Chapter 14: The Fate of the Demon King
When Yulin came up and asked him how I could express my gratitude, he paused for a moment and then made a suggestion.
“I’ve heard the Shrine Maidens can dance—wouldn’t it make my brothers happy if you did?”
Kagura dance? The Shrine Maiden’s dance? But I’m afraid I can’t dance Kagura. When I said this, Yulin nodded his head.
“Not Kagura. I believe there was a dance passed down in the Shrine Maiden’s world.”
I’m not sure. Not dancing, but radio gymnastics, which I used to do every day during summer vacation in elementary school for sweets.
“…What, Rajio gymnastics? —Isn’t that enough? I’m sure my brother would appreciate your native dance even if he didn’t recognize it.”
I’m not sure if that’s okay. Yulin laughed, and I nodded my head, somewhat perplexed.
“In any case, I’m glad you and my brother get along so well.”
Yulin appears to want to confirm my relationship with the Demon King. the Demon King’s brother is extremely protective, I see.
“Yulin, come to think of it, what is the Demon King’s destiny?”
When we first met, Yulin said he brought the Demon King’s destiny with him. And I read it in ‘Shrine Maiden and Saint’, which I happened to be reading the other day.
“It comes from this land’s fairy tales. Destiny is──.”
Yulin was about to say something when he was cut off.
“I apologize for interfering, Mika-sama, but His Majesty has arrived.”
the Demon King has been granted passage.
Yulin frowned.
“Shrine Maiden, have you seen Yulin coming this way?”
Yulin moved quickly and attempted to flee through the window, but the Demon King caught up with him.
“I’m sorry for bothering you with my stupid brother—let’s get back to work, Yulin.”
Yulin was dragged away by the Demon King.
I have no choice but to ask Sarah about the Demon King’s destiny.
“Ah, about that, there’s a fairytale about a Shrine Maiden who fell madly in love with His Majesty the Demon King. Since then, a mysterious bond has linked the Shrine Maiden and the King.”
Every Shrine Maiden who appears is apparently married to the Demon King. Could it be that a person who gets married to the Demon King is called a Shrine Maiden?
“No, there hasn’t been a Shrine Maiden in hundreds of years, with the exception of Mika-sama.”
the Demon King’s mother was a regular demoness.
“I see.”
In that case, what should I do for Sarah and the Demon King? I don’t think radio gymnastics are the way to go, so I’ll have to come up with another plan. I’m going to ask Sarah directly.
“You don’t have to.”
Sarah bowed her head with a puzzled expression, but then her face brightened.
“So, if you don’t mind, could you please let me do Mika-sama’s hair?”
“Wouldn’t that exhaust Sarah even more?”
“No, I’ve always wanted to stroke Mika-sama’s lovely hair.”
Sarah’s eyes twinkled as she complimented me, and she began doing my hair right away.
When I looked in the mirror, Sarah’s quick movements enhanced the beauty of my hair. My hair looked fantastic after only five minutes. Sarah finished it off with some fresh flowers in my hair and removed her hands from my hair.
I don’t have the words to describe it, but the finished hairdo transforms me into a princess.
“Thank you very much. I’ve never had such a lovely hair style before. Sarah should do my hair every day.”
“Do you mind if I do it every day?! —Actually, there is one hairstyle that I would like to try.”
Sarah thanked me with a bright smile after I nodded at her intensity.
I’m afraid I’m causing more trouble than I’m worth with this, but Sarah is happy, so I take that as a sign.
What should I thank the Demon King for now?
