Ming Rusheng and Lu Lian continued to kiss as all the emotions inside exploded into tears drenched their cheeks. Feeling short for breath, the two stopped as Ming Rusheng wiped the tears from her cheeks as she still had her eyes closed. He even cleared the snow that was stuck in her hair.
Seeing her crying face, he spoke, "I am sorry for pretending to lose my memories about you. You can punish me for that but just don't go away from me."
Hearing it, Lu Lian started to cry even more and it startled him. He cupped her face in his palms to make her look at him. "I...I am sorry, Lian. I would never do this again. I know you are angry…."
She finally looked at him, which interrupted him, "I... am... not angry." Her voice was choked with light sobs.
"Then, why are you crying? Instead, you can punish me." Ming Rusheng knew he had hurt her deeply but he had his reasons to do it.
"I…." she choked with sobs.
"Let's go inside first," Ming Rusheng said as it was cold and he was worried for her.
"I don't...want to," she continued to sob while tears didn't stop.
Ming Rusheng didn't insist and opened the buttons of his long winter coat and hugged her tightly while holding the sides of his opened winter coat around her to make her feel warmer.
Lu Lian didn't resist and hugged him back. She buried her face in the crook of his neck and felt the warmth from his body, wrapped inside his winter coat.
She calmed herself for a while and spoke, "I thought you pretended to not remember me because you hate me and don't want me anymore." Just as she said it, she started crying even harder.
Ming Rusheng found her so adorable and patted her head and said, "Whatever you do, I can never hate you but fall for you even more."
"Then..why did you do it?" she asked, still crying her heart out.
Ming Rusheng continued to hug her tightly and replied, "Because I thought you came back to me because you feel indebted for saving you. As I was hurt badly in that incident, it's just your sympathy for me. I wished to give you a chance to go away from me and do what you had decided before that incident. But trust me, it hurt a lot and I always wished you to never leave me."
She raised her head and looked at him with her teary eyes, "I came back because I realized I only love you and can not live without you. I realized it the hard way and now I don't want to let you go. I want to be with you only."
Ming Rusheng could only smile at her and peck on her forehead, "From now on, we will always be together."
Lu Lian smiled a little and said, "You know how scared I was when you….I thought I lost you." again tears made their way out of her eyes like a flood.
"I know...I know…Don't cry now," he wiped her tears.
Just then they felt the drops of rain along with the light snow. "Why is it always raining whenever we come here?" Lu Lian mumbled as she looked up.
"To give us a chance to be together," Ming Rusheng replied to her with a meaningful gaze.
Lu Lian smiled lightly, "Seems like it."
Ming Rusheng let her go and held her hand, "Let's go inside now or we will freeze here."
Lu Lian nodded and asked, "Where?"
"Our place," Ming Rusheng said and took her towards the workshop in Mr. Wong's home where they had the most precious memories together.
When they reached there, Ming Rusheng opened the door and they stepped inside the dark workshop and Ming Rusheng said, "Stay here," and went ahead. Soon the workshop room brightened up with the lights. Ming Rusheng returned to Lu Lian and closed the door behind her.
"Are we going to stay here?" she asked.
"Why? You don't want to?" Ming Rusheng asked who had held her hand and took her towards the large cushioned couch. "
"I was just asking," Lu Lian countered as she followed him quietly.
Memories from that night when the two slept together were still vivid in her mind as she looked at the couch and a light blush covered her face.
Ming Rusheng made her sit on the couch, "I'll get a blanket for you to cover," he went towards the wooden cupboard in the workshop while Lu Lian stared at his back who was busy pulling out the blanket.
'Are we going to be like that again?' She gulped, 'Are we going to do it….cough!'
Ming Rusheng turned that disturbed her thoughts and made her cough, feeling embarrassed over what she was thinking. Even her face was a little red.
He hurried towards her and opened the blanket to cover her, "Are you not feeling well?"
"S-Seems like cold air affected my lungs when I was sitting out for long," she replied, not looking into his eyes.
"I'll get you some warm water," Ming Rusheng went to where the water kettle was kept and heated water for her.
Lu Lian frowned at herself, 'Am I the only one who is thinking about that night? He seems so normal. Did he already forget it?'
Ming Rusheng who looked aloof to what was going on in Lu Lian's mind returned to her and offered her a glass of warm water.
Lu Lian accepted it and heard him say, "I'll start a fire and the place will turn warm soon."
Assuring her he went to the fireplace and removed his jacket and rolled his white shirt's sleeves up to his elbows before arranging the already cut wooden logs into it.
As he was working on it, Lu Lian, who was sitting with a blanket wrapped around her, continued to have warm water while her sight was fixed on the hot busy man in front of her.
'Damn, he looks sexier like this. That night too he managed to seduce me like this. Whatever happened was not my fault but this man is a high dose of seduction.'
Ming Rushing lit up the fire and returned to Lu Lian who lowered her sight and busied herself with taking small sips of warm water to avoid looking into his eyes.
The room would be warm soon," he said and she felt the place next to her was sinking down as Ming Rusheng sat there."
She could only nod and asked to change the sudden awkwardness she was feeling, "Isn't there a heater in the room?"
"Old man had insisted on fixing a heater when I used to live here but I never allowed him to. At that time I loved it this way, far from the city rush, and felt peaceful here. I preferred to live normally. I used to cut wood logs on my own and use them here to keep this room warm.'
While he said it, Lu Lian could see a different side of this man who loved to live a simple way but could not do so given his position.
"It's indeed better like this," Lu Lian agreed and thought, 'Or how would I have gotten to see you like this. So focussed and hot as hell,' she smirked lightly and then heard Ming Rusheng. "Lian, aren't you forgetting something?"
She looked at him questioningly, "What?"
"Once you promised me something," he replied.
"What?"
"The day when my memories return, you will be the one to pounce on me." Ming Rusheng replied with a straight face as if he said nothing wrong.
Cough! Cough!
This sudden and totally unexpected statement from him shocked her to the extent that the water she was drinking even came out of her nose, and couldn't stop coughing. Her face was red like a tomato.
Cough! Cough!
