Chapter 26 - Put Your Head On My Shoulder

"Ugh, I cry a lot. It's so stupid," Zeng said when they got back to his room. Emotional exhaustion made him slump on the couch and put his head on Yul's shoulder. He heard Yul chuckle and hit him on the chest, pouting.

Yul murmured an apology as he pressed his cheek on Zeng's head, "My mom says those who cry a lot are innocent at heart."

Zeng smiled, "Oh yeah? But you don't cry." He never did, neither did Yul tell him any incident where he had gotten emotional.

"I never cry," Yul stated firmly.

"Never?"

"Mostly never."

Zeng hummed at that. "Well, I cry a lot whenever things hurt me." Yeah, Zeng whas the type of person who would shut himself off from the world and cry his heart out alone or when nobody was looking.

"I cry alone though," he added, almost laughing, "You are one of the very few people who have seen me cry. Guess you are one of the lucky ones."

"I hate seeing you cry," Yul said all of a sudden, making Zeng look up at him, the proximity so close that he had to avert his eyes. "Why so?" He asked meekly, his fingers clutching onto the fabric of the couch.

"I don't know," Yul admitted, "But I never want to see you cry again. It's painful to just see and not able to do anything. I hate being helpless like that, not able to take your pain away." His voice had gotten small at the acceptance. He looked like he wanted to hold Zeng's hand but held himself back.

Zeng smiled, taking Yul's hand in his and interlacing their fingers.

"I want you to know that even if I can't take all your troubles away, I can lend you a shoulder cry upon," Yul said in all seriousness. Zeng was touched hearing his words. He was as sincere as always.

Zeng seriously thought what was holding him back from loving this guy. He knew he would be the luckiest person in the world to have him. Now that he was free from the shackles of his past, he could surely open his heart to Yul. So why didn't he just accept this man's love? As Zeng saw him, Yul was so perfect. That's the reason, he was too perfect to be wasted on someone like him. That made his heart throb.

"Zeng ge," Yul called, holding his face in his palms, "You look like you are going to cry again."

Zeng tenderly smiled, "Then will you let me put my head on your shoulder?"

"You don't need to ask," Yul pulled his closer, his arm engulfing Zeng, guiding the doctor's head on his shoulder. "I am here for you, Zeng ge." He said, kissing the top of his head.

The words were so simple and pure and they managed to comfort Zeng.

They stayed like that in each other's comfort until they got hungry. Zeng had to force himself to get up, which obviously Yul delayed. Whenever the doctor was about to get up, Yul would perform the 'five minutes more trick'. He enjoyed staying like that. Finally, when the hunger became unbearable, Zeng got to the kitchen and made something nice for them along with a dessert.

With William out of the picture, Yul was kind of relieved that nothing more would be bothering them. Even if more of Zeng's exes come and even try to mess things up, he was confident he would outdo them. Though Zeng was kind to his exes, Yul certainly didn't see them in good light. So they better stay away.

However, Zeng's approval was still a question. But Yul was determined. One he loved, he would always keep loving. And love would always win.

Soon, Yul was going to graduate and would officially become a police officer. He really wanted Zeng to attend his graduation.

"I already told you, Yul. I cannot come. I have a shift that day." Zeng rejected the invitation as he washed the pan and dishes in which they had fish for lunch the next Sunday.

"But it's my graduation and I am leading the parade." Yul whined, "You have to come to this, Zeng ge!"

Zeng sighed yet again, "I can't just abandon my duties. My supervisor will chop my head off."

Yul frowned, which deepened when he heard the next sentence.

"Also, we won't be able to meet on Sundays anymore," Zeng dropped the bomb and Yul sprang up.

"Huh?! What!! Why??"

"Because my holidays are shifting from Sundays to Tuesdays," Zeng said casually, wiping his hands on a clean towel.

"Oh God! Everything is going wrong." Yul covered his face with his hands and mumbled against his palms. "First, you said you aren't coming, now you are saying we can't meet on Sundays. Everything is going so fu- damn wrong!"

Zeng came over and ruffled his hair, "Everything is going fine. Let us see the positive side of it."

The doctor knew it was pretty ironic given he was mostly the pessimistic one of the two but since this giant baby was upset, he had to do something.

"You will be graduating within two weeks. You will be successfully leading the parade. You will be getting that official police badge. You will-"

"But you will not be coming to see the ceremony," Yul cut him off, "I want you to see me."

"I can't make it!" Zeng shrugged, "I am sorry."

Yul groaned, his head stuffed in the small pillow. "I hate you!" His muffled voice made Zeng laugh as he entered the living room.

"I know, you don't mean it," Zeng ruffled his hair, making him look up and sit beside him.

Yul himself knew it, "That's what I hate even more. You can hurt me however you want and I'll still forgive you."

Zeng hummed, "It's your fault. You spoil me too much. Also, I don't enjoy hurting you. It's just that sometimes things are out of our hands and we can't do anything about it. Like this time."

Yul gave him a dejected puppy face and buried himself back into the pillow. That's when Zeng felt guilty.

"I will try." He said, pulling Yul up, "I can't say for sure but the chances are that I won't be able to make it."

Yul smiled instantly, "You MUST come and see me."

"I will try."

"Give me a probability." Yul insisted, "It will put my heart to ease."

The doctor sighed. This was going to break the younger one's heart more than easing it, "About 99%..."

"Yes!" Yul beamed and threw himself to hug Zeng who pushed him back by the forehead, making him frown.

"Let me complete my sentence, you overexcited puppy. 99% chances that I won't be able to make it. I have surgery practice in the morning. There's no skipping that. Then regular duty at ER. I got no way out."

Yul's face fell. He puffed out his cheeks to show his displeasure, which made Zeng chuckle.

"It's alright piggy. I will see the videos and photos later. Don't be so bummed out." He pinched the puffed out cheeks eliciting a painful groan from the other who rejected being a piggy and demanded being called as a lion instead.

"I want you to see me in my uniform. It's the first time you'll be doing that. You will see how cool I look. Mine is being stitched. Subin's already came. He looked cool in it. I will look even cooler.." The trainee had a proud smile on his face, "And I am putting all my bets on that 1% chance of you coming there."
