The couple headed back to Capital City after spending a few days in Y City.
Knowing that Lu Xun is a big boss with a large company, Song Xing Xing's parents did not have the heart to hold them around for a while longer.
Assistant Bei Yuan showed up at the airport to pick them up. As soon as she was seated in the car, Song Xing Xing pulled out her phone and checked out her messages.
A breath of relief finally escaped her when she saw that Xia Yu had replied to her message.
"Little Star, don't worry about me. I didn't quit my job because of Huo Yun Chen," Xia Yu replied. "It's just that there's some trouble at home and I have to go back to my hometown."
Although she was a little curious about the trouble that Xia Yu was facing, Song Xing Xing knew that it was not her place to ask.
After reminding her to keep in touch and tell her if she needed help, Song Xing Xing put down the phone and snuggled into Lu Xun's arms.
The car continued to move forward and stopped after a while.
Song Xing Xing looked out the window and realized that they were not home yet. The first place they stopped at was the cat's hotel.
A helpless smile curled on her lips as she thought of the fat cat.
The last time she had left Mr. Fluffball for days was during the lunar new year. She wondered if the cat would be upset again that she had left him for a long time.
Song Xing Xing walked out with Lu Xun by her side.
They stood at the counter and gave out their name to the receptionist to verify their identity as Mr. Fluffball's owner.
Once the procedure was completed, the couple waited at the side with Mr. Fluffball's empty carrier in hand.
The cat caretakers came out after a while with Mr. Fluffball in his arms. The man was someone that Song Xing Xing was familiar with as she had often sent her cat to this establishment whenever she needed to go away for a few days.
"Mr. Fluffball's parents," the cat caretaker called.
Song Xing Xing nodded politely before she looked at the cat.
Mr. Fluffball stared back at them with a listless look on his face.
"What happened to him?" Lu Xun asked.
Lu Xun was used to seeing Mr. Fluffball running around him and rubbing his body on his legs the moment the cat saw him. Seeing that Mr. Fluffball continued to stay in the cat caretaker's arms made him a little worried.
Mr. Fuffball raised his head and gave his papa a pitiful look. "Meow."
Lu Xun looked at the cat with a distressed look on his face.
The cat caretaker lowered his gaze to look at Mr. Fluffball. His hand continued to pat the cat's head, giving him comfort. He looked up again with an apologetic look in his eyes.
"I'm sorry. Someone sent over their cat yesterday and we only found out that their cat had a cold. Mr. Fluffball has been sitting around that cat last night and caught a cold."
Hearing the caretaker's explanation, Lu Xun was starting to worry. He opened his mouth to say a few words but his wife beat him to it.
"It's not your fault this happened," Song Xing Xing said. She walked over and took the cat from the caretaker. She looked at Mr. Flufflball's face and asked again, "How is his condition?"
The caretaker heaved with relief.
This morning, the atmosphere in the establishment turned a little chaotic when they found out that several cats were infected by cold. The infected cats were separated from the healthy ones.
Just now, the staff was scolded by a few cat's parents when they found out that their cat had a cold. Although they shouldn't take in a sick cat to their boarding, they too were unaware that some selfish parent had sent their sick cat to their place.
They were angry but could only do their job and look after the other cats.
Now that he saw that Mr. Fluffball's mummy was not going to lash out at him, the caretaker began to relax. "The vet came and check on every cat. Mr. Fluffball's condition was mild. He was less active than usual and had no appetite."
"Did you give him his medicine?" Song Xing Xing asked.
"The vet prescribed some medicine to him," the caretaker said. "Mr. Fluffball had his medicine this morning and ah, he should eat another dose soon." He looked at Mr. Fluffball's parents and asked, "You know how to feed him medicine, right?"
Song Xing Xing nodded while Lu Xun shook his head.
"How should I do it."
The caretaker looked at Lu Xun and smiled. "Mr. Fluffball's papa, let me demonstrate it to you."
Song Xing Xing passed the fat cat to the caretaker again to let him show Lu Xun how to feed Mr. Fluffball with medicine.
Anyway, as compared to her, Mr. Fluffball seemed to like her husband more.
Usually, Mr. Fluffball was too stubborn when it comes to eating medicine.
His body would weaken when he was sick. But as she tried to feed him with medicine, Mr. Fluffball would suddenly regain his strength to run away and play a few rounds of 'hide and seek' with her.
Perhaps, Mr. Fluffball would eat his medicine obediently when he was with Lu Xun.
The caretaker took the cat to a table and asked his colleague to bring out Mr. Fluffball's medicine.
After explaining to both Lu Xun and Song Xing Xing about the medicine, the caretaker placed the medicine at the side and continued to caress the cat on the table.
"I'll show it to you once," the caretaker said. "Mr. Fluffball's papa, the only thing you need to remember is to do it fast."
Lu Xun nodded. His attention was on the cat. "Un. I'll remember."
"The first thing you need to do is to help him relax," the caretaker said as he petted Mr. Fluffball's head. "Then, you hold his medicine in one hand and help him to lift his head with another. Open his mouth quickly and shove everything inside his mouth." Once he had finished demonstrating, the caretaker looked at Lu Xun and smiled. "It was as simple as that."
Lu Xun has been watching with focus as the caretaker gave him the demonstration. Seeing how easy the caretaker had fed the cat with medicine, Lu Xun began to relax.
Next time, he should feed the cat his medicine.
