After Song Xing Xing had given birth to the twins, Mr. Fluffball began to notice the change around him.
The first few days that he had not seen Song Xing Xing around, Mr. Fluffball was still very cool about it. After all, this would not be the first time that his master had to leave him to go back to visit her parents' house. Moreover, his Papa was still around to look after him.
However, Mr. Fluffball began to worry when he could not see his master for a week. It seemed that Song Xing Xing had never left him for too long. Otherwise, he would be sent to the cat's hotel.
Mr. Fluffball watched as his Papa walked in and out of the house with an anxious look on his face. He did not understand what was going on but his instinct was telling him that he should not make trouble for his Papa.
Then, there were a few more people in the house. Some of the faces were people he had seen before and some were unfamiliar. Seeing that his Papa had a good attitude towards them, Mr. Fluffball did not think too much about it.
Still, his master had not shown up.
After two weeks, the grey cat was starting to worry that his master had left him.
Although he often cause trouble for Song Xing Xing, it doesn't mean that he did not care about her. They have lived together for years from the first day Song Xing Xing had brought him home.
Two weeks have passed and Mr. Fluffball began to lose his weight as well as his hair. He did not even have an appetite when his Papa gave him his favorite wet food.
It was a stressful month without Song Xing Xing around.
Fortunately, after a month of disappearing, Song Xing Xing finally showed up. The cat looked at his master and noted that her bulging stomach was now flat. He stared at her stomach for a long time until his nose picked up the unfamiliar milky scent.
However, he soon realized that the couple had brought home two small humans. Mr. Fluffball walked over and looked at the babies in the swaddle but could not understand why did the couple bring them home.
As he was staring at the babies, one of them began to open her eyes and cry. A couple of seconds later, the other one joined in as well.
Their voices were too loud and it was scaring him. In the end, Mr. Fluffball ran away and hide behind the wall. He watched as Song Xing Xing picked up the babies and brought them to their room.
Once he could no longer hear their cry, Mr. Fluffball finally felt more at ease.
Ever since then, Mr. Fluffball began to notice that his Papa had no longer paid much attention to him. Even though he had enough food and had a comfortable bed to sleep in, the cat did not get as much attention as he used to get.
The couple seemed to like playing with the babies instead of playing with him.
Each time that he wanted to lay on his Papa's lap, he would always find one of the babies taking his spot. In the end, he could only give up ad stared at his Papa with a pair of aggrieved eyes.
Noticing the cat's unhappy expression, Song Xing Xing came to pat the cat on his head and spoke, "Mr. Fluffball, you're already a big brother. Later, you have to help us and look after your sisters, alright?"
"Meow?"
What sisters?
The cat glanced at the sleeping baby in Lu Xun's arms.
It seemed that ever since the two babies arrived, everything around him had changed.
Mr. Fluffball was very concerned about his future.
...
After staying at Lu's residence for more than a month, the grandparents finally head back to their home.
These days, it was the nannies who would look after the twin babies.
As the girls grew up, they began to babble a lot, making the house a lot livelier.
That night, Song Xing Xing went back to the bedroom after coaxing the babies to sleep.
Mr. Fluffball came from his hiding place and walked into the babies' room. It was the first time that he had entered the babies' room and the cat could not help but look around. There were a lot of colorful toys around. Mr. Fluffball thought that this room resembled his room a lot.
After he walked around, Mr. Fluffball still could not find the babies.
Previously, he had seen the couple carrying the babies into the room. After staying inside for a while, they went back to their room without the babies.
Mr. Fluffball began to analyze the situation as he looked around the room. Hearing the noise coming from the cot, Mr. Fluffball decided to jumped up on the shelf to take a look from higher ground.
His eyes widened when he finally found the babies sleeping in two separated cots. The babies had the same look and were wearing the same clothes. He really could not differentiate them.
Stealthily, the cat jumped around until he reached the babies' cot. He stood on the railings and watched as the babies continued to sleep.
After watching them for a while, Mr. Fluffball jumped into the cot on the left.
He sat there for a long time, watching as the baby's chest rose and fell. He lifted his paw and placed it on the baby's chest.
As the baby made a slight move, Mr. Fluffball retracted his paw quickly. There was a trace of panic in his eyes. The grey cat was worried that the baby was going to start crying and later, his Papa was going to be upset when he found him in the room.
Seeing that the baby continued to sleep, he was finally at ease.
It seemed that it was better for him to leave this room before he would get into trouble. He jumped up and paused upon sensing that a pair of eyes were looking at him.
The other baby had her eyes open and she was staring straight at him for a long time. Her hands and feet moved around. Her mouth continued to spit some bubbles.
"Meow."
Lu Jing halted the moment she heard the cat's voice. A few seconds later, she flashed the cat a bright, toothless smile.
After a brief hesitation, Mr. Fluffball walked over to the baby and sat beside her. The two of them stared at each other for a long time. In the end, Mr.. Fluffball lay down beside the baby and the two of them slept together.
