The young master froze. His head turned up, a shocked expression was on his delicate face.
He knew leaving by the front door would be too risky, so he hid in the yard and waited for everybody to assume that he had left. He would then take advantage of the time to leave quietly.
But he didn’t realize…
Before the young master could compose himself, Qin Nanyu issued another insult, “Qin Morui, is this all you can do? You’d act like a dog to run away from home?”
“…” The kid stayed silent. His face reddened as if he felt embarrassed as well.
He pursed his lips and turned to run.
As soon as he tried to walk away, Qin Nanyu had pulled him up by his collar.
The kid was dragged back like a runaway chick.
The boy refused to accept defeat and kicked his legs.
“Let me down. I don’t want to go back. I don’t like dad, I am going to find my mom—”
Qin Nanyu ignored his protests. He took the boy back to the house and into the boy’s own room.
He closed the door.
When he turned around, his housekeeper was standing right there with a worried expression. “Sir, is shutting in the young master like this okay?”
“Why not? He failed to run away from home. This shows he’s not smart enough and needs to reflect.” Qin Nanyu barked and turned to leave. Just as he reached the stairs, he heard crying.
The innocent-sounding cries were heart-breaking.
Qin Nanyu’s chest tightened.
It wasn’t sorrow, but a feeling of unease, which came up from the base of his spine.
In the four years he’s been a father, he could count on one hand the number of times he’s heard his son cry.
Back when he was a new dad, he was still moved by this young life filled with the same blood, it wasn’t until—
Qin Nanyu thought of something. He returned to Qin Morui’s room and could hear the complaints coming from inside.
“Great-grandpa, dad hit me with a reed branch…”
“… everywhere…”
“He doesn’t let me eat or sleep. he locked me in a dark room…”
“He won’t let me go out…”
Qin Nanyu grew nervous as he pushed open the door. The boy was laying in bed and fake-crying into the phone. He could feel his temple throb.
Before he could grab the boy’s phone, his own cell phone rang.
Qin Nanyu picked up the phone, instantly, a loud and angry voice boomed into his ear, “Qin Nanyu, how dare you abuse my great-grandson! Do you want me to die?!”
Qin Nanyu moved the phone further away and said in a low voice, “Grandpa, don’t listen to him. I did have my housekeeper buy a reed branch, but I never touched him, he tried to grab for the reed branch and hurt himself…”
Qin Nanyu’s explanation was interrupted.
Great-grandpa wouldn’t believe Qin Nanyu at all.
“I may be old, but I’m not senile. You don’t let my baby eat, or sleep, or go out… Nanyu, he’s your son, how could you do this?”
Qin Nanyu: “…”
Great-grandpa said, “I’ve decided, Ruirui doesn’t need to go to kindergarten for a while. Starting tomorrow, bring him wherever you go. It’s a good time to build a father-son relationship!”
Qin Nanyu’s head hurt. “Grandpa, I’m going to the lab tomorrow.”
“You can bring my great-grandson with you. Find a female assistant to help you!”
