Chapter 54 - Drunken Confessions

"I passed!" Yul saw the list of selected candidates online on the web portal and punched his fist in the air. Zeng was there with him to receive the news, clasping a hand over his mouth to contain the shriek.

"Oh my god, Yul, congratulations!" He hugged him, giving a firm kiss on the lips. Yul's entire face glowed with happiness. He was finally there, doing what he always wanted.

The postings would be announced later but no matter where they put him, he was going to make sure he combated every single thing that threatened to disturb the law and order. Though he would still be a junior in the department, he would do his best.

What was worthy of noticing that Yul passed the exams with astonishing grades in everything; theory, athletics and the interview. He was so happy and it was evident from the huge smile on his face. A very few candidates managed to pass every year and even less on their first attempt. Yul was one of the ten people who had successfully entered the anti-narcotics division that year. It had been his dream and he was living it. What more could make his life any better?

However, at the end of the day, not everybody was going to share the same happiness of his success as him. It had hit him when Zeng was the only one cheering for him. But after him, who would even give a damn about it? His friends may see it as a promotion, but in reality, it was much more than that. It was a child's dream, who had seen his father in the police inspector's uniform, the same father who refused to acknowledge his existence.

"I want to tell mom," Yul finally said when he calmed from high. At least his mother would share his joy.

Zeng nodded. "Hurry up, give her a call. I had already informed her that today was the day of result," he said, already handing him the phone. Yul raised an eyebrow, half surprised and half proud that Zeng had overcome the fright and had managed to talk to his mother.

"Since when did you get so close with my mom, Zeng ge?" He asked in amusement.

Zeng shrugged, "Since quite a while. She's sweet and we have a favourite common topic to talk about so we get along just fine." Yul had a hunch that the said common topic was most definitely him. But whatever, it made him happy that his mother and his boyfriend were on good terms.

"Call her. I'll be back," Zeng said and got up but not before kissing him once again and flashing a happy smile which Yul returned with a wide grin. It felt like everything was just going so smoothly.

When Yul told the news to his mother, she was overjoyed. She thanked the Gods and the ancestors and everything that was above that contributed to the success of her son.

"Tell dad if possible," he said after the joyous exchange as sadness clouded his mood. He wasn't even sure his father was interested in it anymore.

"Of course, I will let him know! He will be so happy to hear about it," Mrs Wang exclaimed.

Yul looked peeved, "Even after everything?" He asked.

His mother sighed, "Yul-ah, the one thing I know about your father is that he is really good at pretending. He has pride that he doesn't want to put down but I can see his shell breaking. He may show that he is fine but I can tell that he misses you."

"I miss him too," Yul admitted, at last, being vocal about his love for his parents, a very rare occasion, "Please tell him that I want him to see me during my inauguration with you and Zeng ge. Please, mom, it won't be complete without him."

Mrs Wang nodded, "We will be there. Don't worry." She assured him. "Take care. Tell Zeng my regards."

The call ended as Zeng entered the hall. He had brought out two glasses and a bottle of champagne.

"I don't know fancy stuff but I had bought this in advance to celebrate your promotion," he said with a gorgeous smile, setting the things down and taking a seat beside him.

Surely it was simple but still enough to warm Yul's heart. It was these small things Zeng did for him that made Yul feel special and not to mention, extremely happy.

Yul took the bottle and popped it open. Zeng clapped for him. The auburn liquid was poured into glasses for the two. Zeng had selected a good quality liquor that he rarely consumed since he had seen cases of liver cirrhosis of severe alcoholics but a little of it on some special occasions wouldn't do much harm. He had made it rule for himself and for Yul to not get drunk but at times like these, he excused it.

"To Officer Wang's success," he raised a toast. Yul did the same and clicked their glasses.

Within a few minutes of emptying the first glass, Zeng's cheeks pinkened.

He didn't know Zeng had such low alcohol tolerance. Maybe that was one of the reasons he had made the "no drinking unless on occasions" rule.

He was caught off guard when Zeng suddenly sat on his lap, legs on either side of Yul, face flushed and small giggles escaping his plump lips.

"Are you drunk, Zeng ge?" Yul asked for the sake of it and to his surprise, Zeng nodded sloppily. Great, at least he was honest when he was drunk.

Zeng hugged him, hiding his face in the crook of Yul's neck as he inhaled his scent. His eyes became dewy.

"We will have less time together," he mumbled. Yul pulled him back to have a look at his face. He saw a sad frown, almost a pout on Zeng's lips. Yul pecked him on the lips.

"Why do you think that, Zeng?" He asked, holding him close by the waist. Zeng relaxed in his hold, his arms around Yul's neck.

"My work life is busy as it is. After your promotion, you will be busier. I already don't get enough time to spend with you," Zeng said, pouting. He never whined but at times like this when his defences crumbled, he managed to convey his troubles.

"Your new job will be more dangerous than the previous post," he said without meeting Yul's eyes. "I am worried." His eyes slowly filled with tears.

Yul felt his heart wrench. Why was his boyfriend so adorable?! He held Zeng's face and gave him a long, hot, breathless kiss before touching their foreheads and making him look into his eyes. "Zeng ge, you don't need to worry. Everything is fine. We are fine."

Zeng searched his eyes for lies, "Promise?" He asked.

Yul nodded, "Promise."

Zeng slowly smiled and nuzzled Yul, leaving kisses on his lips, cheeks, nose and entire face before trailing down wet kisses along his jaw. Yul's breathing laboured, his hands lifted Zeng's shirt and felt the smooth skin against his fingertips.

He felt Zeng's erection poking his abdomen and his own hard on in his pants on which Zeng grinded, making Yul groan as he pulled away to speak.

"Wang Yul, make love to me," he insisted and Yul was more than ready to comply. The night had been a frenzy of drunken se×. Both made sure to let each other know the burning passion they felt for the other but often fell short to convey through words.. Now was the time since they didn't know if they would have it later.
