Ji Weitian: “???”

Why is Qin Nanyu here?

It’s just delivering equipment; why does the CEO and Chairman need to be here?

Before she could prepare herself, the director was waving at her. “Weitian, why are you just standing there? Come and help, I need to talk to you.”

Ji Weitian couldn’t wait for the delivery crew to talk to her, so she had to go downstairs. When she got there, she realized not only were the director and Qin Nanyu there, but there were also a few teachers from the lab department too.

A few people she has not met before also stood next to Qin Nanyu.

They looked like researchers.

What was going on?

“Everyone is here. I’ll introduce everyone to Chairman Qin. These guys are in charge of our lab building at Jiangcheng University. They handle all the daily management and maintenance.” The director looked toward Ji Weitian and continued.

“This is Ji Weitian. She’s an employee of the office of academic affairs. Chairman Qin, you’ve met her before. Although, you probably didn’t know that she’s also a graduate of our school. She’s your fellow alumni!”

Qin Nanyu, who has remained expressionless until now, briefly looked up at the mention of alumni.

His gaze revealed an obvious surprise.

He looked at Ji Weitian, his gaze turning to mock as if saying that he wasn’t sure she was a fellow graduate and not some confused drama major.

Ji Weitian noticed his expression and knew he was bad-mouthing her in his mind. She was going to say something grateful regarding him helping Jiangcheng University with the equipment, but she won’t say it now.

She wasn’t going to make a scene since her boss, the director, was here.

The director continued talking. “These guys are the researchers from Qin Technology Group. They plan to conduct research for a new program at our school. We’ll also pick some excellent faculty and students for this program. Details will come later in a memo. Weitian, you can be the point person for this program and coordinate with both sides.”

After the director ended his speech, he didn’t see Ji Weitian’s horrified face. Instead, he turned to shake Qin Nanyu’s hand.

“On behalf of Jiangcheng University, I want to thank Chairman Qin’s investment in research at our school!”

“No need to thank me. It’s Qin Technology Group’s pleasure to work and research with the excellent faculty and students at my alma mater.” Qin Nanyu said humbly.

The conversation flowed with ease. No one noticed Ji Weitian’s nervous twitch.

Ji Weitian watched Qin Nanyu order his staff to adjust the equipment at the lab, then watched her boss delegate tasks and prepare to leave, before she came to and tried to catch up to him.

“Boss, boss, wait for me…” Ji Weitian rushed in front of the director. She was about to say something but paused.

What could she say?

That she hated Qin Nanyu, so she didn’t want Jiangcheng University to work with Qin Technology Group?

It sounded ridiculous, even to her.

Jiangcheng University is a fertile place for research and development. The faculty and students need an opportunity to showcase their talent. Working with Qin Technology Group would not only help the new products go into production faster, get tested in the market. The partnership would also solve issues like capital, equipment, etc…
