Chapter 44:Special episode 1: Paid to hear you date

"So what do you think?" Evan whispered.

"Hmm." Leo looked up from his paper and leaned into his friend sitting in the chair next to him.

"What?"

"Are you going to come out for Halloween? Our usual night of fun? Rocky horror show, and then the pub crawl? The haunted event in the basement with the medical students? I heard they decided to scare their teacher this year, I am curious what they think will finally scare her. " Evan said.

Leo grimaced. "I dunno Evan… Max is really scared of things like that I doubt he will want to do anything for Halloween."

"Pshhh, who says you have to do everything with him now. Ditch him, let's go together. It's been a while since we went on a date."

"Excuse me, boys, can you make your date after class, please… Or do you want to share with us what your plans are? Because I am sure everyone here paid lots of money to find out what you are doing on Friday."

"Ah, no, sorry teach." Leo ducked a little as all eyes in the room turned towards the two of them for a moment before the Professor snapped her fingers and everyone's attention was drawn back to the presentation on the board.

He leaned in towards Evan, placing their heads close together.

"I told you that us sitting in the middle center seats was a stupid idea," he whispered.

"How was I supposed to know you were gonna ditch me for someone else and make me mad at you?"

"You,"

"Yeah, you are right, I should have known, you are always ditching me for him now."

"Are you sulking right now?" Leo hissed.

"No, I haven't the foggiest idea what you are talking about." Evan blinked innocently.

"Fine, I will go with you… I feel like if I don't I am going to find myself in a body bag."

"I would never do such a thing, ever…"

"What color a bag would you like your body placed in, I think you look good in Maroon or maybe a light pink."

"Shut up, hold on let me text Max and tell him I can't go with him."

"Yes," Evan hissed happily. Leo reached into his bag and pulled out his cell phone and placed his finger on the home button, but before he could even do anything the phone's screen blinked to life.

Talk, talk, talk, talk

Evan and Leo froze at the same moment as the sound echoed through the room. Leo sucked in a breath, his neck muscles almost bulging with nervous strain.

"Oh, it's Max," Leo exclaimed in surprise.

"Speak of the devil, what even, does he like have freakishly good hearing? How did he know we were talking about him?"

The teacher sighed loudly. "Gentleman?"

"Sorry, I forgot to turn the ringer down," Leo mumbled apologetically, looking like a guilty puppy who had just pooped on your floor and been caught.

Evan smiled sheepishly before pushing Leo's hand down.

Leo pouted, but stood up and started packing his stuff. Evan grabbed his books and slung his bag over his shoulder, then headed for the door.

Leo dropped a book and felt as if his brain was going to explode.

"Why is this always happening to me…"

"Probably because you are a klutzy idiot.." Evan snickered under his breath, while Leo glowered at him playfully.

"Your both idiots, now can you move your in my way." A deep voice from behind them interrupted and Evan chuckled at the innocent student who had the luck of sitting behind them today.

"Sorry." He apologized to him, then grabbed Leo's hand and dragged him out of the room.

Leo threw his bag over his shoulder and did his best to keep up. He pushed open the door and let out a deep, happy breath.

"Gosh, it's fun getting into trouble with you sometimes."

"You still panic so easy though. It was so funny you shoulda seen how upset that one guys face got It was so hilarious Leo…"

The phone beeped again Leo's arm went slack and Evan turned around with a sigh.

Leo was ignoring him completely.
