
After he left, I went back to gathering what I needed. It was just some basic materials and supplies but I also got on some better light armour, which was much more suited to be used than the leather armour that I had on previously. That was basically, just under armour.
Once I made sure I was ready to go and also having found a sheath for my new sword. I met up with the rangers who were outside. Dubh was looking at me, as I came out.
"Nice sword, you better use it well."
Then he turned around and led us all off. We went straight through the fort this time, instead of going through the tunnels. We didn't run into anyone as we left by the main gate.
Looking around, Dubh led us towards the forest, away from the fort and the black land, which is what the rangers called all of the land beyond the black order. This time we went to, where I had gone previously, the duke's city.
As we entered into the forest, a message came down the line, that we all had to be as quiet as possible. As there could be demons, or cultists in the forest.
The trek was fairly boring. There was nothing to see or do, except walk. Sometimes I would see blood stains on the trees and some of the leaves that had fallen onto the ground but like in the fort, I could see no bodies no matter where I looked.
'There should be loads of bodies around. Where are they all? Also thinking about it, I didn't see any bodies really outside of the fort as well. What the hell is going on with all of these missing bodies.'
"My dear owner, the bodies could be used in a blood ritual."
The sword's voice sounded in my head again. I released as well, the sword was old. It probably would have seen the first demon war and chances are, it also saw most, if not all of the Imperiums rule of the land.
'What's a blood ritual?'
"It is nice to see that you are using me, my dear owner. A blood ritual can be a lot of things, but most of the time they are used in summoning demons or devils from the kingdoms of hell."
Shaking my head at the information I had been told, I went to tell Erebus about it, but he just looked at me and said, "If it is about the bodies, I already have a fairly good idea of what they will be used for. As does Dubh. Just walk."
Doing as I have been told, I fell back into the line and walked.
