There was a knock on the door to the main office.
[Who is it?] (Osiris)
[It’s me, Seto.] (Seto)
[Seto? Come in, then.] (Osiris)
When the boy opened the door, Osiris was standing by the bookshelf with some documents in his hand.
Seto entered, then Osiris closed the documents and gestured for him to sit on the sofa.
[It’s rare for you to come by yourself. What’s up? Did you guys change your mind? I’m sure it would be-] (Osiris)
[Hold it. I’m not here to talk about that. I’m just here to consult you.] (Seto)
[Consult me…?] (Osiris)
Seto quickly cut to the chase.
He told him about the letter he got from the Wendigo of Death, Ahas Patel, which he could not tell Satis about.
He gave him all the details about the Wendigo’s existence, where he first met him, when he got that letter, and so on.
Osiris, who had been quietly listening to Seto, contemplated the situation while reading his letter.
He was already aware of the existence of Wendigos, and knew about Ahas Patel, but only in the form of folklore, so he was clearly feeling a bit shaken from all this.
[I see… The way I see it, this drawing of a snake and a crocodile is undoubtedly referring to Sebek. And then, there’s this part that says “If there comes a time when thee seek power, accept mine trial.” But to think you received a letter from a Wendigo in person… Looks like you’re getting a lot of attention.] (Osiris)
[I know it all sounds unbelievable, but it’s the truth. I’m sure I’m destined to fight Sebek. …And if I’m gonna live with Satis, then I’ll have to surpass him. So if there’s anything you know about this, I need you to tell me. Have you ever heard of the trial that Wendigo gives?] (Seto)
[Hmm… Can’t say I have. All I know about him is limited to what I know from the legends. Although, you guys stopped by Benjamin Village for a time, right? I’m willing to bet that the shaman who lives there, a man known as Gendar, might know something about it. He’s from the Yeller tribe, right?] (Osiris)
[…I see. In that case, maybe we should go back to the village.] (Seto)
As they considered the idea, one of Osiris’ subordinates entered his office.
Apparently, a letter addressed to Seto had arrived.
[…What? A letter addressed to Seto?] (Osiris)
[Who could it be from? …Is this…?] (Seto)
That letter came from the shaman of Benjamin Village, Gendar.
Osiris stared at the letter in silence, wondering how he knew Seto was here, or how his letter could arrive with such impeccable timing, but the boy understood all that immediately.
Gendar the shaman possessed mystical powers, and even on their first encounter, he had predicted that the boy would come to his house.
Was it a premonition, or the work of fate?
The truth was for him only to know, but the fact that he sent him this letter must have meant that he was concerned about Seto.
He immediately opened the envelope, and read its content.
『Dear Boy of Destruction and Storm, by the time you receive this letter, I’m sure you will be trying to overcome the obstacles in your life. However, it will be the sort of trouble you’ve never faced before, leaving you lost without knowing how you should think or act.』
Did he really see that far into the future? …Quite the foresight he has. (Seto)
『I have no doubt that you are now seeking the power to surpass your own limitations. From the moment I learned that you saw Ahas Patel, I had a feeling that maybe this was fate. And I believe you have the untapped potential to overcome any difficulties. Here’s where you children should go next.』
The place he indicated was situated further north from the city of Ulaine Donagh, near the mountain range, and it was known as the ancient ruins of “Hopi Mesa”.
A town had been built using the structure of those ruins, and it was known as a mysterious place where ancient and modern times seemed to intersect and mingle.
If the duo went there, they would find guidance in due time, or so the letter said.
[Hopi Mesa, huh… It shouldn’t take you guys that much longer to get there than it did to come here from Benjamin Village, but…] (Osiris)
[That’s okay. Once we’ve procured enough food and water, we’ll leave the city early tomorrow morning.] (Seto)
[I see. So soon… Then I guess we should have a farewell party or something.] (Osiris)
[No, I appreciate the thought, but… I’d like to be alone with Satis. We can invite your troops to have fun another time.] (Seto)
[Hahaha, I see you really are head over heels for her. Okay, then. Be sure to taste the delicacies of this city before you leave.] (Osiris)
After that, Seto left Osiris’ office.
While heading toward the room where Satis was waiting for him, he made the decision to tell her about everything as well.
Just as he had told Osiris.
Normally, he would have told Satis first, but he just delayed it so much, he ended up telling her late.
I’ll need Satis’ help with that. So I have to let her know about everything too. …And we’ll have to overcome these hardships in order to live peacefully. (Seto)
Seto’s expression stiffened with determination as he proceeded down the hallway.
